  • Mammoth's Matt Villalta: Sent back to minors

Villalta was reassigned to AHL Tucson on Monday, per Cole Bagley of KSL Sports.

Villalta will return to Tucson after serving as Vitek Vanecek's backup in the absence of Karel Vejmelka (undisclosed) in Sunday's game versus the Flames. Across 33 outings with the Roadrunners this season, Villalta has a 16-12-3 record, a 3.10 GAA and an .895 save percentage. With Tucson's next game not until Wednesday, Villalta's return to the AHL indicates that Vejmelka might be ready to play in the Mammoth's contest versus the Jets on Tuesday. If not, Villalta could return to the NHL club Tuesday to serve behind Vanecek once more.

  • Mammoth's MacKenzie Weegar: Plucks apple in loss

Weegar notched an assist, two shots on goal, two hits and three blocked shots in Sunday's 4-1 loss to the Flames.

Weegar was able to get on the scoresheet in his first game back in Calgary since he was dealt to Utah. The defenseman missed a game due to an upper-body injury earlier in April, so it wouldn't be a surprise if he got rested for one or both of the Mammoth's last two contests before the playoffs. In 77 outings between the Flames and the Mammoth this season, he has four goals, 22 helpers, 153 shots on net, 166 hits, 173 blocked shots, 84 PIM and a minus-32 rating.

  • Mammoth's Lawson Crouse: Breaks up shutout bid

Crouse scored a goal on two shots in Sunday's 4-1 loss to the Flames.

Crouse has three goals and two assists over his last five games. The 28-year-old's tally at 11:20 of the third period denied Dustin Wolf a shot at a shutout. Crouse has been dialed in on the top line lately and is up to 23 goals, 43 points, 138 shots on net, 206 hits, 52 blocked shots, 44 PIM and a plus-23 rating over 79 appearances. He's operating at the upper end of his usual production range, but a gig alongside Clayton Keller makes Crouse worth keeping in mind as a streaming target to close out the fantasy playoffs.

  • Mammoth's Vitek Vanecek: Yields four goals in loss

Vanecek stopped 19 of 23 shots in Sunday's 4-1 loss to the Flames.

The Mammoth were a little sloppy in the first period, including Vanecek's own shaky play, and that ended up being the difference. The 30-year-old netminder hadn't played since March 26 versus the Capitals. With the Mammoth locked into a wild-card spot, they may opt to rest Karel Vejmelka ahead of an anticipated heavy workload in the playoffs. Vanecek is at 5-12-3 wit ha 2.93 GAA and an .883 save percentage over 21 appearances this season and hasn't been very effective in the backup role. The Mammoth have two games left on the regular-season slate -- Tuesday versus the Jets and Thursday versus the Blues, both of which are home games.

  • Mammoth's John Marino: Won't play Sunday

Marino (upper body) won't play in Sunday's game against Calgary.

Marino missed Saturday's matchup against Carolina due to his upper-body injury, and he'll be unavailable for the second half of the back-to-back set. He's considered day-to-day for now, but it's not yet clear whether he'll be available against the Jets on Tuesday.

  • Mammoth's Kevin Rooney: Summoned from Tucson

Rooney was recalled from AHL Tucson on Sunday.

Rooney has played in just one game with the Mammoth this season, though he scored a goal on his lone shot in Dallas on Nov. 28. The 32-year-old forward has accounted for 12 goals, 24 points and a minus-3 rating over 44 appearances with the Roadrunners in 2025-26.

  • Mammoth's Matt Villalta: Brought up Sunday

Villalta was recalled from AHL Tucson on Sunday.

Karel Vejmelka (undisclosed) is not suiting up for Sunday's matchup in Calgary, so Villalta will serve as Vitek Vanecek's backup for at least one game. The 26-year-old Villalta has a 16-12-3 record, .895 save percentage and 3.10 GAA over 33 outings with the Roadrunners in 2025-26.

  • Mammoth's Vitek Vanecek: Starting in Calgary

Vanecek will be in goal Sunday in Calgary, per Pat Steinberg of Sportsnet 960 The Fan.

This will be Vanecek's first start since March 26 against the Capitals, when he surrendered six goals on 23 shots in a 7-4 loss. The Czech netminder has played in just six games since March 5, posting a 2-2-1 record, 2.72 GAA and .890 save percentage in that time. The Flames have dropped three consecutive games against Dallas, Colorado and Seattle, netting a total of just five goals during their skid.

  • Mammoth's Karel Vejmelka: Won't dress against Calgary

Vejmelka won't dress for Sunday's road game against Calgary for an undisclosed reason.

While the exact reason for Vejmelka's absence isn't yet clear, he's likely getting a night off since the Mammoth have clinched a playoff spot. Vitek Vanecek will draw the start against Calgary, while Matt Villalta was called up from AHL Tucson to serve as the No. 2 option. It's not yet clear whether Vejmelka will start in either of Utah's final two regular-season games, which are Tuesday at home against Winnipeg and Thursday at home against the Blues.

  • Mammoth's Dylan Guenther: Eclipses 40 goals in loss

Guenther tallied a power-play goal and placed four shots on net in Saturday's 4-1 loss to Carolina.

Guenther lit the lamp on a power play less than three minutes into the third period to bring the Mammoth within one goal. With Saturday's goal, Guenther became just the 12th player in the NHL to score 40 or more goals this season. Overall, the 23-year-old Guenther has taken a big step forward this season with 72 points, 240 shots on net, 63 hits and 28 blocked shots across 77 games. He's been scorching lately with six goals and 13 points during his seven-game point streak, making him an elite fantasy player to roster for the remainder of the fantasy playoffs.

  • Mammoth's Karel Vejmelka: Allows three goals in loss

Vejmelka stopped 26 of 29 shots on net in Saturday's 4-1 loss to the Hurricanes.

Overall, he now holds a 37-20-3 record, a 2.72 GAA and an .897 save percentage through 62 appearances this season. Saturday's loss snapped the 29-year-old netminder's five-game win streak, as he ended up with his first regulation loss since March 24. Vejmelka has been one of the league's true workhorse goalies this season and still has a chance to tie or surpass Tampa Bay's Andrei Vasilevskiy for most wins by a netminder in the NHL this season.

The 19-year-old is up to five goals and 12 assists over seven playoff outings in total, with six of his efforts going for multiple points. Beaudoin's already had his most productive postseason in his four years of junior hockey, and he's showing no signs of slowing down.

  • Mammoth's John Marino: Not playing Saturday

Marino (upper body) is day-to-day and won't play against Carolina on Saturday.

Marino will miss at least one game, and Dmitri Simashev will suit up against the Hurricanes on Saturday. Marino has supplied four goals, 35 points, 53 shots on net and 67 blocked shots across 78 appearances this season.

The Mammoth prospect was a big performer for Moncton last postseason, earning 22 points in 19 contests. He carried that momentum over in the 2025-26 regular season with 34 goals and 77 points across 60 appearances in his fourth campaign in the QMJHL.
