Reds' Elly De La Cruz: Ramping up recovery work
De La Cruz (hamstring) is scheduled to begin running Tuesday and Wednesday, and will begin his rehab assignment on Friday with Triple-A Gwinnett, C. Trent Rosecrans of The Athletic reports.
After landing on the injured list June 1, De La Cruz is slated to begin physical activities Tuesday. The 24-year-old is supposed to begin his rehab assignment with five innings of action Friday, a start at DH on Saturday and taking the field at shortstop on Sunday for the Triple-A team. With De La Cruz's hamstring nearly 90 percent healed, the shortstop is much closer to joining the big-league club.

Reds' Sal Stewart: Logs 11th steal in win
Stewart went 1-for-4 with a walk, an RBI and two runs scored in Monday's 12-0 win over the Mets.
Stewart reached base via a walk in the first inning and stole a base before scoring on Eugenio Suarez's three-run home run. For Stewart, the steal was his 11th of the season and first in 25 games. He doesn't look the part of a base stealer, but the corner infielder has been successful on 11 of 13 attempts this season and has double-digit steals every year since 2023.

Reds' JJ Bleday: Blasts 13th homer in blowout win
Bleday went 2-for-4 with a home run, a walk and four RBI in Sunday's 12-0 win over the Mets.
With Cincinnati already in control, Bleday put an exclamation point on the offensive outburst by launching a three-run homer off David Peterson in the eighth inning. The blast was his 13th of the season and continued a recent power surge, as he has now homered three times over his last five games. The outfielder is now slashing .272/.367/.586 with 10 doubles, one triple, 34 RBI, 26 runs scored and two stolen bases across 188 plate appearances.

Reds' Eugenio Suarez: Drives in six with two homers
Suarez went 2-for-4 with two home runs and six RBI in Monday's 12-0 win over the Mets.
Suarez wasted no time powering Cincinnati's offense, launching a two-run homer off Tobias Myers in the first inning before adding a grand slam in the second to give the Reds an early lead they would never relinquish. The veteran third baseman did all of his damage in the game's first two frames, finishing with a season-high six RBI and recording his first multi-homer game of the year. Suarez is now batting .222 alongside a .682 OPS with seven home runs, seven doubles, 25 RBI and 16 runs scored across 45 games.

Reds' Chase Burns: Fans seven in eighth win
Burns (8-1) earned the win Monday against the Mets, allowing four hits and three walks while striking out seven over five scoreless innings.
Burns continued his remarkable campaign Monday, throwing 64 of his 100 pitches for strikes while racking up 19 whiffs. The right-hander was electric from the start, striking out six of the first eight batters he faced. He ran into trouble in both the fourth and fifth innings but escaped bases-loaded jams each time to preserve the shutout. Burns has now held opponents to two runs or fewer in 13 of his 14 starts this season and has recorded at least seven strikeouts in 11 of them. The 23-year-old now owns a stellar 2.01 ERA, 1.02 WHIP and 95:26 K:BB across 80.2 innings. He slated to face the Yankees on the road in his next start.

Reds' Elly De La Cruz: Nearing rehab assignment
De La Cruz (hamstring) could be cleared to begin a rehab assignment this weekend at a yet-to-be-determined affiliate, C. Trent Rosecrans of The Athletic reports.
The Reds plan to have De La Cruz test his strained right hamstring by running the bases Monday and Tuesday, and if all goes well, the 24-year-old will join a minor-league affiliate for what would presumably be a short rehab stint before he returns to the big club next week. While De La Cruz has been shelved, Matt McLain has taken over as the Reds' primary shortstop, which has cleared the way for Edwin Arroyo and Spencer Steer to pick up more reps at second base.

Reds' Nathaniel Lowe: Left out of starting nine
Lowe is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Mets.
The Reds will give Lowe a breather after he started six of the team's last seven games while going 6-for-15 with six walks and a run. Spencer Steer will step in for Lowe at first base and will bat cleanup.

Reds' Pierce Johnson: Facing hitters Monday
Johnson (elbow) is scheduled to face live hitters in a simulated game or batting practice Monday, Charlie Goldsmith of Fox 19 Now Cincinnati reports.
Johnson has spent just over the minimum amount of time on the 15-day injured list after being deactivated May 30 due to right elbow inflammation, so if he fares well in Monday's live session, he could bypass a rehab assignment and rejoin the Cincinnati bullpen later this week. The right-hander has been a key high-leverage arm for the Reds this season, notching two wins, four holds and one save while pitching to a 3.27 ERA and 1.23 WHIP over 22 innings.

