  • Red Sox's Mickey Gasper: Stepping out of lineup

Gasper is not in the lineup for Thursday's game versus the Orioles.

Gasper had started the previous three games and six of the last eight tilts, but he'll take a seat for Thursday's matinee. Carlos Narvaez is doing the catching for the Red Sox in the rubber match.

  • Phillies' J.T. Realmuto: Cracks go-ahead homer

Realmuto went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Wednesday's 3-2 win over the Padres.

After missing Tuesday's contest, Realmuto made in impact in his return Wednesday with his seventh-inning homer off Jason Adam, his third of the year, that put the Phillies ahead 2-1. Realmuto's gotten off to a slow start overall this year, slashing .223/.297/.323 through his first 145 plate appearances, though he's been better of late, posting an .845 OPS in his last nine contests.

  • Red Sox's Mickey Gasper: Knocks first triple

Gasper went 1-for-4 with a walk, a triple, two RBI and a run scored in Wednesday's 8-1 win over Baltimore.

Gasper took advantage of Orioles outfielder Blaze Alexander losing a ball in the twilight and reached third base for his first MLB triple and his first three-base hit at any level since 2022. He started at catcher for the fifth time in the last eight games and extended a hit streak to six consecutive contests. Gasper's been elevated to the primary backstop against right-handers and is 17-for-48 (.354) against them this season.

  • Henry Davis C | PIT

Pirates' Henry Davis: Slugs grand slam in loss

Davis went 1-for-4 with a grand slam in Wednesday's 11-9 loss to the Astros.

Davis gave the Pirates a 4-2 lead in the fourth inning with his slam, which was his third homer over his last seven contests. While he's shown a bit of power recently, he has gone just 4-for-24 (.167) with eight strikeouts during that span. The catcher has lost some time to Endy Rodriguez amid his season-long struggles. Davis is batting a mere .143 with a .533 OPS, five homers, 16 RBI, 13 runs scored, one stolen base and three doubles over 135 plate appearances. Expect Davis and Rodriguez to continue to operate in a timeshare.

  • Blue Jays' Brandon Valenzuela: Homers in losing effort

Valenzuela went 1-for-3 with a solo home run In the 7-3 loss to Atlanta on Wednesday.

Valenzuela smacked a solo shot off of Tyler Kinley in the ninth for his fifth of the season. The rookie has gotten plenty of playing time for the injured Alejandro Kirk (thumb) since being called up in early April. Kirk is expected to return at some time next week, but at designated hitter, so it will not affect Valenzuela's playing time yet. The 25-year-old is batting .231 with 11 RBI and 14 runs scored in 40 games this season.

  • Angels' Travis d'Arnaud: Moves to 60-day IL

The Angels transferred d'Arnaud (foot) to the 60-day injured list Wednesday.

D'Arnaud has been on the injured list since May 8 due to right foot plantar fasciitis, so his move to the 60-day IL will guarantee he remains sidelined through the beginning of July. Sebastian Rivero will continue to work as the Angels' backup catcher until then, and Shaun Anderson will claim the open spot on the 40-man roster.

  • Tigers' Dillon Dingler: Drives in four in Wednesday's win

Dingler went 2-for-4 with a home run and four RBI in Wednesday's 7-2 win over the Rays.

Getting a partial day off as the DH, Dingler supplied the biggest hit of the game when he took Nick Martinez deep for a three-run blast in the fourth inning. Dingler has been a linchpin of the Detroit offense over the last couple weeks, batting .267 (12-for-45) in his last 12 contests with nine extra-base hits (six homers), 10 runs and 15 RBI. Wednesday's long ball was also his 14th of the year, establishing a career high through just 55 games.

  • Padres' Freddy Fermin: Out of Wednesday's lineup

Fermin is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Phillies.

Fermin has yet to pick up a hit since May 14 while in the midst of an 0-for-26 slide at the plate, and he will take a seat Wednesday after starting five of the previous six games. Rodolfo Duran will replace him at catcher and bat ninth in the order.

  • Phillies' J.T. Realmuto: Back in Philadelphia lineup

Realmuto (wrist) will start at catcher and bat seventh in Wednesday's game against the Padres.

Realmuto missed Tuesday's series opener after being hit on the left wrist by a pitch versus the Dodgers on Sunday, but he's back in there following a one-game absence. The veteran catcher enters play Wednesday having slashed only .192/.259/.260 in 22 games since the start of May.

  • Cal Raleigh C | SEA

Mariners' Cal Raleigh: Starting rehab assignment Sunday

Raleigh (oblique) will begin a rehab assignment with High-A Everett on Sunday, Daniel Kramer of MLB.com reports.

Raleigh will move up to Triple-A Tacoma on Tuesday and will continue his rehab assignment there for the rest of next week before the Mariners evaluate him for a return to the active roster. That sets Raleigh up to return to the Seattle lineup June 16 for the beginning of a homestand, assuming all goes well. He's been out since mid-May due to a right oblique strain.
