76ers' Joel Embiid: Likely to miss start of playoffs
ESPN's Shams Charania reported Thursday on NBA Today that Embiid (abdomen) isn't expected to be available for the start of the playoffs.
Embiid is only one week removed from undergoing a successful appendectomy, so it's not overly surprising that the superstar big man is still recovering. The 76ers begin their first-round postseason series against the Celtics in Boston on Sunday, and they're likely bracing for Embiid to miss at least Game 1 and Game 2. Philadelphia figures to continue to take a hot-hand approach between Andre Drummond and Adem Bona at center in the interim.

76ers' Joel Embiid: Expected to miss Play-In Tournament
ESPN's Shams Charania reported Monday on NBA Today that Embiid (abdomen) isn't expected to be available for the Play-In Tournament.
This isn't an unexpected update from the Sixers after Embiid underwent a successful appendectomy on Thursday. Charania notes that Embiid is in the early stages of his recovery from surgery, which will need to be followed up with a separate physical rehab before he's cleared for game action. Philly is scheduled to face Orlando on Wednesday and would play again Friday only if it fails to defeat the Magic. Adem Bona and Andre Drummond will be asked to hold down the fort at center until Embiid returns.

76ers' Joel Embiid: Undergoes successful appendectomy
Embiid underwent a successful appendectomy Thursday, and his timeline for a return to basketball activities is uncertain, per Marc J. Spears of ESPN.com.
While the door may be open for Embiid to return at some point during the playoffs if the 76ers go on a deep run, his regular season is over. The star big man had his workload managed all year long, finishing with averages of 26.9 points, 7.7 rebounds, 3.9 assists and 1.2 blocks in 31.6 minutes per tilt in 38 games this season. Philadelphia is set to proceed with Adem Bona and Andre Drummond as its top center choices going forward.

76ers' Joel Embiid: Out with illness
Embiid (illness) won't play in Thursday's game against Houston, per Adam Aaronson of PhillyVoice.com.
After not being on the initial injury report, Embiid presumably woke up under the weather Thursday and was scratched from the lineup. Adem Bona and Andre Drummond figure to split the center minutes evenly against the Rockets.

76ers' Joel Embiid: Needs surgery for appendicitis
The 76ers announced Thursday that Embiid has been diagnosed with appendicitis and needs to undergo surgery.
Embiid was ruled out with an illness ahead of Thursday's game against Houston, but now he's been diagnosed with more than just a minor ailment. It's unclear how much time the star big man will need to miss, though more information about his timeline for a return to the court should come to light once the procedure is completed. With Embiid's status up in the air, Adem Bona and Andre Drummond will hold down the fort at center in the meantime.

76ers' Joel Embiid: Strikes for 34 points in loss
Embiid racked up 34 points (8-19 FG, 2-6 3Pt, 16-19 FT), 12 rebounds, one assist and four blocks in 39 minutes during Monday's 115-102 loss to the Spurs.
Embiid turned in a strong performance on the offensive end after missing Saturday's game against Detroit for rest purposes. He also recorded his second straight double-double with the help of a strong night on the boards, but his impressive final line wasn't quite enough to help Philly secure a victory. Embiid is averaging 28.6 points, 8.8 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 2.2 blocks over his last five outings.

76ers' Joel Embiid: Not listed on injury report
Embiid (oblique) has been removed from the injury report ahead of Monday's game against the Spurs.
Embiid skipped the second leg of a back-to-back set Saturday for rest purposes, but he'll be back in action Monday evening, which should shift Andre Drummond back to the second unit. There will also be fewer minutes available for Adem Bona with Embiid active.

76ers' Joel Embiid: Not playing Saturday
Embiid (oblique) won't play in Saturday's game against Detroit, Adam Aaronson of PhillyVoice.com reports.
Embiid had a 19-point, 13-rebound double-double with seven assists and three blocks across 34 minutes in Friday's 115-103 win over the Timberwolves. However, as expected, he won't play Saturday versus the Pistons, the second game of a back-to-back. Without Embiid, Adem Bona is the favorite to re-enter the starting lineup, with Andre Drummond likely to see minutes behind him from the bench.

76ers' Joel Embiid: Double-doubles in victory
Embiid contributed 19 points (6-17 FG, 1-6 3Pt, 6-7 FT), 13 rebounds, seven assists and three blocks across 34 minutes in Friday's 115-103 win over Minnesota.
Embiid stuffed the stat sheet in his return from a one-game absence due to an illness, securing his ninth outing with a double-double or better across 37 regular-season appearances. The star big man struggled with efficiency but finished as Philadelphia's fourth-leading scorer. He led the Sixers in rebounds and tied Dominick Barlow for the game-high mark in blocks. Additionally, Embiid dished out the second-most assists in the contest behind Tyrese Maxey (eight).

76ers' Joel Embiid: Upgraded to probable
Embiid (illness) has been upgraded to probable for Friday's game versus Minnesota.

76ers' Joel Embiid: Unlikely to play vs. Minnesota
Embiid (illness) is doubtful for Friday's game against the Timberwolves.
Embiid looks to be in line for his second consecutive absence while dealing with an illness. Adem Bona drew the start in his place Wednesday and is a candidate to do so again Friday, though the Sixers could also elect to give Andre Drummond an opportunity to start in Embiid's place.

76ers' Joel Embiid: Won't play Wednesday
Embiid (illness) is out for Wednesday's game against the Wizards.
After not being listed on the initial injury report, which dropped Tuesday, Embiid popped up Wednesday morning as out due to an illness. He then posted on X saying he was going to play through the ailment, which wouldn't have been surprising after he did so Monday in Miami, posting 26 points (10-25 FG, 2-6 3Pt, 4-5 FT), seven rebounds, three assists and one block in 34 minutes. However, Embiid has since posted on X again, saying that the organization is indeed shutting him down against Washington. Team president Daryl Morey confirmed Embiid will be out, saying the center missed the team's morning film session and will be checked out by a doctor, Gina Mizell of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

76ers' Joel Embiid: Status in doubt
Embiid (illness) is officially listed as out on Philadelphia's injury report, but the superstar big man posted on X saying he was going to play Wednesday against the Wizards.
Embiid wasn't listed on the initial injury report, which dropped Tuesday, but he popped up Wednesday morning as out due to an illness. He played through an ailment Monday in Miami, posting 26 points (10-25 FG, 2-6 3Pt, 4-5 FT), seven rebounds, three assists and one block in 34 minutes, so the downgrade was surprising. The 76ers have yet to officially upgrade Embiid, and fantasy managers should assume he won't play until that happens. Adam Aaronson of PhillyVoice.com suggests that Embiid's post was a joke for April Fools' Day.

76ers' Joel Embiid: Ruled out for Wednesday
Embiid (illness) is out for Wednesday's game against the Wizards, Noah Levick of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports.
Embiid wasn't previously on the injury report, so this is an unfortunate development for his fantasy managers. He was dealing with an illness back on Monday against Miami, yet he posted 26 points (10-25 FG, 2-6 3Pt, 4-5 FT), seven rebounds, three assists and one block in 34 minutes. Embiid himself posted on social media that he's going to play, but several beat reporters have shut down that notion. Adem Bona and Andre Drummond will likely pick up some minutes with Embiid on the shelf.