Reds' Emilio Pagan: Increasing activity
Pagan (hamstring) threw a bullpen session Saturday and is expected to throw another Monday, C. Trent Rosecrans of The Athletic reports.
If Pagan comes out of Monday's session without incident, then he could face live hitters as soon as Friday. A separate report on MLB.com indicates the reliever will throw a simulated game/live BP on Tuesday. However the schedule shakes out, Pagan is ramping up activity and could be back with the Reds before the end of June.

Reds' Sam Haggerty: Joins Reds on MiLB pact
Haggerty signed a minor-league contract with the Reds on Sunday.
The Reds assigned Haggerty to Triple-A Louisville, where he'll help restore some outfield depth after Noelvi Marte was recently promoted to the majors. Before being released by Texas on June 7, Haggerty struggled to a .159/.213/.182 slash line over 47 plate appearances with the big club while being deployed mostly as a short-side platoon player.

Reds' Noelvi Marte: Homers again Sunday
Marte went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Sunday's 5-3 loss to the Diamondbacks.
Marte tied the game in the sixth inning with a 448-foot blast of Zac Gallen, his third homer of the year, all of which have come in his last three games. The 24-year-old Marte has seen steady playing time in the outfield since returning to the majors earlier this month. He's gone 8-for-26 (.308) with a 1.049 OPS in nine games since his recall after slashing just .138/.194/.138 across 11 contests earlier in the season. One major difference between how Marte is hitting now compared to earlier this season is that he's not chasing balls outside the zone, per C. Trent Rosecrans of The Athletic. During his initial stint, he had 10 strikeouts over 31 plate appearances compared to just five in 28 PAs since his recall.

Reds' Andrew Abbott: Solid in no-decision
Abbott did not factor into the decision Sunday against the Diamondbacks, allowing a run on four hits and three walks over five innings. He struck out five.
Abbott was sharp Sunday, with the lone run he allowed coming on a Tommy Troy solo homer in the third inning. Abbott has held opponents to three runs or fewer while going at least five innings in each of his last nine starts, posting a 2.29 ERA in that span (51 innings). Overall, Abbott's ERA is down to 3.95 with a 1.41 WHIP and 58:36 K:BB across 15 starts (79.2 innings) this season. The southpaw is currently lined up to face the Yankees on the road in his next outing.

Reds' Tyler Stephenson: Getting Sunday off
Stephenson is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Diamondbacks.
Stephenson started the first two games of the series and will take a seat for the finale after going 0-for-6 with five strikeouts. Jose Trevino (hamstring) is starting behind the plate in his return from the injured list Sunday.

Reds' Spencer Steer: Not in Sunday's lineup
Steer is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Diamondbacks.
Steer started the past four games and went 1-for-16 with a homer during that stretch, and his struggles extend beyond that with just one hit in his last eight contests. Noelvi Marte is picking up a start in right field for the series finale versus Arizona.

Reds' Emilio Pagan: Ready to throw live BP
Pagan (hamstring) is scheduled to throw a live bullpen session Friday, Charlie Goldsmith of Fox 19 Now Cincinnati reports.
Per MLB.com, Pagan had already tossed a pair of bullpen sessions, so this is the next step in his recovery, with a rehab assignment potentially on the horizon. Pagan has been on the shelf since May 6 due to a Grade 2 left hamstring strain, and the Reds' closer situation has been mostly a mess in his absence.

Reds' Hunter Greene: Starting rehab assignment Thursday
Greene (elbow) is slated to begin a rehab assignment Thursday in the rookie-level Arizona Complex League, Charlie Goldsmith of Fox 19 Now Cincinnati reports.
On the shelf all season while recovering from March 11 surgery to remove bone chips from his right elbow, Greene has now been cleared for a rehab stint after completing a series of bullpen sessions and live throwing sessions over the past few weeks. Due to the length of his absence, Greene could need most of his 30-day rehab window to get fully stretched out, though manager Terry Francona said earlier this month that the right-hander is expected to return from the 60-day injured list at some point prior to the All-Star break.
