Angels' Josh Lowe: Launches grand slam Sunday

Lowe went 1-for-2 with a grand slam in Sunday's 4-1 win over the Athletics.

Lowe came through with the bases loaded in the second inning, crushing a grand slam to right field to provide all the offense the Angels needed in the victory. The 28-year-old was demoted to Triple-A Salt Lake on May 22 due to poor performance, but he was recalled Wednesday and has gone 5-for-12 (.417) in four games since returning. While Mike Trout (hamstring) is sidelined, Lowe figures to split time in center field with the right-handed-hitting Jose Siri, who replaced him as a pinch hitter against left-hander Jose Suarez in the seventh inning.

  • Sammy Natera RP | LAA

Angels' Samy Natera: Records first career save

Natera picked up the save Sunday against the Athletics. He allowed a hit and no walks while striking out two over 1.1 scoreless innings.

Natera entered with two outs in the eighth inning and finished off the game with little resistance, earning the first save of his big-league career. Since having his contract selected June 5, the 26-year-old has posted a 0.96 ERA, 0.96 WHIP and 12:6 K:BB across 9.1 innings. Natera could continue to see high-leverage opportunities in a suspect Angels bullpen that lacks a defined closer, with Ryan Zeferjahn, Kirby Yates and Sam Bachman combining for five saves as part of an informal closer committee.

  • Alfredo Duno C | CIN

Reds' Alfredo Duno: Moving up to Double-A

Duno was promoted to Double-A Chattanooga on Sunday.

Duno will make the leap to the Double-A level after producing a .250 batting average with 16 home runs, 47 RBI, 46 runs scored and two stolen bases over 242 at-bats in 65 contests with High-A Dayton so far this season. The 20-year-old is considered to the the Reds' top overall prospect, and he could be on track to make his major-league debut during the 2027 campaign.

  • Aaron Civale SP | ATH

Athletics' Aaron Civale: Struggles continue in fifth loss

Civale (5-5) took the loss Sunday, allowing four runs on seven hits and a walk over five innings against the Angels. He struck out two.

Civale's lone mistake was a costly one, as he surrendered a towering grand slam to Josh Lowe in the second inning. The right-hander has struggled in three starts since returning from a stint on the injured list due to right shoulder tendinitis, allowing 12 runs on 22 hits across 12 innings with a 9:3 K:BB. Civale's first season with the Athletics has largely been ineffective, as he owns a 5.05 ERA, 1.58 WHIP and 48:20 K:BB across 67.2 innings (14 starts). The 31-year-old's next outing is tentatively scheduled for Saturday against the Marlins.

  • Tyler Callihan RF | PIT

Pirates' Tyler Callihan: Smacks three-run homer

Callihan went 2-for-4 with a walk and a three-run homer Sunday against the Reds.

Callihan got the Pirates off to a fast offensive start with a three-run homer in the second inning. That marked his first long ball since June 10, spanning a 14-game stretch during which he had hit .211 with three RBI and four runs scored. Despite the strong showing Sunday, Callihan could be on the outside looking in for playing time due to the return of Konnor Griffin and the emergence of Esmerlyn Valdez.

  • Angels' Sam Aldegheri: Earns third win

Aldegheri (3-3) earned the win Sunday, allowing one run on five hits and a walk over five innings against the Athletics. He struck out four.

Aldegheri turned in a solid effort, tossing four scoreless innings before running into trouble in the fifth frame, though he limited the damage to just one run. Sunday's outing was a step in the right direction for the young left-hander after he allowed 11 earned runs across 7.2 innings over his previous two starts. Aldegheri will take a 4.85 ERA, 1.45 WHIP and 20:13 K:BB across 29.2 innings and eight appearances (five starts) into his next outing, tentatively scheduled for Saturday against the Red Sox.

  • Pirates' Esmerlyn Valdez: Keeps showing off power

Valdez went 3-for-4 with a solo home run, a double, two RBI and two runs scored Sunday against the Reds.

Valdez checked into the lineup for the third time in Pittsburgh's last four games and continues to make a case for consistent playing time. He began his day with an RBI double in the second inning and then blasted a solo home run in the eighth inning following a lengthy rain delay. Valdez now has a home run in each of his last three appearances and has five long balls across 44 plate appearances to begin his big-league career.

  • Kyle Teel C | CHW

White Sox's Kyle Teel: Knocks in two

Teel went 1-for-4 with two RBI on Sunday against the Royals.

Teel delivered a two-RBI single in the second inning to account for his production on the day. He now has at least one hit in three of his four starts since making his season debut, and he also has two multi-RBI showings. Teel has also been in the lineup for four of a possible six games, so he doesn't look to have extensive workload restrictions.

  • TJ Rumfield 1B | COL

Rockies' TJ Rumfield: Piling up hits in June

Rumfield went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored Sunday against the Twins.

Rumfield recorded a pair of infield hits to scrape together another productive performance. He has five consecutive two-hit games and is in the midst of an 11-game hitting streak -- five of which have come on the road -- during which he's gone 26-for-66 (.393) with five homers, 16 RBI and 10 runs scored. Rumfield continues to piece together an impressive rookie campaign, hitting .294 with a .377 wOBA across 328 plate appearances.

  • Bryan Torres LF | STL

Cardinals' Bryan Torres: Blasts homer in win

Torres went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run in Sunday's 2-1 win over the Marlins.

Torres was the offensive difference-maker, as his two-run homer in the second inning was all the scoring the Cardinals needed to avoid the series sweep. The 28-year-old is hitting .234/.308/.468 with three homers, seven RBI, seven runs and a stolen base across 53 plate appearances this season. With the St. Louis outfield back to full health, Torres has primarily been relegated to a reserve role since June 11.
