  • Orioles' Samuel Basallo: Leaves game early Sunday

Basallo exited Sunday's game against Houston early with right shoulder discomfort, Roch Kubatko of MASNsports.com reports.

After just one at-bat in the top of the second inning, Basallo was pulled from the game in the bottom of the inning. The Orioles announced that the 21-year-old was bothered by discomfort in his right shoulder. Sam Huff has replaced Basallo behind the plate and fifth in the order.

  • Angels' Logan O'Hoppe: Not in Sunday's lineup

O'Hoppe is absent from Sunday's lineup against the Tigers, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.

O'Hoppe will receive a breather for the series finale after going 2-for-2 with a walk on Saturday. The 26-year-old will be replaced by Tyler Heineman behind the plate, and he will bat ninth for the Angels.

  • Orioles' Adley Rutschman: Out for series finale

Rutschman is absent from Sunday's lineup against Houston, Roch Kubatko of MASNsports.com reports.

Rutschman, who went 0-for-4 with a walk and a strikeout in Saturday's game, will ride the pine for the series finale. Samuel Basallo will be behind the plate and bat fifth for Baltimore.

  • Royals' Salvador Perez: Blasts 12th homer

Perez went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Saturday's 6-1 win over San Diego.

Perez sent an elevated fastball from Matt Waldron over the center-field fence to extend Kansas City's lead in the sixth inning. It marked the veteran's second homer of July, and he's hitting .286 with an .864 OPS, nine RBI and four runs scored across 11 games this month. Overall, Perez is slashing .211/.253/.351 with 12 homers, 39 RBI and 33 runs scored across 91 contests this season.

  • Kyle Teel C | CHW

White Sox's Kyle Teel: Receiving breather Sunday

Teel is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Blue Jays.

The White Sox will give Teel a rest after he started behind the plate in the club's first two contests coming out of the All-Star break. Drew Romo will receive the nod at catcher in the series finale in Toronto.

  • Guardians' Patrick Bailey: Sitting out Game 2

Bailey isn't in the lineup for the second game of Saturday's doubleheader against Pittsburgh.

Bailey will move to the bench after going 0-for-3 during the first of Saturday's two games. Austin Hedges will replace him behind the plate and bat eighth during the nightcap.

  • Athletics' Shea Langeliers: Launches homer Friday

Langeliers went 1-for-4 with a home run and three strikeouts in Friday's loss to the Nationals.

Langeliers went yard in the final game before the All-Star break and picked it up right where he left off, slugging his 22nd homer of the season with a blast to left field in the bottom of the ninth. Langeliers ranks second among all MLB catchers in homers and looks on pace to surpass the career-high mark of 31 long balls he established last season.

  • Royals' Carter Jensen: Walks off San Diego

Jensen went 3-for-5 with two doubles, two RBI and a walk during the Royals' 7-6 extra-inning win over the Padres on Friday.

Jensen made his biggest contribution in the 10th with a game-winning two-run single that plated Michael Massey and Nick Loftin. After going hitless and recording a combined eight strikeouts in his previous four games before the midseason break, the rookie broke out of his short slump in a big way. On the season, the 23-year-old has slashed .242/.310/.430 with 13 homers and 51 RBI in 352 plate appearances.

  • Blue Jays' Brandon Valenzuela: Smacks homer Friday

Valenzuela went 1-for-4 with a solo homer in Friday's 12-4 loss to the White Sox.

Valenzuela cut the Blue Jays' deficit to 8-4 with a solo home run in the sixth, his eighth long ball of the season. George Springer started in left field Friday, so Valenzuela could see an uptick in plate appearances in the second half of the regular season if he sees more time as the designated hitter or as the catcher in games in which Alejandro Kirk serves as the DH.

  • Red Sox's Carlos Narvaez: Provides rare offense in win

Narvaez went 3-for-4 with a home run, three RBI and an additional run scored in a 10-0 victory over the Rays in the first game of Friday's doubleheader.

Narvaez had a couple of run-scoring singles before putting the final touch on the win with a seventh-inning homer to make it 10-0. The homer was his third of the season and first since April 28. It was rare offense from the catcher, who entered the contest with a .188 average and just six RBI over 54 games this season.
