Schlittler (13-6) came away with the win Tuesday against the Rockies, allowing one run on three hits while striking out 10 across seven innings. He did not issue a walk.

The only blemish on Schlitter's line was a solo home run by Adael Amador in the third inning, but it was an otherwise spectacular outing for the American League Cy Young candidate. It was the fourth time this season (and third since the All-Star break) that Schlitter logged double-digit strikeouts, and he's allowed one run or zero in eight of his last nine starts. Among qualified starters this season, the Yankee right-hander ranks second in ERA (2.01), fourth in both WHIP (0.92) and opposing average (.189) and fifth in strikeouts (220) over 178.2 innings. Schlittler's next start is tentatively slated for this weekend at home against the Mets.

Sandoval (1-5) took the loss against the Angels on Tuesday, allowing four runs on 10 hits and two walks while striking out seven across six innings.

It was Sandoval's first career start against the Angels, with whom he spent six seasons from 2019 to 2024. He didn't have his best stuff Tuesday, giving up at least one run in three of his six frames, and the 10 hits he allowed were his most in a start since May 12, 2024 against the Royals (11). Sandoval has taken the loss in five of his last six outings and sports a 4.58 ERA, 1.76 WHIP and 57:27 K:BB over 55 innings this season. He's tentatively slated to start next week on the road against the Rangers.

Detmers (5-8) earned the win against Boston on Tuesday, allowing one hit and one walk while striking out nine across six scoreless innings.

Detmers allowed only three baserunners during his start (including a hit-by-pitch) and generated 14 whiffs on a career-high 112 pitches (73 strikes). It was seventh time this season (and third time since the All-Star break) that Detmers struck out at least nine batters, and his 191 punchouts (over 168 innings) are fourth most in the American League this season. He'll take a 3.32 ERA and 1.03 WHIP into his next start, tentatively slated for next week at home against the Mariners in what currently projects as a two-start week for the 27-year-old southpaw.

Alcantara (13-10) took the loss against the Mets on Tuesday, allowing seven runs on seven hits and four walks while striking out one batter in 4.1 innings.

Alcantara put the Marlins in a large hole early, with four of the six runs he gave up through the first three innings coming on home runs from Francisco Lindor, Juan Soto and Brett Baty. It's the fourth time this season (and second time since the All-Star break) that Alcantara has given up three home runs in a start, and this marks the fourth time this year that he's given up at least seven earned runs in an outing. He has an 0-4 record over his last six starts with a 4.95 ERA and 1.40 WHIP over 36.1 innings. Alcantara will look to get back on track next week against the Diamondbacks.

Manaea (5-7) earned the win against the Marlins on Tuesday, allowing four runs on five hits while striking out four across five innings. He did not issue a walk.

Manaea was in complete control for most of Tuesday's start, retiring the first 15 batters he faced while being handed a 6-0 lead by his Mets teammates. However, the left-hander's night took a turn for the worse in the sixth, when he allowed a hit to each of the first five batters he faced while being tagged for four runs. Luckily for Manaea, he received enough run support to come away with his fifth win of the season and third since the All-Star break. He's allowed at least four runs in each of his last five outings, and he'll take a 4.79 ERA and 1.34 WHIP over 133.1 innings into his next start, tentatively slated for next week at home against the Orioles.

Quintana (elbow) will begin a rehab assignment at Double-A Hartford on Wednesday, Kevin Henry of The Denver Gazette reports.

Out since late May with a sprained left elbow, Quintana began his throwing program in early July and has finally reached the final stage in his rehab. The Rockies -- already eliminated from postseason contention -- likely won't be in much of a hurry to bring the veteran southpaw back, but he could still return in time to make another start or two before the end of the season.

Freeland (neck) is expected to pitch in a rehab game at Double-A Hartford on Wednesday, Kevin Henry of The Denver Gazette reports.

Freeland landed on the injured list Aug. 24 due to cervical radiculopathy, and after spending the past week throwing off a mound, the 33-year-old is now ready to return to a competitive setting. It's unclear whether he'll make additional rehab appearances beyond Wednesday, but because he hasn't been on the shelf very long, he shouldn't need much time to ramp back up.

The Diamondbacks optioned Cabrera to Triple-A Reno on Tuesday.

The right-hander fired three scoreless frames out of the bullpen Monday in Kansas City and will now be sent down in favor of a fresh bullpen arm. Cabrera has made seven appearances (five starts) for the Diamondbacks this year and has a 4.33 ERA, 1.37 WHIP and 18:10 K:BB across 27 innings.

Elder is expected to be sidelined 3-to-4 weeks after undergoing arthroscopic surgery on his right knee Tuesday, Mark Bowman of MLB.com reports.

Elder had his knee examined by a doctor in Philadelphia on Monday, and the decision was made to have the minor procedure. The right-hander will not return before the end of the regular season, but Elder is aiming to be available at some point during the playoffs. Elder will conclude his regular season having gone 8-8 with a 4.11 ERA, 1.27 WHIP and 121:49 K:BB over 149 innings covering 26 starts.

Weathers (forearm) did some flat-ground throwing from 75 feet Tuesday, Pete Caldera of The Bergen Record reports.

The left-hander said after the throwing session that he feels "really good" as he works his way back from a flexor strain. Weathers is aiming to rejoin the Yankees as a reliever later this month.
