76ers' Joel Embiid: Likely to miss start of playoffs
ESPN's Shams Charania reported Thursday on NBA Today that Embiid (abdomen) isn't expected to be available for the start of the playoffs.
Embiid is only one week removed from undergoing a successful appendectomy, so it's not overly surprising that the superstar big man is still recovering. The 76ers begin their first-round postseason series against the Celtics in Boston on Sunday, and they're likely bracing for Embiid to miss at least Game 1 and Game 2. Philadelphia figures to continue to take a hot-hand approach between Andre Drummond and Adem Bona at center in the interim.

76ers' Justin Edwards: Out of rotation in playoff opener
Edwards (coach's decision) went unused off the bench Wednesday in the 76ers' 109-97 win over the Magic in the Play-In Tournament.
Edwards had appeared in the 76ers' final five games of the regular season and averaged 5.0 points in 13.2 minutes, but he ended up being a casualty of head coach Nick Nurse tightening up his rotation for the start of the playoffs. Unless Philadelphia loses a key player to an injury during its first-round series with the Celtics, Edwards' appearances may be largely limited to garbage-time scenarios.

76ers' Adem Bona: Blocks three shots in start
Bona produced two points (0-1 FG, 2-2 FT), three rebounds and three blocks over 16 minutes during Wednesday's 109-97 Play-In Game victory over the Magic.
Bona remained in the starting lineup, filling in for Joel Embiid (appendicitis), who remains sidelined indefinitely. Despite blocking three shots, Bona served mainly as the backup behind Andre Drummond, who himself had a fantastic night. Should Embiid be forced to miss Sunday's game against Boston, expect Bona to remain in the starting lineup.

76ers' Tyrese Maxey: Powers 76ers to victory
Maxey finished with 31 points (11-25 FG, 3-9 3Pt, 6-8 FT), two rebounds, six assists, one block and one steal over 42 minutes during Wednesday's 109-97 Play-In Game victory over Orlando.
Maxey continued his dominant season, scoring a game-high 31 points, lifting the 76ers to an emphatic victory. Despite being without Joel Embiid (appendicitis), Philadelphia was able to get the job done over a disappointing Magic outfit. Although Boston will go into the first-round series as firm favorites, Maxey will certainly be giving it his all in the hopes of causing an upset.

76ers' Andre Drummond: Dominates both ends in win
Drummond ended with 14 points (5-8 FG, 2-3 3Pt, 2-2 FT), 10 rebounds, two assists, three blocks and three steals across 31 minutes during Wednesday's 109-97 Play-In Game victory over the Magic.
Drummond delivered arguably his best all-around performance of the season, recording his third straight double-double, while also adding a season-high six combined steals and blocks. It was a vintage effort by Drummond, capped off by a game-sealing three-pointer late in the fourth quarter. Wednesday's win sees the 76ers advance to the playoffs, where the Celtics now await.

76ers' Tyrese Maxey: Paces Philadelphia in win
Maxey tallied 31 points (11-25 FG, 3-9 3Pt, 6-8 FT), six assists, two rebounds, one steal and one block across 42 minutes in Wednesday's 109-97 win over the Magic in the Play-In Tournament.
Maxey didn't deliver his most efficient performance but still recorded a team-high 31 points to help Philadelphia secure the seventh seed in the East. Including the regular season, the star point guard has dropped 30-plus points in two of his last three games and 29 times on the campaign. He also dished out a game-high six assists Wednesday. The 76ers are now set to face the Celtics in the first round of the playoffs.

76ers' Trendon Watford: Available Wednesday
Watford (illness) is available for Wednesday's Play-In Tournament game against the Magic, Adam Aaronson of PhillyVoice.com reports.
Watford will shake off his probable tag due to an illness and suit up Wednesday. He logged 15 minutes over only three regular-season appearances in April and isn't likely to see significant burn against Orlando.

76ers' Trendon Watford: Probable for Wednesday
Watford (illness) is listed as probable for Wednesday's Play-In Tournament game against the Magic.
Watford is under the weather but appears likely to suit up for Wednesday's contest. However, he totaled just 15 minutes over three regular-season appearances in April, so he isn't guaranteed to see significant playing time.

76ers' Johni Broome: Still recovering from knee surgery
Broome is out for Wednesday's Play-In Tournament game against the Hornets due to right knee surgery recovery.
The rookie second-rounder underwent surgery in February to repair a torn meniscus, and he remains in recovery mode. Broome has no timetable for a return and can be deemed doubtful for future contests, barring an update from the 76ers to suggest otherwise.

76ers' Joel Embiid: Expected to miss Play-In Tournament
ESPN's Shams Charania reported Monday on NBA Today that Embiid (abdomen) isn't expected to be available for the Play-In Tournament.
This isn't an unexpected update from the Sixers after Embiid underwent a successful appendectomy on Thursday. Charania notes that Embiid is in the early stages of his recovery from surgery, which will need to be followed up with a separate physical rehab before he's cleared for game action. Philly is scheduled to face Orlando on Wednesday and would play again Friday only if it fails to defeat the Magic. Adem Bona and Andre Drummond will be asked to hold down the fort at center until Embiid returns.

76ers' Andre Drummond: Double-double in season finale
Drummond registered 12 points (5-10 FG, 2-3 3Pt), 12 rebounds, three assists, one block and one steal over 23 minutes during Sunday's 126-106 victory over Milwaukee.
Drummond finished the regular season with a double-double, logging 22 minutes of court time after the team sent Adem Bona to the bench. Bona's benching seems to indicate that the youngster will be expected to lead the way under the basket against the Magic on Tuesday, as there is no timetable for Embiid's (abdomen) return from appendicitis. Even if Bona starts, Drummond's extensive postseason experience will come in handy against stalwart big men like Paolo Banchero and Wendell Carter. Drummond averaged 6.4 points, 8.4 rebounds, 1.3 assists and 0.8 blocked shots during his 14th pro season.

76ers' Quentin Grimes: Hits for 20 points from bench
Grimes ended with 20 points (7-13 FG, 4-6 3Pt, 2-2 FT), three rebounds, five assists and one steal in 28 minutes during Sunday's 126-106 win over Milwaukee.
With most of the first unit taking a seat in the second half, Grimes was able to take over the backcourt and show his stuff. Grimes would likely be a starter for most teams in the league, and he displayed his playmaking in 19 starting appearances this season. We may not see much from Grimes in Tuesday's Play-In Game against Orlando, but he'll provide solid second-unit support when needed. Grimes finishes the regular season with averages of 13.4 points, 3.6 rebounds, 3.3 assists, and 0.9 steals over 75 games played.

76ers' Tyrese Maxey: Pulled early in easy win
Maxey produced 21 points (8-13 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 3-3 FT), two rebounds, one assist and one steal over 27 minutes during Sunday's 126-106 win over Milwaukee.
Maxey put together a team-leading 21 points with only 27 minutes of court time. The 76ers wisely let Maxey sit after a productive first half, as the team needs the elite point guard at his best in Tuesday's Play-In Game against Orlando. Maxey enjoyed a spectacular sixth season, averaging 28.3 points, 6.6 assists, 4.1 rebounds and 1.9 steals over 70 games.
