Jeremy Pena SS | HOU
Astros' Jeremy Pena: Could return Monday
Pena (hamstring/neck) could be reinstated from the 10-day injured list ahead of Monday's game at Minnesota, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.
The 28-year-old shortstop resumed his rehab assignment with Double-A Corpus Christi on Friday after neck soreness forced him to miss a couple games earlier in the week, and he could rejoin the Astros on Monday for the start of a 10-game road trip. Pena, who has been on the IL for a month due to a hamstring strain, has gone 2-for-11 with two doubles in three contests during the rehab stint.

Carson Williams SS | TB
Rays' Carson Williams: Back in majors
The Rays recalled Williams from Triple-A Durham on Sunday.
The 22-year-old made Tampa Bay's Opening Day roster but was demoted back to Durham after going 3-for-23 with nine strikeouts in his first seven MLB games. Taylor Walls reclaimed the starting job at shortstop once he was healthy, but Williams is returning to the majors with Jake Fraley (hernia) heading to the IL. Walls has a .212/.310/.273 slash line in 118 plate appearances, so Williams could get some opportunities to prove he can handle big-league pitching, and the additional infield depth could free up Richie Palacios for more time in right field.

Colson Montgomery SS | CHW
White Sox's Colson Montgomery: Smacks another homer
Montgomery went 1-for-4 with a solo home run during the White Sox's 8-3 win over the Cubs on Saturday.
Montgomery was responsible for one of five home runs off Jameson Taillon on Saturday, with the former's taking place in the third inning to give the White Sox a 5-0 lead. Montgomery has gone deep in back-to-back games and is up to 13 home runs on the season, which is sixth most in the American League and second on the White Sox behind only Munetaka Murakami (17). Montgomery sports an .864 OPS with one steal, 31 RBI and 22 runs scored over 183 plate appearances this season.

Trevor Story SS | BOS
Red Sox's Trevor Story: Seeking medical opinions
Story is seeking additional opinions about whether surgery is needed for his sports hernia, Tim Healey of The Boston Globe reports.
Story was placed on the 10-day IL on Saturday due to the issue, which he's reportedly been dealing with for much of the season. The expected length of his absence should become clearer once it's determined whether or not he'll need to go under the knife. Story said Saturday that he'll likely be out 6-to-10 weeks if surgery is indeed required.

Corey Seager SS | TEX
Rangers' Corey Seager: Out of lineup due to back spasms
Seager is dealing with back spasms and isn't in Texas' lineup Saturday versus Houston, Kennedi Landry of MLB.com reports.
Seager was also held out of the lineup Friday, but that was presumed to be a rest day in the midst of the shortstop's 0-for-27 skid at the plate. It's not clear when Seager's back began bothering him, though Landry notes that the issue is considered minor and that Seager could be back in the lineup Sunday. Ezequiel Duran is starting at shortstop for the Rangers on Saturday.

Trevor Story SS | BOS
Red Sox's Trevor Story: Injury deemed sports hernia
Story, who was placed on the 10-day injured list Saturday, has been diagnosed with a sports hernia, Ian Browne of MLB.com reports.
Story was originally said to have a groin injury, so the sports hernia diagnosis provides more specificity to the issue he's reportedly been dealing with for much of the season. According to Bill Koch of the Providence Journal, a sports hernia can sideline a player six weeks if surgery isn't needed and about four months if surgical, so Story appears to be facing an extended absence. Andruw Monasterio is starting at shortstop for Boson on Saturday and could pick up regular playing time there in Story's stead.

Nick Sogard 3B | BOS
Red Sox's Nick Sogard: Recalled from Worcester
The Red Sox recalled Sogard from Triple-A Worcester on Saturday, Tim Healey of The Boston Globe reports.
Sogard will come up from Triple-A to replenish Boston's infield depth following Trevor Story's (groin) move to the injured list. Sogard has spent the entire 2026 campaign in the minors up to this point, slashing .269/.417/.454 with five homers, 23 RBI, 27 runs scored and four steals across 168 plate appearances.

Trevor Story SS | BOS
Red Sox's Trevor Story: Placed on injured list
The Red Sox placed Story on the 10-day injured list Saturday with a groin injury, Tim Healey of The Boston Globe reports.
Story has reportedly been battling a groin issue for the majority of the season, and the Red Sox will now place him on the injured list so they can properly treat his injury. Andruw Monasterio and Isiah Kiner-Falefa will likely split reps at shortstop while Story is on the shelf, and Nick Sogard could factor into the mix as well after coming up from Triple-A Worcester.

Ernie Clement 2B | TOR
Blue Jays' Ernie Clement: Resting Saturday
Clement isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Tigers.
Clement went 0-for-2 with a walk and a run during Friday's series opener, and he'll now step out of the lineup to give Lenyn Sosa a start at the keystone Saturday.

Colson Montgomery SS | CHW
White Sox's Colson Montgomery: Launches 12th homer
Montgomery went 2-for-4 with a solo home run Friday against the Cubs.
Montgomery led off the second inning with his 12th home run of the season. He's gone deep in consecutive starts and also has three homers in his last five games. In that span, Montgomery has hit .316 with four RBI and five runs scored and remains a very strong source of power and counting-stat production.
