  • Zach McKinstry 2B | DET

Tigers' Zach McKinstry: Collects two hits Wednesday

McKinstry went 2-for-4 with an RBI in Wednesday's 3-2, 10-inning loss to the Guardians.

McKinstry was the only Detroit player with multiple hits, and it was his first time doing so since all the way back on April 4. It's been a struggle offensively for the veteran utility player, who is batting just .186 with a .503 OPS this season. McKinstry was much better during the 2025 regular season with a .259 average and .771 OPS, but he has career marks of just .229 and .671, respectively, and 2026 has seen regression set in.

  • Ezequiel Duran 2B | TEX

Rangers' Ezequiel Duran: Homers in win

Duran went 1-for-5 with a home run and two RBI in Wednesday's 5-4 win over the Rockies.

Duran belted a two-run homer in the fourth inning that erased the Rockies' early lead. He had a productive three-game set against Colorado, finishing the series 7-for-14 with three extra-base hits and eight RBI. For the season, the right-handed hitting Duran is slashing .295/.352/.488 with four home runs and 23 RBI over 41 games. He'll continue to fill in at shortstop with Corey Seager (back) on the 10-day injured list.

  • Ernie Clement 2B | TOR

Blue Jays' Ernie Clement: Ready to play Wednesday

Clement (illness) will start at second base and bat sixth in Wednesday's game against the Yankees.

While recovering from a bout with strep throat, Clement was limited to a pinch-hitting role in Tuesday's 5-4 loss, but he appears ready to play a full nine innings Wednesday. Since rapping out a season-high five hits May 9 against the Angels, Clement has fallen into a bit of a lull at the dish, going 6-for-27 (.222 average) over his ensuing nine games.

  • Gleyber Torres 2B | DET

Tigers' Gleyber Torres: Still unable to swing at full speed

Tigers manager A.J. Hinch said Wednesday that Torres (oblique) is still unable to swing a bat at full effort, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.

Torres' left oblique strain no longer gives him any trouble during fielding drills, but the second baseman won't be sent out on a rehab assignment until he can swing a bat at full speed without discomfort. He should be in line for a quick turnaround once he clears that hurdle, but for now, Torres is in a holding pattern in his recovery.

  • Travis Bazzana 2B | CLE

Guardians' Travis Bazzana: Receiving evening off

Bazzana is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Tigers, Tim Stebbins of MLB.com reports.

Bazzana will head to the bench for just the second time since his April 28 call-up from Triple-A Columbus, clearing the way for Daniel Schneemann to pick up a start at the keystone. Over his first 19 big-league games, Bazzana has held his own at the dish, slashing .299/.427/.403 with two home runs, seven stolen bases, 10 runs and nine RBI. The Guardians have rewarded Bazzana for his early success by moving him up in the batting order; he's made three of his last four starts out of the No. 5 spot after initial working out of the seventh spot.

  • Royals' Michael Massey: Left out of lineup vs. lefty

Massey is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Red Sox.

He'll hit the bench for the second day in a row while the Red Sox send another lefty starter (Connelly Early) to the hill. Nick Loftin will pick up a start at second base in place of Massey.

  • Orioles' Jackson Holliday: Idle for series finale

Holliday is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rays.

With the Orioles wrapping up their series in St. Petersburg with a day game after a night game, Holliday will get a breather. The 22-year-old returned from the injured list Monday and rejoined the lineup for Tuesday's 4-1 loss in what was his 2026 MLB debut. Holliday started at second base and went 0-for-2 with a strikeout before Jeremiah Jackson came on pinch hit for him in the top of the eighth inning.

  • Gleyber Torres 2B | DET

Tigers' Gleyber Torres: Rehab assignment delayed

Tigers manager A.J. Hinch said Tuesday that Torres (oblique) is "still day-to-day" and "not ready" to begin a minor-league rehab assignment, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.

Though Hinch had expressed optimism in recent days that Torres was closing in on a return to game action, the Tigers apparently still want the veteran infielder to complete some more workouts before sending him out on an assignment. Torres doesn't seem to be dealing with any sort of setback in his recovery from a left oblique strain, as he was spotted on the field at Comerica Park on Tuesday going through an assortment of defensive drills in addition to some light hitting and running. Zach McKinstry and Hao-Yu Lee are likely to work in a platoon at second base until Torres is ready to return from the injured list.

  • Rays' Ben Williamson: Shelved with back strain

Tampa Bay placed Williamson on the 10-day injured list Wednesday due to a low back strain, Ryan Bass of Rays.tv reports.

Williamson's stint on the IL will be retroactive to Sunday, as he hadn't played since Friday while tending to the back injury. Tampa Bay added Oliver Dunn to the 26-man active roster in a corresponding move to bolster their infield depth, but Carson Williams is the most likely candidate to serve as Williamson's replacement as the right-handed-hitting option of a platoon at second base with Richie Palacios.

  • Travis Bazzana 2B | CLE

Guardians' Travis Bazzana: Adjusting to MLB pitching

Bazzana went 2-for-3 with a walk and a two-run home run in Tuesday's 4-3 win over the Tigers.

The rookie second baseman hooked a Keider Montero changeup over the wall in the right-field corner in the fourth inning, one of only four hits the Guardians managed on the night. The homer was Bazzana's second in his first 19 big-league games, and his top-of-the-order skill set has been on full display as he's slashing .299/.427/.403 with seven steals, nine RBI, 10 runs and a 13:13 BB:K.
