From June 15 through June 25, Goodman made nine starts at either catcher or designated hitter over a 10-game stretch and slashed .310/.333/.862 with five home runs, 10 RBI and seven runs. Despite his recent success, Goodman's avenue to regular playing time at either spot now appears to be blocked with the returns Elias Diaz and Charlie Blackmon from the injured list over the weekend. Goodman will take a seat for the fourth time in five games, and his starting opportunities could be largely limited to left-handed pitching moving forward now that the Rockies have regained health.

Goodman is on the bench Wednesday, but he seems to have settled into a near-everyday role of late while moving between designated hitter and catcher. He had started in nine of the Rockies' previous 10 games, going 10-for-37 with five home runs, one double, 10 RBI and seven runs over that stretch.
Goodman went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run Friday against the Nationals.
Goodman was in the lineup for the sixth time in the last seven games -- three of which have come at catcher -- due to the absences of Elias Diaz (calf) and Charlie Blackmon (hamstring). He's gone 7-for-25 in that span while also popping four homers. Neither Blackmon nor Diaz have a clear timeline to return, meaning Goodman should continue to play regularly in the short term, perhaps even enough behind the plate to gain catcher eligibility.

Goodman started each of the last four games -- two at designated hitter, two at catcher -- and went 6-for-17 with three home runs and one double, but he hasn't quite seized hold of an everyday role just yet. Jacob Stallings remains the Rockies' No. 1 catcher while Elias Diaz (calf) is on the shelf, and Charlie Blackmon and Elehuris Montero are also expected to factor into the mix at DH until Kris Bryant (oblique) returns from the injured list. Goodman may need to turn in a few more quality performances at the plate in his subsequent starts before the Rockies make him a fixture in the lineup.

Goodman made his second straight start at DH and belted a two-run blast in the ninth inning. The 24-year-old slugged two homers two days earlier while making a start at catcher. Goodman is still slashing just .195/.235/.455 of the season, but he's shown promising power with five long balls over 81 plate appearances. He'd become much more intriguing from a fantasy perspective if he logs enough games behind the plate to earn positional eligibility there.
