Top Sabres News

  • Sabres' Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen: Patrolling road paint

Luukkonen will start in Monday's road game against the Blackhawks, per Rachel Lenzi of The Buffalo News.

Luukkonen will look to stay hot in Monday's contest after earning a win in four of his last five starts. Overall, the 27-year-old netminder has a 21-9-3 record, a 2.56 GAA and a .908 save percentage across 34 appearances this season. He's been a big reason why the Sabres currently sit atop the Atlantic Division, and he'll have extra motivation in Monday's contest to make sure they keep two points in hand on the surging Canadiens. Luukkonen will face off against a Blackhawks offense that ranks tied for 31st in the NHL with 2.55 goals per game this season.

  • Sabres' Noah Ostlund: Not expected back in regular season

Ostlund (upper body) likely won't play before the end of the regular season, according to Heather Engel of NHL.com on Saturday.

Ostlund has already sat out the last eight games. However, head coach Lindy Ruff is hopeful that the 22-year-old forward will be an option in the playoffs. Ostlund has 11 goals, 27 points, 60 shots on net and 30 blocked shots in 60 appearances this season.

  • Sabres' Tyson Kozak: Garners helper in win

Kozak notched an assist, two shots on goal and two hits in Thursday's 5-0 win over the Blue Jackets.

Kozak has filled a part-time role since returning to action March 17 after a six-game absence due to an undisclosed injury. With the helper, he has five points in 44 outings, matching his total from 21 games a year ago. Kozak has tacked on 29 shots on net, 111 hits, 35 blocked shots and a minus-1 rating this season. Given his production and role, he is unlikely to be an everyday player during the Sabres' playoff run.

  • Sabres' Logan Stanley: Dishes two helpers in win

Stanley logged two assists and a plus-2 rating in Thursday's 5-0 win over the Blue Jackets.

Stanley was a scratch Wednesday versus the Rangers, sitting out for the first time since his March 10 debut with the Sabres. He's earned just four points, all helpers, over 15 contests for his new team, as it appears his goal scoring was left behind in Winnipeg. The defenseman is at 25 points, 93 shots on net, 109 hits, 84 blocked shots, 126 PIM and a plus-2 rating over 74 appearances between the two teams this season.

  • Sabres' Josh Norris: Contributes two assists

Norris logged a pair of assists and went plus-3 in Thursday's 5-0 win over the Blue Jackets.

Norris helped out on a Peyton Krebs goal in the first period as well as the second of Josh Doan's tallies in the third. With a goal and six assists over his last six games, Norris has been a steady contributor from a middle-six role late in the regular season. He's at 32 points, 65 shots on net, 28 PIM, 23 hits, 23 blocked shots and a plus-9 rating over 42 appearances this season, which is production a little better than his usual on a per-game basis.

  • Sabres' Rasmus Dahlin: Fills empty cage

Dahlin scored an empty-net goal on three shots and went plus-2 in Thursday's 5-0 win over the Blue Jackets.

Dahlin has two goals and three assists during his four-game point streak. The 25-year-old defenseman is up to 19 goals and 72 points this season, one shy of matching his career high in both categories. He's added 194 shots on net, 67 hits, 79 blocked shots, 74 PIM and a plus-16 rating over 76 appearances. While the drop in physicality isn't great, Dahlin remains a quality source of all-around production and is in his prime years.

  • Sabres' Peyton Krebs: Nine points in last 13 games

Krebs scored a goal and added four hits and a blocked shot Thursday in a 5-0 win over the Blue Jackets.

Krebs is now just one point from the 40-point mark this season -- that's a big jump from his previous career mark of 28 points, which he set last season. Krebs has been on a warming trend since mid-March. He has nine points (three goals, six assists), 16 shots and 35 hits in his last 13 games. Overall, Krebs has a career-high 194 hits this season.

  • Sabres' Colten Ellis: First career NHL shutout

Ellis made 37 saves in a 5-0 win over Columbus on Thursday.

