Browns' Mike Hall: Returns to practice
Hall (undisclosed) was a full participant in Tuesday's practice, Zac Jackson of The Athletic reports.
Hall was expected to return to practice sometime this week, so Tuesday's participation is no shock. The defensive tackle missed last Saturday's preseason opener against the Bears due to an unknown issue, but should be set to play a few snaps in next Saturday's contest against the Bills. Hall's return to the lineup means Sam Kamar and Adin Huntington will likely see fewer reps in Saturday's contest.

Browns' Brenden Bates: Moved to IR
Bates (undisclosed) reverted to the Browns' injured reserve list Tuesday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Bates was waived with an injury designation Monday and ended up clearing waivers. The tight end's movement to waivers and subsequent reversion to IR made room for the team to sign his 2026 replacement, Jermaine Terry. Bates will now spend the entirety of the 2026 season on injured reserve unless he is waived with an injury settlement.

Browns' Carsen Ryan: Exits practice early
Ryan (foot) exited Tuesday's practice to talk with trainers, Mary Kay Cabot of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.
The tight end walked to the fieldhouse with a trainer after being checked for a foot injury on the sideline. The advanced analysis could just be for safety, but it looks like Ryan has sustained a potentially problematic foot issue. If the rookie seventh-rounder must miss time, Jack Stoll and Dae'Quan Wright will likely see more opportunities to prove they are 53-man roster material in Saturday's preseason game against the Bills.

Browns' Ben Patterson: Signs with Cleveland
The Browns signed Patterson to a contract Tuesday.
The undrafted free agent out of Texas-Permian Basin was waived by the Jaguars in early August. Patterson is a 6-foot-5, 220-pound wide receiver whose physical traits could make an impact throughout the preseason. The wide receiver was likely signed due to the injuries to Cedric Tillman (undisclosed) and Jamari Thrash (undisclosed). The Browns waived offensive guard Jack Conley in a corresponding move.

Patterson was signed by the Browns on Tuesday, Mary Kay Cabot of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.
The undrafted free agent has found a new spot after being waived by the Jaguars earlier in training camp. Patterson is a unique wideout at 6-foot-5 who averaged 21.2 yards per catch in his final collegiate season at UT Permian Basin.

Browns' Carson Schwesinger: Chance to practice next week
Schwesinger (ankle) could return to practice next week, Daniel Oyefusi of ESPN.com reports.
Schwesinger hasn't practiced since July 31 while nursing an ankle injury, but head coach Todd Monken noted Monday the team is being "overly cautious" with the linebacker. Monken said the hope is Schwesinger will return to practice next week. It doesn't appear the 23-year-old is at risk of missing any regular-season action with the injury.
