Top Wizards News

  • Wizards' Sharife Cooper: Hits for 20 in Miami

Cooper had 20 points (6-10 FG, 3-5 3Pt, 5-6 FT), two rebounds and seven assists over 25 minutes off the bench during Saturday's 152-136 loss to the Heat.

It was the 24-year-old guard's best scoring effort since March 2, when he popped for 21 points against the Rockets. Cooper has played at least 20 minutes in five of the last seven games as he becomes a key part of the injury-depleted Wizards' second unit, averaging 11.3 points, 4.7 assists, 2.4 boards and 0.9 threes during that span.

  • Wizards' Will Riley: Drops career-high 31 in wild loss

Riley recorded 31 points (12-17 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 5-6 FT), five rebounds and five steals across 37 minutes during Saturday's 152-136 loss to Miami.

The 31 points and five steals were both career highs for the 21st overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft, as Riley led the Wizards in scoring on a wild afternoon. He's scored in double digits in 10 of the last 11 games (nine starts), averaging 18.3 points, 3.3 boards, 2.8 assists, 1.8 threes and 1.1 steals in 32.3 minutes over that stretch.

  • Wizards' Anthony Gill: Starting against Heat

Gill will start in Saturday's game against Miami.

With Tristan Vukcevic (knee) ruled out, Gill will make his first start since the 130-117 loss to the Pistons on March 17. In two starts this season, the 33-year-old has averaged 5.0 points, 3.0 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 0.5 blocks and 1.0 steals in 23.5 minutes of action.

  • Wizards' Tristan Vukcevic: Ruled out Saturday

Vukcevic (knee) is out for Saturday's game against Miami.

Vukcevic, who's dealing with a bruised right knee, has a short turnaround Sunday, when the Wizards face the Nets in Brooklyn. Anthony Gill should take on the bulk of the center minutes Saturday.

  • Wizards' Justin Champagnie: Upgraded to available

Champagnie (knee) is available for Saturday's game against the Heat.

The forward is dealing with a bruised right knee but is ready to play Saturday. Champagnie has averaged 11.7 points, 4.1 rebounds and 1.4 assists in 23.1 minutes per tilt in his last seven games.

  • Wizards' Bilal Coulibaly: Upgraded to available Saturday

Coulibaly (heel) is listed as available for Saturday's game against Miami.

Coulibaly didn't play in the 120-101 loss to the Lakers on Monday before subsequently returning for the 153-131 loss to Philadelphia on Wednesday. However, despite making another appearance on the injury report, the 21-year-old has the green light to suit up for his second consecutive contest. Coulibaly is coming off a productive month, averaging 14.8 points, 4.5 rebounds, 2.8 assists, 0.8 blocks and 1.2 steals across 27.8 minutes in March.

  • Wizards' Tre Johnson: Good to go Saturday

Johnson (foot) is available for Saturday's game versus Miami.

A right foot sprain left Johnson's status in danger for Saturday, but he's good to go. Over his last six outings, the rookie first-rounder has averaged 11.0 points, 2.8 rebounds and 1.8 assists in 23.6 minutes per game.

  • Wizards' Alex Sarr: Won't play Saturday

Sarr (toe) is out for Saturday's game against Miami.

Sarr is sidelined for a fourth consecutive contest due to a left toe issue. With Tristan Vukcevic (knee) also out Saturday, Anthony Gill should be in for a massive role at center against the Heat.

  • Wizards' Justin Champagnie: Iffy for Saturday

Champagnie (knee) is listed as questionable for Saturday's game against the Heat.

Champagnie wasn't included on the Wizards' initial injury report but is now in danger of missing Saturday's contest due to a right knee contusion. If he's ultimately ruled out, Leaky Black and Jamir Watkins would be candidates to see an uptick in playing time.

  • Wizards' Trae Young: Won't play Saturday

Young (quadriceps) is out for Saturday's game versus Miami.

The star guard will be sidelined for a 10th consecutive game Saturday. With a lost regular season winding down for the Wizards, it's becoming increasingly more unlikely that Young will suit up again this year.

  • Wizards' Alex Sarr: Questionable for Saturday

Sarr (toe) is questionable for Saturday's game against Miami.

Sarr is trying to end a three-game absence due to a left toe issue. With Tristan Vukcevic (knee) also questionable for Saturday, Anthony Gill could be in for a featured role at center against the Heat.

  • Wizards' Tristan Vukcevic: Iffy for Saturday

Vukcevic (knee) is questionable for Saturday's game against Miami.

Vukcevic is battling a right knee contusion and is considered day-to-day. With Alex Sarr (toe) also questionable, Anthony Gill and Julian Reese may need to soak up a ton of minutes in the frontcourt.

  • Wizards' Tre Johnson: Iffy for Saturday

Johnson (foot) is questionable for Saturday's game versus Miami.

A right foot sprain leaves Johnson's status in question for Saturday. Bub Carrington and Jaden Hardy could see increased playing time in the backcourt versus the Heat if Johnson is ultimately downgraded to out.

  • Wizards' Bilal Coulibaly: Questionable for Saturday

Coulibaly (heel) is questionable for Saturday's game against Miami.

The third-year forward continues to nurse soreness in his right heel. If Coulibaly is unable to push through this issue, the Wizards will likely lean more on Will Riley.

  • Wizards' Kyshawn George: Out for season

George (elbow) will miss the rest of the 2025-26 season, Chase Hughes of Monumental Sports Network reports.

George has been sidelined since March 2 due to a Grade 2 distal UCL tear in his left elbow, and the Wizards had no incentive to rush him back to the court for the last couple of weeks. The forward appeared in 48 regular-season contests with averages of 14.8 points, 5.1 rebounds, 4.5 assists, 1.0 steals and 2.1 three-pointers on 43.8 percent shooting from the field.

  • Wizards' Tristan Vukcevic: Makes most of limited minutes

Vukcevic logged 17 points (6-7 FG, 3-3 3Pt, 2-2 FT), two rebounds, two assists and one steal over 11 minutes during Wednesday's 153-131 loss to the 76ers.

Vukcevic played just 11 minutes despite being in the Wizards' starting lineup and not being in foul trouble. Regardless, he connected on all but one of his field-goal attempts (including all three of his three-point tries) to finished tied with Justin Champagnie as the Wizards' third-leading scorer behind Anthony Gill (21 points) and Will Riley (18 points). Vukcevic has started in each of Washington's last three games and should retain that role for as long as Alex Sarr (toe) is sidelined.

... See More ... See Less
  • Wizards' Anthony Gill: Productive off bench

Gill provided 21 points (8-9 FG, 3-3 3Pt, 2-2 FT), six rebounds and six assists over 35 minutes during Wednesday's 153-131 loss to the 76ers.

Gill got a bit of an extended run in the second half of Wednesday's blowout game. He took advantage of the extra playing time to finish as the Wizards' leading scorer with a career-high 21 points and was also second in both assists and rebounds. Gill has scored in double digits in five of his last seven outings, and over that span he has averaged 13.3 points, 4.4 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.3 steals over 28.7 minutes per game. He'll continue to see more run in games when Alex Sarr (toe) does not play.
