Colts' Alec Pierce: Discusses ankle surgery
Pierce (ankle) revealed Wednesday that he underwent surgery this spring after not getting the results he wanted from a platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injection at the start of the offseason, JJ Stankevitz of Colts.com reports.
Pierce didn't elaborate on the specifics of his injury or surgery, but he at least clarified the general timeline while speaking with reporters. His left ankle has bothered him since the end of the 2024 season, and he dealt with soreness throughout 2025 while recording his first 1,000-yard campaign. He hoped the issue would resolve this winter with a PRP injection and subsequent rehab program (estimated at 6-to-8 weeks), but the ankle didn't get much better, leaving Pierce to choose between surgery or playing through the injury again. He and the Colts agreed on surgery as the solution in late March, only a few weeks after reaching agreement on a four-year, $114 million contract (with $60 million guaranteed at signing). The Colts presumably knew surgery was a possibility when they gave Pierce the huge contract; relations appear amicable between player and team. In any case, Pierce now faces an estimated rehab process of 4-to-6 months, making him uncertain for the start of training camp. He'll be about five and a half months removed from surgery when the Colts host the Ravens in Week 1 (Sept. 13).

Colts' Reuben Lowery: Lands on reserve/retired list
The Colts placed Lowery (undisclosed) on the reserve/retired list Tuesday.
Lowery's NFL career has come to an end after just one season. The 23-year-old spent time with both the Ravens and Colts and amassed five tackles (one solo) across three games while playing on both defense and special teams.

Colts' Alec Pierce: May miss start of training camp
Coach Shane Steichen acknowledged Tuesday that Pierce, who is bouncing back from an offseason ankle procedure, isn't a lock to be ready for the start of training camp, Stephen Holder of ESPN.com reports.
With regard to the wideout's training camp availability, Steichen noted that it could be "a couple weeks in" before Pierce is ready to practice. That said, there's nothing to suggest his Week 1 status will be affected, and the 26-year-old will reprise a key role in Indy's offense after landing a four-year, $116 million deal to remain with the team, on the heels of a 2025 campaign in which he recorded a 47-1,003-6 line on 84 targets in 15 regular-season games.

Colts' Charvarius Ward: Tending to back tightness
Ward (back) did not participate during the Colts' minicamp session Tuesday, Mike Chappell of Fox 59 News Indianapolis reports.
The issue is not considered serious, and Ward may return to the practice field as soon as Wednesday. The veteran figures to be a key piece of an Indianapolis defense hoping to rebound in 2026.

Colts' Sauce Gardner: Doing drills during OTAs
Gardner (calf) is participating during the Colts' OTAs.
Gardner sat out four of Indianapolis' last five games in 2025 as he dealt with a calf strain, but it doesn't look like it's bothering him during offseason workouts. The Colts will be hoping they can get a healthy, productive season out of the two-time All-Pro in 2026.

Colts' Will Mallory: On field for OTAs
Mallory (lung) is participating during the Colts' OTAs, Kevin Bowen of 107.5 The Fan reports.
Mallory was able to appear in only two games in 2025 in part due to a lung issue, but he's evidently back in shape for football activities with offseason workouts underway. With 2025 first-rounder Tyler Warren, veteran Mo Alie-Cox and in-line specialist Drew Ogletree all returning in 2026, Mallory will have to compete for a spot on Indianapolis' final 53-man roster.

Colts' Anthony Gould: Fielding punts at OTAs
Gould (foot) is one of a few players returning punts during the Colts' OTAs, Kevin Bowen of 107.5 The Fan reports.
Gould appeared in 11 games in his second season last year, accumulating 647 kick return yards and 57 punt return yards before his campaign was cut short by a foot injury. Indianapolis traded starting receiver Michael Pittman to Pittsburgh back in March and didn't make any major acquisitions at wideout during the offseason, so now that he's healthy again, Gould is positioned well to make the final 53-man roster for 2026.

Colts' Easton Stick: Finds a new team
Stick signed with the Colts on Monday.
The quarterback spent the 2025 campaign in Atlanta, rising from the practice squad following Michael Penix's late-season knee injury, though Stick never appeared in a regular-season game. Stick last saw action in 2023 with the Chargers, when he played in five games and finished with 1,129 yards and three touchdowns against one interception. The fifth-round pick of the Chargers in 2019 is likely competing for a backup role again, this time behind Indianapolis' projected starter, Daniel Jones (Achilles).

Colts' Daniel Jones: Progresses to 7-on-7 drills
Jones (Achilles) is participating in 7-on-7 drills Monday, James Boyd of The Athletic reports.
After participating in individual drills the previous week, Jones has progressed to team drills at OTAs. He's 176 days removed from tearing his Achilles, and Jones' ability to ramp up his activity level at OTAs suggests he remains on track to conclude his recovery in time to take the field Week 1 against the Ravens on Sunday, Sept. 13.

Colts' Justin Walley: Back from ACL injrury
Walley (knee) told reporters Wednesday that he's been fully cleared to return, James Boyd of The Athletic reports.
Walley, a 2025 third-round pick from Minnesota, has now fully recovered from an ACL tear that sidelined him for the entirety of his rookie season. With Kenny Moore's release from the Colts in early May, Walley is expected to compete for a starting secondary role as the offseason progresses.

Colts' Daniel Jones: Throwing at OTAs
Jones (Achilles) is present at OTAs on Wednesday and is throwing to teammates on individual routes, Joel Erickson of the Indianapolis Star reports.
Jones continues to progress in his recovery from a torn right Achilles suffered early last December, and it's encouraging to see him already handling individual dropbacks and passing drills at OTAs. While Indianapolis has yet to provide an expected timetable for Jones' return to team drills, after OTAs conclude his next chances to ramp up his activity level will arrive during mandatory minicamp from June 9-11, and then during training camp in July. In Jones' stead on Wednesday, Anthony Richardson started first-team reps for the Colts' offense, Stephen Holder of ESPN.com reports. After signing a two-year, $88 million contract extension in March, Jones is locked in as Indianapolis' starting QB when 100 percent healthy. In April, GM Chris Ballard expressed optimism that Jones could be ready for Week 1, and for his part the 29-year-old signal caller "absolutely" expects to be available at that time, per James Boyd of The Athletic.
