Quintana (0-1) was tagged with the loss Wednesday against the Astros after allowing three runs on three hits and four walks across 3.2 innings. He struck out one.
Quintana gave up two runs in the first inning before allowing a solo homer to Yordan Alvarez in the third. Quintana hasn't had encouraging results to open the season, allowing five runs on seven hits while posting a subpar 3:8 K:BB over eight innings in two outings. The fact that both outings have been outside the confines of Coors Field paints them in an even more worrisome light, and he's tentatively scheduled to make his next start at home next week against the Dodgers.
Rockies' Chase Dollander: Set for bulk-relief outing

Rockies manager Warren Schaeffer confirmed that Dollander will cover the bulk of the innings out of the bullpen behind opening pitcher Juan Mejia during Thursday's game against the Astros in Houston, Eli Whitney of BlakeStreetBanter.com reports.
After making a one-inning appearance in his most recent outing Sunday against the Padres, Dollander was expected to continue serving in a more traditional relief role this week with the Rockies getting Jose Quintana (hamstring) back from the injured list Wednesday, but Kyle Freeland's (shoulder) move to the IL in a corresponding transaction has left a rotation spot open. The Rockies will turn to Dollander to essentially take Freeland's turn Thursday, but the 24-year-old righty will probably need a strong showing against the Astros to ensure he receives additional bulk-relief appearances or starts. Tanner Gordon struck out four over four scoreless innings of long relief in Wednesday's 3-1 loss, giving the Rockies a viable alternative the next time as a fifth starter is needed if Dollander can't get the job done.

McCarthy began the season as Colorado's primary left fielder against right-handed pitching. However, he's been in the lineup for just four of Colorado's last eight games and has hit only .171 with three RBI and one run scored across 43 plate appearances this year. However, McCarthy has been aggressive on the basepaths when he's reached, logging five stolen bases on six attempts.

Quintana will start Wednesday's contest at Houston in what will be his second appearance in a Rockies uniform. The veteran left-hander did not make any rehab appearances, so it's unclear what kind of workload he will be prepared for Wednesday. Quintana missed the last two-plus weeks with a strained hamstring, which he sustained during his season debut March 29 in Miami while giving up two earned runs over 4.1 innings.

Goodman provided Colorado's biggest offensive spark, as he opened the scoring with a solo shot off Colton Gordon in the first inning, then led off the fifth with another homer to left-center to cut into Houston's lead. It was the sixth multi-homer game of the 26-year-old's career and his first since July 1 of last year. Lorenzen (1-2) took the loss Tuesday against the Astros, allowing seven runs (two earned) on six hits and one walk while striking out three over 2.2 innings.
Lorenzen ran into trouble early, allowing a solo homer to Christian Walker in the second inning before things unraveled completely in the third. Defensive miscues opened the door for Houston after a dropped infield pop-up and a leadoff double, and the 34-year-old compounded the damage by balking both runners into scoring position before Yordan Alvarez tied the game with a two-run double. The Astros kept piling on from there, turning the inning into a six-run rout and forcing Lorenzen's exit. The right-hander now owns an 8.10 ERA, 2.22 WHIP and a 13:5 K:BB through 16.2 innings, with a difficult matchup against the Dodgers looming in his next scheduled start.
Moniak is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game in Houston.
The Rockies are facing a lefty for just the second time this season, and the left-handed-hitting Moniak has been out of the lineup for both of those contests. Gordon has been sharp early on at Albuquerque, posting a 2.76 ERA and 15:4 K:BB over his first 16.1 innings. The righty holds a career 7.06 ERA in 23 starts in the majors, however, and appears pegged for a long-relief role with the Rockies.
