Swayman will start on the road for Tuesday's preseason contest against the Flyers.
Swayman will make his 2026-27 preseason debut Tuesday after Michael DiPietro helped guide the Bruins to a shootout win in the team's preseason opener. The 27-year-old Swayman took a big step forward last season, as he posted a 31-18-4 record, a 2.71 GAA and a .907 save percentage across 55 regular-season outings. He proved that he can handle a true starter's workload, which he will likely see in the early stages of 2026-27 as DiPietro ramps up to speed as Boston's projected new backup.

Bruins' Charlie McAvoy: Receives whopping 28:35 of ice time Sunday
McAvoy (suspension) logged an even-strength goal on three shots and four PIM in a game-high 28:35 of ice time during Sunday's 3-2 shootout win over the Capitals in preseason play.
McAvoy is set to serve a six-game suspension to begin the year after slashing the Sabres' Zach Benson during the Bruins' first-round series loss last season. While the right-shot defenseman's draft stock may have dipped ever so slightly because of the suspension, fantasy managers should keep in mind that McAvoy is coming off a career-best year (11 goals, 61 points in 69 regular-season games), so don't let him fall too far in upcoming drafts. The 28-year-old is eligible to make his 2026-27 debut Oct. 13 in San Jose.

Bruins' Michael DiPietro: Makes 30 saves in preseason win
DiPietro turned aside 30 of 32 shots during Sunday's 3-2 preseason overtime win over the Capitals.
DiPietro drew the start during Sunday's preseason opener and played the entire matchup. He faced plenty of shots and was productive en route to the overtime victory. DiPietro made just one regular-season appearance at the NHL level last year but will likely serve as Jeremy Swayman's backup to begin the 2026-27 season.

Bruins' Michael DiPietro: Facing Capitals on Sunday
DiPietro will patrol the home crease in Sunday's preseason matchup against Washington, according to Belle Fraser of the Bruins' official site.
DiPietro posted a superb 34-8-1 record with a 1.91 GAA and a .930 save percentage in 45 regular-season appearances for AHL Providence in 2025-26. He will likely begin the 2026-27 campaign as Jeremy Swayman's backup.

Bruins' Navrin Mutter: Lands on waivers
Mutter was placed on waivers by the Bruins on Sunday, per Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet.
Mutter was deemed the odd-man out among Boston's depth forwards Sunday and will head to waivers. The 25-year-old winger was acquired by Boston midway through the 2025-26 campaign, and he posted a goal and 23 PIM across 12 regular-season games with AHL Providence. If the gritty forward is not claimed over the next 24 hours, he will be eligible to return to Providence ahead of his first full season in Boston's organization after four years with AHL Milwaukee.

Bruins' James Hagens: Draws praise following rookie camp
Head coach Marco Sturm said Wednesday that Hagens seized an opportunity to shine during rookie camp, Joe Haggerty of Boston Sports Journal reports.
Sturm said Hagens' participation in rookie camp gave the young forward a head start going into training camp. The 19-year-old Hagens worked hard to prepare for the likelihood of playing regularly in the NHL in 2026-27. Hagens made a pair of regular-season appearances with Boston last year, recording an assist, two PIM and a hit while averaging 14:33 of ice time per game. He spent most of 2025-26 at Boston College, where he recorded 23 goals, 24 assists and 24 PIM across 34 outings.

Bruins' Mason Lohrei: Tasked with producing more offense
Lohrei and the blue line will be asked to provide more offensive production this season, Joe Haggerty of Boston Sports Journal reports Wednesday.
Lohrei produced seven goals and 19 assists in 73 regular-season games last year, with five power-play points, but he ended the year mired in a 17-game goalless streak, including the playoffs. If the 25-year-old defenseman can offer more with the man advantage, he should be capable of getting back over the 30-point threshold or even push for 40.

Bruins' Pavel Zacha: Remains in talks with Boston about future
General manager Don Sweeney said Wednesday that the team remains in communication with Zacha's representation regarding his future, Joe Haggerty of Boston Sports Journal reports.
Zacha, a potential unrestricted free agent next summer, has been speculated as a trade candidate. However, Sweeney spoke about the 29-year-old forward's importance to the club and indicated that the Bruins are interested in a contract extension. Zacha has made at least 78 regular-season appearances in each of his four years with the Bruins, most recently recording 30 goals, 35 assists, 64 hits, 28 PIM and 26 blocked shots across 78 regular-season appearances in 2025-26.

Poitras agreed to terms on a one-year, two-way contract with Boston on Wednesday.
Poitras was limited to just three regular-season appearances for the Bruins last season, scoring one goal on eight shots while averaging 12:07 of ice time. While the 22-year-old center was significantly more productive in the minors, registering 44 points in 69 regular-season contests with AHL Providence, he hasn't been able to translate that scoring touch to the NHL level.

Bruins' Nikita Zadorov: Deemed healthy for this season
Zadorov has moved past his knee injury and will be at the Bruins' training camp, which begins Wednesday, Kevin Paul Dupont of The Boston Globe reports.
Zadorov played through a torn MCL during the Bruins' first-round series loss against the Sabres last season. General manager Don Sweeney said Monday that the team is not dealing with any injuries, which suggests that Zadorov will have no restrictions when training camp begins. Locmelis saw action in just 43 games for AHL Providence last season in which he generated 15 goals and 13 assists before being sidelined by a shoulder problem. Bruins' Fraser Minten: Secures long-term extension
Minten agreed to terms on a seven-year, $50.4 million contract extension with Boston on Tuesday.
Minten put together a solid 2025-26 campaign in which he racked up 17 goals and 18 assists in 82 regular-season contests. It was the 22-year-old center's first full NHL campaign, but it seems the Bruins aren't too concerned about it being a one-off year. If Minten can secure more opportunities with the man advantage, he should be capable of pushing those career-best numbers even higher in 2026-27.

Duran has spent the last two seasons in the organization, and he got a brief taste of NHL action during the 2024-25 campaign by making a pair of regular-season appearances for Boston. Across 72 regular-season games with AHL Providence last year, he recorded seven goals, 12 assists and 22 PIM. Patera has some NHL experience under his belt, but he's spent most of his career in the minors. He went 12-14-4 with a 2.63 GAA and .910 save percentage over 30 regular-season appearances with AHL Abbotsford last year. However, he could compete for the No. 2 role behind Jeremy Swayman with his new team.

Borgen will add some toughness in a bottom-four role on the Bruins' blue line.
