Vierling suffered the injury during Saturday's 6-5 extra-inning loss to the Angels, when he fouled a pitch off his foot in the top of the 10th. Preliminary X-rays came back clean, but the 27-year-old wasn't moving well in pregame workouts Sunday, per Chris McCosky of The Detroit News. Vierling should be considered day-to-day and will have Monday's team off day to aid in his recovery ahead of Tuesday's series opener in Minnesota.

Vierling took Spencer Turnbull deep in the second pitch of the game for his second leadoff blast this season. The 27-year-old has been hitting leadoff nearly every day for almost a month now and carries a .254/.288/.449 line for the season.
