The Red Sox are expected to be reinstate Story (sports hernia) from the 60-day injured list ahead of Sunday's series finale against the Yankees, Tim Healey of The Boston Globe reports.

Story is expected to settle back in as the Red Sox's primary option at shortstop over the final month of the season after missing the past three and a half months while recovering from sports hernia surgery. The 33-year-old didn't fare especially well at the plate during his two-week rehab assignment, going just 6-for-35 (.171 average) with a 1:11 BB:K over 10 games for Triple-A Worcester.

McGonigle went 1-for-3 with two walks and an RBI in Saturday's 2-1 win over the Dodgers.

With the bases loaded in the bottom of the ninth inning, McGonigle ripped a deep drive into the left-center field gap that actually bounced over the fence but counted as only a single in a walk-off scenario. The 22-year-old has slowed down at the plate in August, batting .240 (24-for-100) over 25 games with four homers, one steal, 16 runs and 18 RBI, but McGonigle remains the favorite to take home the AL Rookie of the Year Award at season's end.

Lombard was removed from the second game of Saturday's doubleheader against the Red Sox due to right knee discomfort, Gary Phillips of the New York Daily News reports.

Lombard appeared to tweak his right knee during his plate appearance in the third inning on a check-swing. He stayed in to finish his at-bat before being replaced by Amed Rosario in the top of the fourth. Lombard will undergo further tests to determine the nature and severity of his knee injury, and the Yankees should have an update on the 21-year-old's status during or shortly after Saturday's contest.

Montgomery went 2-for-4 with a three-run home run and two strikeouts in Friday's 7-4 win over the Twins.

Montgomery made his presence felt early in the game with a 374-foot three-run blast that gave the White Sox a 4-0 lead in the first inning. He had a slump in early August, hitting .154 with a .474 OPS between Aug. 1 and Aug. 15, but he's turned things around of late. Over his last 10 games, Montgomery is hitting .263 with a .764 OPS. The second-year shortstop has 28 homers and 76 RBI with a .723 OPS across 532 plate appearances this season.

Walcott went 2-for-5 with a double, a solo home run, a stolen base and an additional run scored for Double-A Frisco on Friday.

Walcott's had an up-and-down return from a concussion earlier this month but is on the up again. He's hit safely in five consecutive games, going 8-for-19 with four steals and 11 runs scored during the streak. Although he lost significant development time in 2026 after undergoing an internal brace procedure, Walcott remains an elite prospect. He has a .902 OPS with 12 doubles, four home runs 11 RBI, seven steals and 30 runs scored over 26 contests.

Wilson will undergo surgery on his left shoulder Sept. 16, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.

Wilson landed on the injured list last Friday due to soreness related to a shoulder separation he suffered earlier in the season, and he'll opt to go under the knife to address the issue. His procedure will be similar to the one teammate Zack Gelof underwent last September, and assuming Wilson also has a similar return timeline, he figures to be fully healthy by the time the 2027 campaign begins.

Henderson is not in the Orioles' starting lineup against the Athletics on Friday, Andy Kostka of TheBanner.com reports.

Henderson will have a rare off day while Blaze Alexander -- who was reinstated from the injured list Friday -- will start at shortstop and bat leadoff. Henderson has a .217 batting average (18-for-83) in August with two steals, two home runs, five RBI, 15 runs scored and a 17:15 BB:K.

The Orioles optioned Vazquez to Triple-A Norfolk on Friday.

The Orioles selected Vazquez's contract from Norfolk on Wednesday, but he'll now depart the active roster without appearing in a game to make room for Blaze Alexander (hand), who returned from the IL on Friday. Vazquez will remain on the Orioles' taxi squad for now in case Baltimore needs to add infield depth on short notice.

Pena (hand) is in the lineup for Friday's matchup against the Mets, per Brian McTaggart of MLB.com.

After taking a fastball off his left hand during Thursday's series finale against the Yankees, Pena is good to go for Friday's series opener with the Mets after X-rays came back negative. Pena will lead off and man shortstop for Houston.

Story (sports hernia) remains with Triple-A Worcester on his rehab assignment Friday, Chris Cotillo of MassLive.com reports.

Though he is scheduled for a day off Friday, Story will stay with Worcester rather than rejoin the Red Sox for their series this weekend against the Yankees. Boston will return home to host the Mariners on Monday, and that could be the day the Red Sox are eyeing for Story's return. Out since mid-May following sports hernia surgery, Story is 5-for-32 with a 1:10 BB:K in his first nine rehab games.
