Tolle (8-6) earned the win against the Blue Jays on Thursday, allowing no runs on two hits and two walks in eight innings. He struck out four.

Tolle was magnificent, scattering two singles across eight shutout innings. The southpaw fell short of what could've been his first career shutout -- he threw 91 pitches Thursday -- but he was still able to match his longest outing of the campaign and fired at least six innings while yielding two runs or fewer in a third consecutive outing. Tolle will try to keep the good times going when he brings an excellent 2.97 ERA, 1.06 WHIP and 128:31 K:BB over 115 innings into his next scheduled start against Arizona.

Scherzer (1-5) took the loss against the Red Sox on Thursday, allowing one run on three hits and two walks in five innings. He struck out four.

The 42-year-old right-hander looked spry on the bump Thursday, throwing a season-high 92 pitches in a strong outing. Scherzer is slowly beginning to turn an injury-plagued year around, tossing at least five innings while conceding three runs or fewer in three consecutive starts. He'll next set his sights toward improving on a career-worst 6.59 ERA, 1.46 WHIP and 31:17 K:BB over 41 innings in a road matchup with the first-place Rays in pitcher-friendly Tampa Bay.

Fried (4-4) took the loss against the Mariners on Thursday, allowing one run on five hits and two walks in five innings. He struck out four.

Other than serving up a solo home run to Weston Wilson in the second inning, Fried delivered another fine performance Thursday. It was the southpaw's third straight start of at least five innings while yielding one run or zero, a feat he's accomplished in four of his past five outings since coming off the injured list. Fried will carry a stellar 2.81 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and 79:27 K:BB over 86.1 innings into his next scheduled appearance in Baltimore.

Gilbert (9-7) earned the win against the Yankees on Thursday, allowing no runs on four hits and one walk in six innings. He struck out seven.

Gilbert shut down the Yankees on Thursday, turning in his third consecutive quality start in a scoreless gem. The right-hander has been as reliable as any starter in the major leagues this season, working at least five innings in 18 straight starts and giving up more than three runs just five times over 24 outings overall. Gilbert will take an outstanding 3.28 ERA, 0.99 WHIP and 152:33 K:BB across 145.1 innings into his next scheduled appearance in Milwaukee.

Martin was ejected from Thursday's start against the Reds in the third inning after hitting Sal Stewart with a pitch, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports.

Stewart homered off Martin in the first inning and then was the leadoff hitter in the top of the third. Martin's second pitch of the latter plate appearance sailed over Stewart's head, and the next offering clipped Stewart's helmet, prompting Martin's ejection. The right-hander was ultimately charged with four runs on two hits and three walks over two-plus innings. Martin is tentatively lined up to face the Cubs next Tuesday, but he's facing a likely suspension as a result of Thursday's incident.

Lopez (shoulder) struck out four and allowed one hit and no walks over two scoreless innings in relief for Double-A Frisco on Wednesday after being reinstated from the 7-day injured list Tuesday.

Lopez began the season as a member of the Frisco rotation, delivering a 7.20 ERA, 1.97 WHIP and 42:22 K:BB in 35 innings over eight starts before hitting the shelf May 27 due to right shoulder fatigue. The 24-year-old right-hander didn't require a rehab assignment prior to being activated, but Frisco may have elected to deploy him in relief for his first appearance in more than two months as a means of easing him back in while he builds up his pitch count. Lopez possesses a spot on the Rangers' 40-man roster, but he doesn't appear to be on the radar for a September call-up.

Arrighetti (foot) will resume a rehab assignment with Triple-A Buffalo on Sunday, Shi Davidi of Sportsnet.ca reports.

Arrighetti was diagnosed with Morton's Neuroma in his right foot and had to be pulled off his initial rehab assignment with the issue, but the plan is for him to receive treatment and pitch through it. The righty is slated to throw 45-to-60 pitches for Buffalo, and he could be ready to join the Blue Jays' rotation after that.

Springs (hip) completed a bullpen session Tuesday, MLB.com reports.

Springs came out of the session feeling healthy, with the Athletics still determining the next step in his recovery. The veteran southpaw landed on the injured list Aug. 4 due to right hip discomfort. Before hitting the shelf, Springs struggled to a 3-11 record with a 6.17 ERA, 1.48 WHIP and 88:44 K:BB across 108 innings (22 starts) this season.

Imai did not factor into the decision Wednesday against the Giants, allowing three hits and two walks over three scoreless innings. He struck out three.

Making his second appearance in relief for the Astros, Imai managed to work his way through danger -- including a bases-loaded jam in the second inning -- ultimately holding San Francisco scoreless. Imai has now delivered back-to-back scoreless outings out of the bullpen, allowing just three hits while striking out eight over six innings in that span. Overall, his ERA sits at 5.29 this season with a 1.47 WHIP and 80:42 K:BB across 64.2 innings.

Klassen (1-1) allowed two runs on five hits, one walk and one hit batsman while striking out five over six innings to earn the win over the Rangers on Wednesday.

Klassen has looked much sharper during his second stint in the majors, allowing just three runs over 10 innings across two starts, though he has an 8:5 K:BB in that span. The right-hander could have a chance to start regularly down the stretch if he can build off his first career quality start, though he'll have to compete with Ryan Johnson for the last spot in the rotation when Yusei Kikuchi (shoulder) is activated. Klassen is at a 5.52 ERA, 2.11 WHIP and 14:15 K:BB through 14.2 innings across four starts, but his numbers are still skewed by his two poor outings in April. He's tentatively lined up for a road start in Houston next week.