It was Ellis' first start and just his second appearance for Buffalo since Feb. 3, and he stepped up with his first career shutout. Ellis' 37 saves are tied for the third-most by a rookie netminder in a shutout in Sabres history. Linus Ullmark stopped 40 and Martin Biron made 39 saves. Ellis is slotted into the No. 2 spot behind Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen in Buffalo since Alex Lyon is out for at least a week due to a lower-body injury.

  • Sabres' Jack Quinn: Hits 20 goals for first time

Quinn scored a goal Thursday in a 5-0 win over Columbus.

It was Quinn's 20th goal of the season, the first time he's hit that mark in the NHL. Quinn has 51 points to go along with 51 hits, 25 blocked shots and 18 PIM in 80 games this season, and he's a consistent presence on the Sabres' second line. Quinn's role during the 2025-26 campaign has increased compared to the previous season, and he has a promising future with Buffalo at just 24 years old.

  • Sabres' Josh Doan: Three-game, four-point streak

Doan scored twice and added a blocked shot Thursday in a 5-0 win over the Blue Jackets.

Doan is on a three-game, four-point streak (two goals, two assists), and he has 25 goals and 51 points through 80 games this season, marking a considerable bump in production compared to his first two seasons in the league. Doan could push for the 30-goal, 60-point and 100-hit thresholds by next season, making him an intriguing fantasy option for the 2026-27 campaign.

  • Sabres' Sam Carrick: Will miss start of playoffs

Carrick (arm) won't be ready for the start of the postseason, Rachel Lenzi of The Buffalo News reports Thursday.

Carrick is still considered week-to-week. The 34-year-old will fill a fourth-line role once he's healthy again, but it's unclear when that will happen, as the Sabres haven't provided a firm timeline for his return.

  • Sabres' Noah Ostlund: Still sidelined Thursday

Ostlund (lower body) won't play Thursday versus the Blue Jackets, Rachel Lenzi of The Buffalo News reports.

Ostlund is set to miss his eighth consecutive game. He has two more chances to return in the regular season, as the Sabres face the Blackhawks on Monday and the Stars on Wednesday.

  • Sabres' Alex Lyon: Might miss start of playoffs

Lyon (lower body) is likely to be out for about a week, per Mike Harrington of The Buffalo News.

Lyon left Wednesday's morning skate after tweaking something. He has a 20-10-4 record, 2.77 GAA and .906 save percentage in 36 outings in 2025-26. It's not clear if he'll be ready for the start of the playoffs. Colten Ellis is expected to start at home against Columbus on Thursday, while Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen will serve as the understudy. However, if Lyon isn't ready for the start of the playoffs, then Ellis is likely to serve as the No. 2 option in Game 1, while Luukkonen will probably play between the pipes.

  • Sabres' Colten Ellis: Starting against Columbus

Ellis will start at home against the Blue Jackets on Thursday, Mike Harrington of The Buffalo News reports.

Ellis has seen minimal work in recent weeks, but he'll likely serve as the No. 2 option behind Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen over the final week of the regular season, and potentially the start of the playoffs, since Alex Lyon (lower body) is considered week-to-week. Across 14 appearances this year, Ellis has gone 7-4-1 with a 3.13 GAA and .895 save percentage.

  • Sabres' Alex Tuch: Nets tying goal

Tuch scored a goal and blocked two shots in Wednesday's 5-3 win over the Rangers.

Tuch has scored in consecutive games and has four points over his last five contests. His tally Wednesday tied the game at 3-3 early in the third period. The veteran winger is up to 31 goals, 63 points, 189 shots on net, 87 blocked shots, 81 hits, 57 PIM and a plus-22 rating through 76 appearances. Tuch's well-rounded production makes him an excellent option in most fantasy formats.

  • Sabres' Ryan McLeod: Goal, assist in Wednesday's win

McLeod scored a goal on two shots, dished an assist and went plus-2 in Wednesday's 5-3 win over the Rangers.

McLeod opened the scoring at 4:40 of the first period and set up Jason Zucker's game-winner in the third. The 26-year-old McLeod had gone 16 games without a goal, supplying seven assists and just 10 shots on net in that span. Despite the shaky offense, he's maintained a second-line role. He's now at 13 goals, 53 points, 89 shots on net and a plus-23 rating over 79 appearances, matching his career-high point total from last year.
