Guardians' Brayan Rocchio: Powers up in loss
Rocchio went 2-for-4 with a double and a solo home run in Friday's 7-5 loss to the Padres.
Rocchio swatted his 10th home run of the season in the second inning and ended a 21-game stretch without going deep. After a promising first half of the season, Rocchio has hit the skids in the second half; he entered Friday with a .173/.221/.235 slash line over the previous 25 games. Per Tim Stebbins of MLB.com, Guardians manager Stephen Vogt took ownership of Rocchio's struggles, attributing them to a decision to move the shortstop around the batting order while the team dealt with injuries. Rocchio was returned to his familiar ninth spot in the order for the last four games and currently has a modest three-game hit streak (4-for-12).

Guardians' Brayan Rocchio: In midst of dry spell at plate
Rocchio went 0-for-4 in Friday's 8-2 win over the White Sox.
Rocchio has been a near-league-average performer for the season with a .254/.320/.375 slash line and a 98 wRC+ over 444 plate appearances, but he's fallen into an extended skid at the plate lately. Over his last 12 games, he's gone just 4-for-43 (.093), which has resulted in a 20-point drop in his batting average. Though he's remained a mainstay in the lineup at shortstop amid his slump, Rocchio could be in danger of losing out on a couple of starts per week after the Guardians recently called up one of their top prospects in Angel Genao from Triple-A Columbus. Genao will likely be in line for steady playing time while he's up with Cleveland, though his ability to play second base and third base in addition to shortstop could allow Rocchio to be included in the starting nine more often than not.

He also extended a hit streak (five games) and an RBI streak (three). Over a 29-game stretch since June 18, he's never gone more than one game without a hit while slashing .296/.319/.452 with six doubles, four home runs, 16 RBI and 14 runs scored.

It was the career-high ninth home run of the season for Rocchio, who also has a career-high 46 RBI. Cognizant of the team's cleanup batters ranking last in the league in OPS (.576), Cleveland manager Stephen Vogt deployed the shortstop fourth in the batting order the last two games.

Rocchio went 2-for-5 with a home run, two RBI and two runs scored in Sunday's 5-2 win over the Marlins.

Guardians' Brayan Rocchio: Remains in upper third of order
Rocchio batted second and went 2-for-5 with a stolen base and a run scored in Monday's 6-3 loss to the Rangers.
Rocchio, who extended a hit streak to five games, has held his own since being promoted from ninth in the order to the upper third. He's hit safely in nine of the last 11 contests, going 14-for-47 (.298) with four doubles, two RBI, two steals and four runs scored during that stretch. While those aren't flashy numbers, the shortstop has helped the Guardians navigate their way without key regulars Angel Martinez (foot) and Jose Ramirez (hand). Chase DeLauter was also out for the last two weeks due to a rib injury but returned Sunday.

Guardians' Brayan Rocchio: Bats second in order
Rocchio was moved up to second in the order and went 0-for-4 in Tuesday's 2-1 loss to the Brewers.
Guardians manager Stephen Vogt was left scrambling over the weekend following several injuries, with Jose Ramirez's hand injury the most severe. Ramirez had settled in at the second spot in the batting order, but Vogt needs to find a replacement for the next 5-to-7 weeks. Rocchio, who's mostly batted ninth this season, got the first shot and deserved the opportunity. While his offense has slowed during the first half of June (.504 OPS), Rocchio outperformed expectations over the first two months of the season, posting a .293/.374/.415 slash line with four home runs, 27 RBI, nine steals and 26 runs across 58 games through the end of May. The configuration of the batting order could change when Chase DeLauter (ribs) and/or Angel Martinez (foot) are ready to return.

Guardians' Brayan Rocchio: Perfect in win
Rocchio went 3-for-3 with a double, a stolen base and a run scored in Thursday's 3-1 win over the Tigers.
Batting out of the nine hole, Rocchio sparked a two-run rally with a two-out double and immediately scored on a Daniel Schneemann double. Rocchio's been rolling in May and is now 14-for-33 with two doubles, a triple, a home run, three steals, eight RBI and nine runs scored over the last 11 contests. He began the year at second base but has since moved over to shortstop after Gabriel Arias (hamstring) landed on the 10-day injured list. It was recently reported that Arias' rehab "hit a little snag" and will be out longer than expected. Whether it's at shortstop or second base, Rocchio's place in the lineup should be stable given his strong production at the plate.

Guardians' Brayan Rocchio: Knocks in two runs in win
Rocchio went 1-for-4 with a stolen base and two RBI in Monday's 7-0 win over the Angels.
Rocchio didn't let a bases-loaded opportunity pass by when he delivered a two-out, two-run single in the second inning. He's been money with runners in scoring position, slashing .382/.475/.529 with 18 RBI in those situations. He also stole his seventh base (caught three times) in 41 games. With the Guardians calling up Travis Bazzana to be the primary second baseman, shortstop will have to be Rocchio's home. It's unclear what Cleveland manager Stephen Vogt's plan is for shortstop when Gabriel Arias (hamstring) is read to return, but Rocchio's bat could put him atop the depth chart.
