Top Wizards News

  • Wizards' Julian Reese: Fills stat sheet Friday

Reese had 10 points (5-11 FG), six rebounds, three assists, one block and two steals across 37 minutes during Friday's 140-117 loss to the Heat.

Reese has been one of the players who has taken the most advantage of his chance to play regularly for the Wizards in recent weeks. The big man fell four boards short of reaching what would've been a fourth consecutive double-double, but he remains a player to target ahead of the regular-season finale Sunday against the Cavaliers since he should continue to see a solid workload in a depleted Washington frontcourt.

  • Wizards' Bilal Coulibaly: Scores 25 points in another loss

Coulibaly ended Friday's 140-117 loss to the Heat with 25 points (9-16 FG, 2-3 3Pt, 5-5 FT), five rebounds, five assists, one block and one steal over 22 minutes.

Coulibaly is expected to be one of the top players in the future of the franchise, and the young Frenchman has shown promise at times throughout the season. This was the first time he reached the 20-point mark since March 27, and he's scored 20-plus points seven times this season. He's struggled to stand out individually at times due to the Wizards' struggles this season, but the talent and upside are clearly there. Coulibaly is certainly worth holding on to in dynasty formats.

  • Wizards' Bub Carrington: Ties season-high scoring mark

Carrington finished with 30 points (11-15 FG, 6-7 3Pt, 2-2 FT), two rebounds, four assists and one steal across 34 minutes during Friday's 140-117 loss to the Heat.

Carrington was extremely efficient, missing just four of his 15 shots from the field. The accuracy allowed him to match his previous season-high scoring output, a 30-point tally in a loss to the Pistons on March 30. Carrington has started in each of the Wizards' last 14 games, and he heads into the regular-season finale at Cleveland on Sunday with averages of 15.0 points and 4.7 assists per game over that stretch.

  • Wizards' Will Riley: Retreating to bench

Riley is not in the starting lineup for Friday's game versus Miami.

Bilal Coulibaly is back from a one-game absence due to a heel injury and is pushing Riley to the second unit. Riley has played at least 25 minutes in each of his last 10 appearances as a reserve, so the rookie first-rounder should still play a key role off the bench Friday.

  • Wizards' Jaden Hardy: Cleared to play vs. Heat

Hardy (back) will be available for Friday's game against the Heat.

Hardy missed the past two games but will be available for the second-to-last game of the season. In 22 appearances with the Wizards, he's averaging 12.9 points, 1.7 rebounds and 1.2 assists in 20.6 minutes.

  • Wizards' Anthony Gill: Suiting up Friday

Gill (back) will play Friday against the Heat.

Gill will play through his injury for the second leg of this back-to-back set. On Thursday against the Bulls, he produced 14 points, three rebounds, three assists, one block and one steal in 39 minutes.

  • Wizards' Bilal Coulibaly: Cleared to play

Coulibaly (heel) is available for Friday's game against the Heat.

The second-year forward is set to return for the second leg of this back-to-back set. Coulibaly may see a modest workload, with the Wizards erring on the side of caution with their key players.

  • Wizards' Tre Johnson: Will not play Friday

Johnson (foot) will be sidelined for Friday's tilt against the Heat.

Friday will mark a fourth straight absence for the rookie, who has just one more chance to take the floor Sunday before the season ends for Washington. If he's already played his final game of the campaign, he'll conclude with averages of 12.2 points, 2.8 rebounds and 2.0 assists in 24.1 minutes.

  • Wizards' Justin Champagnie: Downgraded to out

Champagnie (knee) is out for Friday's game against the Heat.

Champagnie was initially listed as questionable but won't end up seeing the floor. In his absence, more minutes should be available for Leaky Black, Anthony Gill, Jamir Watkins and others.

  • Wizards' Jaden Hardy: Questionable for Friday

Hardy (back) is questionable for Friday's game against Miami.

Hardy remains day-to-day after missing the past two contests for Washington. He could see a sizable workload Friday if he gets the green light to play, given how shorthanded the Wizards will be against the Heat.

  • Wizards' Tristan Vukcevic: Out again Friday

Vukcevic (knee) has been ruled out for Friday's game against the Heat.

Vukcevic will miss a fifth straight game, and his final chance to suit up this season will come Sunday in Cleveland. Julian Reese has been taking advantage of all the injuries in Washington's frontcourt, and that should continue Friday.

  • Wizards' Justin Champagnie: Listed as questionable

Champagnie (knee) is questionable for Friday's game against Miami.

Champagnie is a rest candidate after playing through his questionable tag Thursday against Chicago. He played 18 minutes Thursday with 11 points, eight rebounds and two assists in the loss.

  • Wizards' Bilal Coulibaly: Questionable for Friday

Coulibaly (heel) is questionable for Friday's game against the Heat.

Coulibaly has a chance to return after sitting out the front end of Washington's back-to-back set Thursday, which was a 119-108 loss to the Bulls. Over his past eight appearances, Coulibaly has averaged 14.1 points, 3.8 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 1.3 steals and 1.3 blocks in 24.1 minutes.

... See More ... See Less
  • Wizards' Anthony Gill: Iffy for Friday

Gill (back) is questionable for Friday's game against the Heat.

A maintenance day is on the table for Gill after he played through his questionable tag Thursday. Gill produced 14 points, three rebounds, three assists, one block and one steal in 39 minutes against the Bulls on Thursday.

... See More ... See Less
  • Wizards' Tre Johnson: Iffy for Friday

Johnson (foot) is questionable for Friday's game against the Heat.

Johnson has a chance to return from a three-game absence Friday, but even if he's cleared, he'll likely see limited minutes. He's made only four appearances over Washington's past 11 games, averaging 10.3 points, 3.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists in 23.5 minutes during that span.

... See More ... See Less
  • Wizards' Leaky Black: Posts strong final line

Black amassed 14 points (6-14 FG, 2-8 3Pt), nine rebounds, one block and two steals over 41 minutes during Thursday's 119-108 loss to the Bulls.

Black nearly recorded his first double-double of the season, and he tied his season high in rebounds with a strong night on the glass. He's been heavily involved in the Washington rotation down the stretch of the regular season, as the club has put more emphasis on developing young talent after being eliminated from the postseason. Black could continue to see opportunities in the Wizards' final two matchups of the campaign, especially if Tre Johnson (foot), Bilal Coulibaly (heel) and Jaden Hardy (back) remain sidelined.

... See More ... See Less
  • Wizards' Will Riley: Flirts with triple-double

Riley logged 23 points (8-22 FG, 1-9 3Pt, 6-7 FT), nine rebounds, seven assists, three blocks and three steals across 38 minutes during Thursday's 119-108 loss to the Bulls.

Riley led the Wizards in the scoring department, though he needed 22 field-goal attempts to do so. He remained ice cold from beyond the arc, where he's now 1-for-14 over his previous two appearances. Riley managed to make up for his shooting woes by stuffing the stat sheet, and his production Thursday was much improved in comparison to his final line from Tuesday, when he tallied two points, six rebounds, three assists and two steals in 31 minutes against Chicago.
