  • Nationals' Trevor Williams: Poor results in first rehab start

Williams (elbow) struck out a batter and allowed four runs (two earned) on four hits and no walks while recording two outs in a rehab start Sunday with Single-A Fredericksburg.

Williams spotted 18 of his 26 pitches for strikes in the rehab start -- his first at any level since undergoing an internal brace procedure last July -- but that was about the only positive takeaway from Sunday's outing. The veteran right-hander will likely need the full 30-day rehab window to build up his pitch count and iron out his command, so he likely won't be in consideration for a spot in the Washington rotation until late July or early August. Before requiring surgery last summer, Williams struggled in 17 starts with Washington, posting a 6.21 ERA, 1.54 WHIP and 65:21 K:BB in 82.2 innings.

  • Tobias Myers RP | NYM

Mets' Tobias Myers: Poor showing in long relief

Myers didn't factor into the decision Sunday against the Phillies, giving up three runs on six hits over three relief innings as the Mets fell 5-4. He struck out three without walking a batter.

After Cionel Perez worked a perfect first inning as the opener, Myers took the mound and quickly ran into trouble as the visitors piled up three runs in the third. Myers was lifted after 59 pitches (48 strikes), his biggest workload of the year, but Kodai Senga then covered the final five frames. The Mets still have a vacancy in their fifth starter spot after trading David Peterson to the Cubs, but Senga seems a more likely candidate to work in bulk relief than Myers until the team settles on a longer-term solution. Over 24 appearances (three starts) and 42 innings in the majors this season, Myers carries a 6.21 ERA, 1.38 WHIP and 32:12 K:BB.

  • Brewers' Logan Henderson: Racks up seven Ks in rehab start

Henderson (back) struck out seven and allowed one hit and one walk over three scoreless innings Sunday in a rehab start with Triple-A Nashville.

Making his first appearance in a game setting since May 22, Henderson was about as sharp as the Brewers could have hoped. He compiled 10 whiffs on his 50 pitches (32 strikes), working into the fourth inning while averaging 92.9 mph with his four-seam fastball. Henderson will likely need to get stretched out to the 65-to-75 pitch range before coming off the 15-day injured list, so he'll presumably make at least one more start in the minors. The right-hander looks like he could have a shot at returning to the Milwaukee rotation during the final week before the All-Star break.

  • Louie Varland RP | TOR

Blue Jays' Louis Varland: Tagged with loss Sunday

Varland (3-3) took the loss Sunday against the Rangers, striking out the side in the ninth inning but allowing one run on one hit.

With the score tied 2-2, the Blue Jays turned to their closer in the top of the ninth inning with a potential save situation off the table, but Varland suffered a very fluky loss. Following a two-out double by Josh Jung, Varland saw pinch runner Jarred Kelenic race home from second base after a wild pitch took a strange bounce that left catcher Alejandro Kirk unable to find it in time. Varland has been scored upon in three of 12 appearances in June, posting a 2.57 ERA, 0.71 WHIP and 20:3 K:BB over 14 innings on the month while going 8-for-8 in converting save chances.

  • Nathan Lukes RF | TOR

Blue Jays' Nathan Lukes: Swats fourth homer

Lukes went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run in Sunday's loss to the Rangers.

The 31-year-old outfielder accounted for all the Blue Jays' offense when he took Cole Winn deep in the eighth inning. Lukes has four long balls on the season, and all of them have come in June -- a month in which he's produced a .317/.364/.488 slash line with two doubles, eight RBI and 10 runs in 24 contests.

  • Red Sox's Patrick Sandoval: Hits four innings in rehab start

Sandoval (biceps) struck out three and allowed one earned run on three hits and one walk across four innings Sunday in his rehab start with Triple-A Worcester.

Sandoval built up to 60 pitches (40 strikes) in Sunday's appearance, his fifth minor-league start since he resumed a rehab assignment June 5. He generated five whiffs in the outing and averaged 92.8 mph with his four-seam fastball, down one mph from his average with the Angels during the 2024 season before he underwent internal brace surgery that June. The 29-year-old southpaw is now well removed from the elbow procedure, but a bout with biceps soreness during his rehab assignment in April continued to delay his Red Sox debut. Sandoval's current 30-day rehab window will come to an end Saturday, so he'll likely make one more start with either Worcester or Double-A Portland before coming off the 60-day injured list. With Jake Bennett having excelled as the Red Sox's No. 5 starter over the past few weeks, Sandoval might have to settle for a multi-inning relief role once he gets activated.

  • Braves' AJ Smith-Shawver: Making first rehab start Tuesday

Smith-Shawver is slated to make the first start of his rehab assignment Tuesday with Single-A Augusta, Barrett Sallee of 680 The Fan Atlanta reports.

After completing a series of bullpen sessions and live batting practice sessions as he works his way back from June 2025 Tommy John surgery, Smith-Shawver threw a two-inning simulated game at Atlanta's spring training facility in Florida as a final step before embarking on a rehab assignment. He'll likely build on that two-inning workload during Tuesday's outing and will presumably need at least three or four more rehab starts beyond that before Atlanta brings him back from the 60-day injured list. Smith-Shawver still has a minor-league option remaining, but if his velocity and command looks good during his rehab assignment, Atlanta may have room for him in the big-league rotation. Before undergoing elbow surgery last summer, Smith-Shawver posted a 3.86 ERA, 1.42 WHIP and 42:21 K:BB In 44.1 innings over nine starts with Atlanta.

  • Janson Junk SP | MIA

Marlins' Janson Junk: Starts rehab assignment

Junk (shin) began a rehab assignment with Triple-A Jacksonville on Sunday, allowing one run while striking out three over 2.2 innings.

Junk got his pitch count up to 42 during in his first appearance in more than a month. Working his way back from right shin bone inflammation, Junk could require at least a couple more rehab outings before the Marlins decide whether to re-insert him into their rotation. The right-hander collected a 4.80 ERA and 43:13 K:BB over 60 frames covering 11 starts before he got hurt.

  • Victor Robles RF | SEA

Mariners' Victor Robles: Swipes three bags Sunday

Robles went 2-for-5 with three stolen bases and a run scored in Sunday's 6-5 loss to the Guardians.

Robles doubled his stolen-base count for the season with his three steals Sunday -- he swiped just one bag over 12 games coming into the day while going 4-for-27 (.148). Robles has been limited to the short side of a platoon since returning from the IL in late May, though he could see more playing time in the short term with both Luke Raley (elbow) and Dominic Canzone (hamstring) dealing with injuries. Overall, Robles is slashing .242/.275/.273 with no home runs, two RBI and five runs scored across 69 plate appearances this year.

  • Raynel Delgado 3B | HOU

Astros' Raynel Delgado: Logs first MLB homer

Delgado went 1-for-4 with a two-run homer in Sunday's 7-5 win over the Tigers.

Making his first start in four games with Jose Altuve getting the day off, Delgado put the Astros on the board in the seventh inning with his two-run blast off lefty Tyler Holton, cutting the deficit to 3-2. It's the first home run for Delgado in his first 27 major-league plate appearances. The 26-year-old infielder has gone 7-for-25 (.280) with a .708 OPS, four RBI and two runs scored in 13 games with Houston.
