Top Islanders News

  • Islanders' Cole Eiserman: Three helpers in AHL win

Eiserman logged three assists in AHL Bridgeport's 5-2 win over Hartford on Wednesday.

Across his first 10 AHL games, Eiserman has seven points, 18 shots on net and a minus-4 rating. This was his first multi-point effort. Eiserman likely will get a look with the Islanders in training camp, but he probably needs more development time in the AHL before becoming a full-time option at the NHL level.

  • Islanders' Victor Eklund: Sent down to minors

Eklund was reassigned to AHL Bridgeport on Wednesday.

Eklund made his NHL debut versus the Hurricanes on Tuesday, producing his first NHL point. Looking ahead to the 2026-27 campaign, Eklund should have the inside track to securing a spot on the Opening Night roster, though he could also be moved to the minors to ensure he gets minutes in a more prominent role.

  • Islanders' Liam Foudy: Sent to AHL

Foudy was reassigned to AHL Bridgeport on Wednesday, per Andrew Gross of Newsday.

Foudy recorded one shot, one hit and one block in 11:17 of ice time in the Islanders' 2-1 loss to Carolina on Tuesday. It was his lone NHL game of 2025-26, but he's also recorded 25 goals and 46 points in 58 outings with Bridgeport this season. Foudy will shift his focus to helping Bridgeport in the upcoming Calder Cup Playoffs.

  • Islanders' Isaiah George: Returning to minors

George will be reassigned to AHL Bridgeport on Wednesday, Andrew Gross of Newsday reports.

George appeared in four games for the Islanders this year, recording one assist, one hit and two shots while averaging 13:22 of ice time. While the 22-year-old blueliner hasn't secured his place on the NHL roster, he should be in the mix for a spot in the Opening Night lineup for the 2026-27 campaign.

  • Islanders' Calum Ritchie: Moved to the minors

Ritchie was reassigned to AHL Bridgeport on Wednesday.

Ritchie played in 65 regular-season games this year in which he notched 13 goals and 17 assists, including 11 power-play points. While the 21-year-old forward will finish the season in the minors, he will likely be a full-time NHL player in the 2026-27 campaign and should be capable of improving upon his statistics.

  • Islanders' Quinn Finley: Signs two-year deal

Finley agreed to terms on a two-year, entry-level contract with the Islanders on Wednesday.

Finley will forgo his senior season at the University of Wisconsin after having racked up 17 goals and 16 assists in 36 games for the Badgers this year. Selected by the club in the third round of the 2022 NHL Draft, the 21-year-old winger figures to spend the 2026-27 campaign developing in the minors.

  • Islanders' Victor Eklund: Logs assist in NHL debut

Eklund posted an assist, two shots on goal and two hits in Tuesday's 2-1 loss to the Hurricanes.

This was Eklund's NHL debut after he spent seven games with AHL Bridgeport. He had nine points in those contests. Eklund's scoring skill has translated well since he came over from the SHL in March, and he'll be in contention for an NHL job in 2026-27.

  • Islanders' Bo Horvat: Nets 300th career goal

Horvat scored a goal on two shots in Tuesday's 2-1 loss to the Hurricanes.

It was the 300th goal of Horvat's career, a milestone he reached in his 881st game. That puts a positive spin on the end of the campaign, though Horvat will no doubt be disappointed to miss the playoffs. He snapped an eight-game goal drought Tuesday and ends the season with 31 tallies, 57 points, 226 shots on net, 51 hits, 38 blocked shots, 40 PIM and a plus-8 rating over 68 appearances. That matches his point total from 81 regular-season contests a year ago, and this was the fourth time in five years he got over the 30-goal mark.

  • Islanders' David Rittich: Gets little help in Tuesday's loss

Rittich turned aside 19 shots in Tuesday's 2-1 loss to the Hurricanes.

Goals by Nikolaj Ehlers in the first period and Mark Jankowski in the third sent Rittich to the loss in the Islanders' season finale. The 33-year-old Rittich wraps up his first, and potentially his last, season on Long Island with a 14-10-3 record, a 2.76 GAA and an .894 save percentage. Rittich will be an unrestricted free agent this offseason and shouldn't have trouble finding a landing spot with a team in need of an experienced No. 2.

  • Islanders' Kyle Palmieri: Will be ready for training camp

Palmieri (knee) told reporters Wednesday that he should be ready to go for the start of training camp, Stefen Rosner of NHL.com reports.

