Reds' Eugenio Suarez: Launches ninth homer
Suarez went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Tuesday's 4-1 loss to the Phillies.
Suarez accounted for Cincinnati's only offense Tuesday, taking Zack Wheeler deep in the seventh inning for his ninth home run of the season. Since his two-homer performance against the Mets on June 15, the veteran slugger has cooled off, batting .167 with a 39.7 percent strikeout rate. On the year, Suarez is slashing .207/.280/.374 with nine home runs, 10 doubles, 32 RBI and 21 runs scored across 246 plate appearances.

Reds' Andrew Abbott: Fans eight during loss
Abbott (5-5) took the loss Tuesday against the Phillies, allowing three runs on five hits while striking out eight over six innings.
Abbott allowed all three of his runs in the third inning, including a two-run homer from Kyle Schwarber. He bounced back nicely afterward, retiring 10 of the final 12 batters he faced while striking out six. The left-hander turned in a quality start and set a season high with eight strikeouts, but it wasn't enough to counter Zack Wheeler's dominant seven-inning, 14 strikeout performance. After an ugly start to the season, Abbott has not allowed more than three earned runs in a start since April 24, posting a 2.86 ERA with a 62:32 K:BB over that stretch. He is scheduled to make one final start before the All-Star break at home against the Cubs.

Reds' Noelvi Marte: Hitting bench Tuesday
Marte is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Phillies.
Marte will head to the bench for the second time in three games while the Reds go with Spencer Steer in right field. After getting off to a hot start upon being recalled from Triple-A Louisville on June 3, Marte has gone 6-for-41 (.146 average) with a 27.3 percent strikeout rate over his last 12 games.

Reds' Edwin Arroyo: On bench Tuesday
Arroyo is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Phillies.
Arroyo has gone 2-for-16 across his past five contests and will sit Tuesday for the second time in Cincinnati's past three games. Matt McLain is picking up another start at second base in the series opener versus Philadelphia.

Reds' Spencer Steer: Homers in win
Steer started at first base and went 1-for-3 with a home run and two RBI in Sunday's 3-2 win over the Orioles.
Steer put the Reds on top with a two-run homer in the fifth inning. It was the 14th homer of the season for Steer, who is on track for a fourth consecutive campaign with at least 20 home runs. Steer continues to be a lineup regular but does not call any one position home.

Reds' Rhett Lowder: Temporarily shifted to bullpen
Lowder will pitch out of the bullpen until the All-Star break, Charlie Goldsmith of Fox19 Now reports. "When we get to next Sunday, we'll see where we're at and map it out from there," Reds manager Terry Francona said over the weekend. "We're not trying to make Lowder a bullpen guy. We're trying to figure out ways to protect our staff, win games and get through this next week."
Lowder's transition to the bullpen was triggered by the return of Hunter Greene to the rotation. Lowder is expected to provide length as a reliever but could also get use in high-leverage spots when a right-hander is needed.

Reds' Emilio Pagan: Grabs first save since return
Pagan earned the save in Sunday's 3-2 win over the Orioles, allowing a run on a hit and two walks in the ninth inning. He struck out one.
It didn't come easy for Pagan in his first save chance since returning from a nearly two-month stint on the IL. The Orioles loaded the bases with one out before adding a run on a sacrifice fly. Pagan then coaxed a lineout off the bat of Adley Rutschman, stranding the tying and go-ahead runs on base and locking down his seventh save of the year. It's been an uneven season for Pagan thus far -- he now sports a 6.46 ERA with a 1.50 WHIP and 13:8 K:BB across 15.1 innings. Still, the veteran is expected to hold down the ninth-inning job in Cincinnati going forward.

Reds' Nick Lodolo: Sharp in third win
Lodolo (3-2) earned the win Sunday over the Orioles, allowing a run on six hits and two walks over six innings. He struck out four.
Lodolo was solid Sunday, as he held Baltimore scoreless through five innings before ultimately allowing a lone run on Coby Mayo's two-out single in the sixth. The win is Lodolo's first since May 31 -- that was also the last time he went at least six innings in a start. While his workload had been limited of late, Lodolo has now allowed just one run across 15 innings in his last three outings. The southpaw has lowered his ERA to 4.68 across 11 starts (57.2 innings) this season with a 1.46 WHIP and 46:24 K:BB. Lodolo is tentatively in line to face the Cubs at home his next time out.

Reds' Nathaniel Lowe: On bench for series finale
Lowe is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Orioles.
Lowe will head to the bench for the second time in the series, this time exiting the lineup against a right-handed starter (Kyle Bradish) after his previous absence Friday came versus a lefty (Trevor Rogers). Spencer Steer will step in for Lowe at first base and will bat fifth.

Reds' TJ Friedl: Starts against right-hander
Friedl started in center field and went 1-for-4 with a triple, an RBI and a run scored in Saturday's 8-5 loss to the Orioles.
Friedl legged out a triple in the second inning, driving in a run, and then scored the Reds' fourth run of the frame. Since the club lost two center fielders to injury -- Blake Dunn (elbow) and Dane Myers (shoulder) -- Friedl has started against right-handers while Matt McLain has gotten the call against lefties.

Reds' Blake Dunn: Not ready for baseball activity
Dunn (elbow) hoped to resume baseball activity Saturday but was not ready, MLB.com reports.
Dunn, who received a cortisone injection in his elbow in late June, has been on the injured list retroactive to June 27. The 10-day minimum expires Tuesday, but it appears he may need more time.

Reds' Dane Myers: Receives injection
Myers received an injection in the AC joint of his left shoulder Saturday, MLB.com reports.
Myers is currently on the injured list after slamming into the wall while making a running catch a week ago. Prior to his injury, Myers had been poised for a regular run in center field because of an injury to Blake Dunn (elbow). With both players on the IL, the Reds are getting by with TJ Friedl and Matt McLain in center field.

Reds' Elly De La Cruz: Hits in seven straight
De La Cruz went 2-for-4 with a walk, a stolen base and an RBI in Saturday's 8-5 loss to Baltimore.
De La Cruz's RBI single in the second inning gave the Reds a 4-3 lead and extended his hit streak to seven games, during which he's gone 10-for-29 (.345). He then stole second base, advanced to third on a sacrifice fly and nearly scored a run on an infield single, but an Orioles challenge overturned a call for the third out. De La Cruz once again showed he's past the hamstring injury that forced him to miss the first three weeks in June -- the stolen base was his third in the last two contests.

Reds' Hunter Greene: Hit around in season debut
Greene (0-1) took the loss against the Orioles on Saturday, allowing eight runs on seven hits and four walks with seven strikeouts over 3.1 innings.
Greene allowed a three-run homer in the first inning before being charged with five runs while recording only one out in the fourth. On the bright side, he generated an impressive 15 swinging strikes on 89 pitches in his first start since undergoing elbow surgery in March. He'll look to continue shaking off the rust in one final start before the All-Star break, which lines up as a home matchup with the Cubs next weekend.

Arroyo is not in the Reds' starting lineup against the Orioles on Saturday.
Arroyo will be on the bench for the beginning of Saturday's game while Matt McLain starts at second base and bats ninth. Arroyo has gone 1-for-13 with four strikeouts over his last four games and is slashing .244/.294/.282 with four RBI and three doubles over 86 plate appearances this season.
