Andrew Alvarez RP | WAS
Nationals' Andrew Alvarez: Stingy in no-decision
Alvarez didn't factor into the decision in Wednesday's 4-1 loss to the Marlins, allowing one run on four hits and a walk over 4.2 innings. He struck out five,
The 26-year-old southpaw tossed a season-high 82 pitches (47 strikes) as he continues to get stretched out to fill a rotation spot while Jake Irvin (shoulder) is on the shelf. Alvarez has held his own since rejoining the big-league roster in mid-May, and over five appearances (one start) he's posted a 4.50 ERA, 1.31 WHIP and 17:6 K:BB in 16 innings. He has yet to last five full innings in any of those outings, however, limiting his fantasy appeal if the Nationals intend to use him as a traditional starter rather than having him work behind an opener. Alvarez lines up to get his next turn through the rotation on the road early next week in San Francisco.

Blue Jays' Jesus Sanchez: Good to go Wednesday

After going a combined 4-for-8 with four RBIs, three walks and four runs, Chourio will receive the day off. This will only be Chourio's second rest since making his season debut May 4. The 22-year-old has slashed .284/.348/.431 with two home runs in 102 at-bats since coming off of the injured list. Jake Bauers will replace Chourio in left field and bat fifth.

Pete Fairbanks RP | MIA
Marlins' Pete Fairbanks: Nails down seventh save
Fairbanks gave up a hit and struck out one in a scoreless ninth inning Wednesday to record his seventh save of the season in a 4-1 win over the Nationals.
He also hit a batter with a pitch to make things interesting, but after the first two Washington hitters reached base to begin the frame Fairbanks buckled down and escaped the jam. Over eight appearances since returning in mid-May from nerve irritation in his right hand, he's posted a 2.46 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and 10:3 K:BB over 7.1 innings while collecting two wins and two saves in three chances.

Royce Lewis 3B | MIN
Twins' Royce Lewis: Raking at Triple-A since demotion
Lewis is slashing .341/.413/.927 with seven home runs and a 3:10 BB:K in 10 games for Triple-A St. Paul since the Twins demoted him May 19.
After Lewis posted a career-worst .540 OPS over 119 plate appearances with the big club to begin the season, the Twins sent him to Triple-A so that he could implement changes to his swing in a low-pressure setting. Over the past two weeks, Lewis has done his part to prove that he's deserving of another look in the majors. Along with tapping into more power with St. Paul, Lewis is making contact at a steady rate; he's struck out at a manageable 20.8 percent clip in the minors, down just over 10 percentage points from his mark with the Twins. The Twins also plan to give Lewis exposure to some different positions during his time at Triple-A. Lewis will start at second base Thursday, and Twins manager Derek Shelton added that the 26-year-old will also get some work at first base at some point, per Aaron Gleeman of AaronGleeman.com.

Max Meyer SP | MIA
Marlins' Max Meyer: Sharp in sixth win
Meyer (6-0) picked up the win Wednesday in a 4-1 victory over the Nationals, allowing one run on two hits and two walks over seven innings. He struck out seven.
A fielder's choice and an Otto Lopez error in the fourth inning produced the only damage against Meyer in a dominant performance. The right-hander tossed 92 pitches (57 strikes) en route to his fourth quality start in his last seven outings, a stretch in which he's delivered a 2.47 ERA, 0.94 WHIP and 48:15 K:BB over 43.2 innings. Meyer will look to keep rolling in his next trip to the mound, which is scheduled to come at home next week against the Diamondbacks.

Jose Altuve 2B | HOU
Astros' Jose Altuve: Taking live BP on Wednesday
Altuve (oblique) is slated to take live batting practice Wednesday, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.
It will be the first time Altuve has faced live pitching since he went down with a left oblique strain in mid-May. Astros manager Joe Espada indicated previously that Altuve might not need a rehab assignment, so his return to the lineup appears imminent now that he's facing live pitching.

Drew Gilbert CF | SF
Giants' Drew Gilbert: Sitting out Wednesday
Gilbert is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against Milwaukee, reports Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle.
The Brewers are sending left-hander Robert Gasser to the bump, so the left-handed hitting Gilbert will ride the pine. San Francisco will send out Casey Schmitt, Jung Hoo Lee and Victor Bericoto to make up the outfield.