Palmieri suffered a torn ACL back in November but appears to be on track in his recovery. Prior to getting hurt, the veteran winger logged 25 games for the Isles in which he notched six goals and 12 assists, including five power-play points. Palmieri will head into 2026-27 in the last season of a two-year deal he signed with the club in May of 2025 and could be entering the final season of his NHL career.

  • Islanders' Max Shabanov: Missing finale

Shabanov (upper body) won't play in Tuesday's game versus the Hurricanes, Andrew Gross of Newsday reports.

Shabanov will miss a third straight game to end the season. The 25-year-old rookie ended up producing five goals, 13 assists and 56 shots on net over 44 appearances. He will be out of contract this summer as a restricted free agent.

  • Islanders' Ryan Pulock: Sitting out season finale

Pulock (undisclosed) will not play in Tuesday's home matchup versus Carolina.

The Islanders relayed in their announcement that Pulock has been contending with several injuries. The right-shot blueliner will now turn his attention to healing up in the offseason in order to be ready for training camp in the fall. Isaiah George will draw into the lineup in the Isles' regular-season finale.

  • Islanders' David Rittich: Set to face Hurricanes

Rittich is expected to protect the home net against Carolina on Tuesday, according to Luca Dallasta of the Islanders' official site.

Rittich will make his first start since March 24 against Chicago, when he allowed three goals on 12 shots before being pulled after the first period. He has a 14-9-3 record this campaign with two shutouts, a 2.78 GAA and an .894 save percentage across 29 appearances. Carolina sits second in the league with 3.57 goals per game this season.

  • Islanders' Semyon Varlamov: Sent down on conditioning stint

Varlamov was reassigned to AHL Bridgeport on a conditioning assignment Tuesday.

Varlamov was already ruled out for the remainder of the 2025-26 campaign with the Islanders, but his conditioning stint could open the door for him to feature for AHL Bridgeport in one of the club's final three regular-season games. The decision could also be just about getting the netminder extra practice time, as the Islanders wrap up their season against the Hurricanes on Tuesday.

... See More ... See Less
  • Islanders' Liam Foudy: Joining NHL club

Foudy was called up from AHL Bridgeport on Tuesday.

Foudy hasn't gotten into an NHL game this season, featuring exclusively in the minors where he has racked up 46 points in 58 games for AHL Bridgeport. Fantasy managers can expect the 26-year-old center to get into Tuesday's matchup with the Hurricanes. Selected 18th overall in the 2018 NHL Draft, Foudy's brief cameo could open the door for him to secure a roster spot heading into the 2026-27 campaign.

  • Islanders' Victor Eklund: Called up from minors

Eklund was promoted from AHL Bridgeport on Tuesday.

Eklund, along with Liam Foudy, has presumably been added to the NHL roster in order to suit up in the season finale versus Carolina on Tuesday. After coming over from Sweden in late March, the 19-year-old winger has logged seven games for AHL Bridgeport in which he has tallied two goals and seven helpers. If he can show that level of offensive upside at training camp in the fall, Eklund should have a good chance of making the 2026-27 Opening Night roster.

  • Islanders' Casey Cizikas: Pots goal vs. Habs

Cizikas scored a goal in Sunday's 4-1 loss to the Canadiens.

Cizikas found the back of the net at the 8:45 mark of the third period with a wrister, but his goal couldn't spark a comeback as the Islanders were officially knocked out of playoff contention with this loss. This was Cizikas' first goal since March 28, and he has 10 goals on the season. However, he's not expected to carry a ton of fantasy appeal ahead of Tuesday's regular-season finale against the Hurricanes as a bottom-six forward who has scored just three goals in his last 21 outings dating back to the beginning of March.

... See More ... See Less
  • Islanders' Ilya Sorokin: Gives up four goals

Sorokin stopped 18 of 22 shots in Sunday's 4-1 loss to the Canadiens.

Sorokin was beaten three times in a 55-second span in the second period, and that was a hole the Islanders couldn't come back from. Ultimately, this defeat means the Islanders won't be playing in the postsesaon, and thus, it's unclear if Sorokin will get the start in the regular-season finale against the Hurricanes on Tuesday. He has started every one of the last 14 games for the Isles, going 5-9-0 with a 3.17 GAA and an .882 save percentage in that span.
