Guardians' Jose Ramirez: Undergoes surgery, out 5-7 weeks
Ramirez underwent surgery to address the hamate bone fracture in his left hand Tuesday and is expected to be sidelined 5-to-7 weeks, Zack Meisel of The Athletic reports.
The veteran third baseman sustained the injury over the weekend against the Tigers and will now be sidelined through the All-Star break. Ramirez hasn't produced at his usual level this season with just 10 homers and a .757 OPS through 72 games, though his 24 stolen bases did put him on pace for a career high prior to the injury.

Guardians' Jose Ramirez: Lands on IL with hamate fracture
The Guardians placed Ramirez (hand) on the 10-day injured list Sunday, Zack Meisel of The Athletic reports.
The move was a foregone conclusion after the seven-time All-Star was diagnosed with a left hamate bone fracture following Saturday's game. Cleveland reinstated Gabriel Arias (wrist) from the 60-day IL in a corresponding move, and he and Daniel Schneemann are likely to be the primary options at third base while Ramirez is sidelined. The Guardians haven't provided an official target date for Ramirez's return, but recovery timelines for hamate bone fractures typically range from four to eight weeks.

Guardians' Jose Ramirez: Fractures wrist Saturday
Cleveland announced Saturday that Ramirez has a left hamate bone fracture, Tim Stebbins of MLB.com reports.
Ramirez was taken out of Saturday's ball game against Detroit in the sixth inning with what is now determined to be a left hamate bone fracture. The 33-year-old was slashing .238/.339/.415 in 310 plate appearances this campaign, well below his career averages of .278/.352/.500. The Guardians have yet to determine who will replace Ramirez on the active roster, but look for David Fry and Daniel Schneemann to get more playing time at third base in his absence.

Guardians' Jose Ramirez: Pulled from game Saturday
Ramirez was removed from Saturday's tilt against Detroit in the sixth inning for unspecified reasons, Zack Meisel of The Athletic reports.
It's not immediately clear why Ramirez was removed, but he fouled out during a plate appearance in the bottom of the fifth inning and was pulled for a defensive substitute in the top of the sixth. His removal is the continuation of a brutal day for the Guardians, who earlier lost outfielders Chase DeLauter (ribs) and Angel Martinez (foot) due to injuries. Cleveland has consequently had to shuffle around players on defense Saturday -- Daniel Schneemann is playing third base, Kyle Manzardo has entered at first base, Steven Kwan has taken over in center field and Rhys Hoskins is in left field for his first appearance in the outfield since 2018.

Ramirez went 1-for-3 with a solo home run, an additional run, two walks and a stolen base in a 6-0 win against the Rangers on Saturday.
Ramirez opened the scoring with a solo homer in the fourth inning and added a walk, a stolen base and a run one frame later. It was the fourth time this season that the veteran third baseman has gone deep and swiped a bag in the same game, and two of those performances have come over his past four contests. Ramirez's power numbers are a bit down this season -- he has 10 homers through 66 contests -- but he's been as productive a base stealer as ever, as he's tied for first in the majors with 23 thefts. He's on pace to easily surpass his career-best mark of 44 stolen bases, which he established last year.

It's been a minute in terms of leaving the yard for Ramirez, who endured a 13-game stretch without a home run. The blast was his ninth in 63 games. He also extended a hit streak to five games, which is part of a longer stretch in which Ramirez has emerged from a season-opening slump. He was batting just .207 on May 14 but has gone 23-for-69 (.333) with 12 extra-base hits and 16 RBI over 18 games since. The 33-year-old is up to a season high .245 average.

Ramirez took Tejay Antone deep for a two-run homer in the eighth inning that capped Cleveland's offensive outburst Sunday. Ramirez stole both second and third base in the eighth inning, and he came home to score in the same frame on an error by Reds reliever Connor Phillips to extend the Guardians' lead to three runs. It was the fourth time this season that Ramirez logged two steals in a game, with two of those coming in his last three outings. Guardians' Jose Ramirez: Hits big milestone Saturday
Ramirez went 1-for-6 with a double, a run scored, two RBI and a stolen base in Saturday's 14-6 win over the A's.
The steal was Ramirez's AL-leading 13th of the season and the 300th of his MLB career, making him just the second player in Cleveland franchise history to reach that milestone after Kenny Lofton. Ramirez also has 291 career homers, putting him weeks away from becoming the ninth member of the exclusive 300-300 club -- a group that includes Hall of Famers Willie Mays, Andre Dawson and Carlos Beltran, as well as Alex Rodriguez and the father and son duo of Bobby and Barry Bonds. Steve Finley and Reggie Sanders round out the list. Through 34 games this season, Ramirez is slashing .214/.336/.421 with six homers, 14 RBI and 20 runs.
