The Cardinals recalled Mathews from Triple-A Memphis on Monday.

Mathews will start the first game of Monday's doubleheader in Cincinnati versus the Reds. He'll be making his second MLB start, after yielding two runs with a 3:3 K:BB over five innings in his debut in Toronto earlier this month. In 21 starts for Memphis this season, Mathews has collected a 3.27 ERA and 120:61 K:BB across 99 innings. He will likely be sent back down following Monday's spot start.

Lodolo did not factor into the decision Sunday against the Marlins, allowing three hits and two walks while striking out two over five scoreless innings.

Lodolo matched up well with Eury Perez, who delivered six scoreless frames of his own for Miami, but Cincinnati's bullpen was shelled in the late innings to spoil his effort. The left-hander tossed just 73 pitches in his second start since returning from the injured list. It was a major upgrade from his return start, where he served up three home runs against the White Sox. Lodolo owns a 4.52 ERA, 1.42 WHIP and 57:29 K:BB across 71.2 innings this season. He's tentatively scheduled to make his next start Friday against Arizona.

Brown (3-3) took the loss Sunday, allowing two runs on three hits and five walks over five innings in a 3-2 loss to the Mariners. He struck out five.

After giving up a solo homer to Randy Arozarena in the first inning, Brown generally limited the damage but struggled with his control, issuing five walks. The right-hander hadn't experienced notable control issues in previous seasons, but he's now allowed four-plus walks in four of his past eight outings and is sporting an overall 5.2 BB/9. In total, Brown owns a 3.67 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and 72:40 K:BB across 68.2 innings (13 starts) and is tentatively scheduled to pitch Saturday against the Athletics.

Perez did not factor into the decision Sunday against the Reds, allowing two hits and five walks while striking out five over six scoreless innings.

Perez threw 63 of his 100 pitches for strikes and generated 16 whiffs despite issuing five walks. The right-hander has now worked 13 consecutive scoreless innings spanning his last two starts and has completed at least six frames in seven of his last eight outings. After struggling to a 5.33 ERA across his first 10 starts of the season, Perez has completely reversed course with a 1.66 ERA over his last 12 outings. He'll look to continue his impressive turnaround in his next scheduled start against the Nationals.

Skubal (7-7) took the loss Sunday, allowing two runs (one earned) on seven hits and two walks over six innings in a 6-2 loss against the Brewers. He struck out seven.

Skubal allowed more traffic on the bases than usual, but he still generated 18 whiffs and seven strikeouts while throwing 77 of 109 pitches for strikes. Through three starts with the Dodgers, the southpaw has posted a 3.18 ERA, 1.24 WHIP and 19:6 K:BB across 17 innings. Overall, Skubal owns a 2.85 ERA, 0.96 WHIP and 135:20 K:BB across 113.2 innings (19 outings) and is tentatively scheduled to next pitch Saturday against the Pirates.

Henderson (7-2) earned the win Sunday, allowing one run on three hits and a walk over seven innings against the Dodgers. He struck out six.

Henderson handled the Dodgers offense with relative ease, as Max Muncy's solo homer in the fourth inning was the only blemish on his line. Sunday marked the first time in the 24-year-old's career that he completed seven innings. The young hurler has pitched to a 2.79 ERA, 0.78 WHIP and 21:3 K:BB across 19.1 innings through three starts in August. Overall, Henderson owns a 2.70 ERA, 0.87 WHIP and 75:12 K:BB in 63.1 innings (12 starts) and is tentatively scheduled to start Sunday against Atlanta.

Johnson (2-7) took the loss Sunday, allowing two runs on five hits and two walks over 5.1 innings against the Royals. He struck out four.

The right-hander was mostly effective, though a pair of solo homers surrendered to Michael Massey in the fourth inning and Bobby Witt in the fifth inning were enough to stick Johnson with the loss. Despite the result, it was an encouraging performance for the 24-year-old, who hadn't completed five frames in any of his past four starts and had pitched into the sixth inning just once, June 23, prior to Sunday. Johnson owns a 6.41 ERA, 1.54 WHIP and 47:29 K:BB across 60.1 innings (15 appearances) and is lined up to pitch Saturday against the Rangers, though he may get bumped from the rotation if Yusei Kikuchi (shoulder) is ready to return.

Cameron (7-8) earned the win Sunday, allowing a hit and a walk over nine scoreless innings against the Angels. He struck out eight.

Cameron dominated in Anaheim, as Vaughn Grissom's bloop single in the seventh inning was the only hit the Angels could muster. Sunday marked the southpaw's first career complete game and third time completing eight-plus frames this season. Cameron will take a 4.16 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 126:43 K:BB across 138.1 innings (24 appearances) into his next start, tentatively scheduled for Friday against the Tigers.

Burke did not factor into the decision Sunday against the Tigers, allowing four runs on five hits and three walks while striking out two over 4.1 innings.

Burke ran into most of his trouble in the second inning, surrendering three runs on four hits and two walks before escaping a bases-loaded jam to prevent further damage. Colt Keith then jumped on the first pitch of the third inning for a solo homer. The four runs were the most Burke has allowed in a start over his last 10 outings, a dominant stretch in which he posted a 1.60 ERA with a 79:11 K:BB across 62 innings. He'll look to bounce back in his next scheduled start Friday against the Mets.

Cease did not factor into the decision Sunday against the Yankees, allowing two runs on two hits and three walks while striking out 10 over 6.1 innings.

After allowing a double to Heliot Ramos in the first inning, Cease held New York hitless over the next five frames, including four innings with multiple strikeouts. He returned for the seventh but was pulled after surrendering a double to George Lombard, then watched from the dugout as the inherited runner came around to score. Cease reached double-digit strikeouts for the ninth time in 23 starts this season and has now surpassed 200 strikeouts in six consecutive campaigns. He's been particularly dominant since the beginning of July, posting a 1.49 ERA across eight starts. Cease is scheduled for a rematch with the Yankees in his next outing.
