  • Guardians' Jose Ramirez: Involved in win

Ramirez batted second and went 3-for-5 with a double and two runs scored in Tuesday's 8-1 win over the Giants. Ramirez, who was moved up a spot in the order to take the place of an injured Chase DeLauter (hamstring), has hit safely in three consecutive contests. He's gone 6-for-11 during the mini streak, which is a sign he's coming around after a slow start since returning from a wrist injury July 22. Prior to the streak, Ramirez batted .197 (12-for-61) over the previous 18 games.

  • Guardians' Jose Ramirez: Gets Guardians on board early

Ramirez went 1-for-3 with a double, an RBI and a run scored in Saturday's 6-1 win over San Diego. Ramirez, who returned to action after getting a rest day Friday, doubled and scored the Guardians' first run in the first inning. He later hit a sacrifice fly to drive in their fourth run. Ramirez has been grinding (12-for-61) since coming off the injured list in July, and he's having his playing time managed. In a positive sign, two of his three batted-ball events Saturday had exit velocities greater than 100 mph, including the double which clocked in at 103.5 mph, the fourth-hardest hit ball he's logged since his return.

  • Guardians' Jose Ramirez: Expected back Saturday

Ramirez will return to the lineup Saturday after sitting out Friday as part of planned maintenance since he returned from a hamate injury, Tim Stebbins of MLB.com reports. Ramirez bypassed a rehab assignment and returned directly from the injured list to the Guardians' roster July 22. Manager Stephen Vogt knew he would need to be mindful of how much Ramirez plays and when. The third baseman has started 16 of 21 games and posted a .197/.333/.197 slash line since his return .

  • Guardians' Jose Ramirez: Out of lineup Friday

Ramirez is not in the lineup for Friday's game against the Padres. Angel Genao is starting at third base and batting sixth, while Steven Kwan is leading off as the Guardians' designated hitter. In 17 games since returning from the injured list, Ramirez is slashing .197/.333/.197 with zero extra-base hits, four RBI, 11 runs scored, five stolen bases and a 12:3 BB:K across 75 plate appearances.

  • Guardians' Jose Ramirez: Returns to lineup Sunday

Ramirez went 2-for-3 with a walk, a stolen base and an RBI in Sunday's 5-3 loss to the White Sox. Ramirez returned to the lineup after getting Saturday off and made an immediate impact with a run-scoring single in Cleveland's two-run first inning. A sore hand caused him to miss two games in the middle of last week, and there was concern the soreness was related to the surgery he underwent on the same hand in June and led to Saturday's day off. Since returning from the orignal hand injury, Ramirez has gone 12-for-52 (.231) with eight walks, five steals, three RBI and 10 runs scored over 15 contests.

  • Guardians' Jose Ramirez: Out of lineup Saturday

Ramirez isn't starting for Cleveland versus the White Sox on Saturday, Tim Stebbins of MLB.com reports. Ramirez didn't start Tuesday or Wednesday due to a sore left hand, but he returned to the lineup Thursday and Friday, going 2-for-7 with two walks, four runs and a stolen base over the pair of contests. It's not immediately clear if his absence Saturday is due to continued soreness or if it's just a rest day. Angel Genao is starting at third base in Ramirez's stead, while Chase DeLauter is serving as the DH.

  • Guardians' Jose Ramirez: Crosses plate twice in win

Ramirez went 1-for-4 with two runs scored, a walk and a stolen base in Friday's 8-2 win over the White Sox. Ramirez recorded his second consecutive game with multiple runs scored Friday. The 33-year-old swiped his 28th bag of the season in the first inning and then scored on a two-run single by Angel Martinez. On the campaign, the switch-hitting Ramirez has slashed .234/.334/.386 with 10 home runs, 35 RBI, 28 stolen bases and 52 runs over 369 plate appearances.

  • Guardians' Jose Ramirez: Logs hit in return

Ramirez started at third base and went 1-for-3 with a walk and two runs scored in Thursday's 13-6 loss to the Mets. Ramirez returned to action after missing two games due to a sore left hand. There was some concern about the injury, which is the same hand that was operated on in June, but it looks like the Guardians' star has bounced back quickly.

  • Guardians' Jose Ramirez: Nursing sore left hand

Ramirez is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Mets due to soreness in his left hand, Paul Hoynes of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports. Ramirez underwent surgery on the same hand in mid-June to repair a hamate fracture, though it's unclear if the soreness is related to that injury. The veteran third baseman has been struggling at the plate lately with a .478 OPS since the All-Star break. He should be considered day-to-day until the team updates his status.

  • Guardians' Jose Ramirez: Taking seat Tuesday

Ramirez is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Mets. The All-Star third baseman started the previous eight games and will receive a day off after batting .182 (6-for-33) during that stretch. Gabriel Arias will fill in at the hot corner Tuesday while Ramirez takes a day to reset.

  • Guardians' Jose Ramirez: Swipes two bags in matinee

Ramirez went 2-for-5 with two runs scored and two stolen bases in the first game of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Reds. The star third baseman produced a run nearly single-handedly in the fifth inning of an eventual 6-5 win for Cleveland, reaching on a one-out single, swiping second and third off the battery of Chase Burns and Tyler Stephenson, and then coming home on a Chase DeLauter sacrifice fly. Ramirez, who stole his first bags since returning from a hand injury July 22, is up to 26 steals on the season in just 78 games. After an 0-for-4 showing in the nightcap, he carries a .235/.332/.399 slash line with 10 homers, 35 RBI and 45 runs.

  • Guardians' Jose Ramirez: Two RBI in return to lineup

Ramirez went 2-for-5 with two RBI and a run scored in the 10-6 defeat to Minnesota on Wednesday. Ramirez got a big ovation from the Progressive Field crowd in his first game back in five weeks because of a hand injury. The former All-Star showed why he is one of the perennial top athletes in the sport with two RBI and a created run by tagging to second on a flyout and subsequently scoring on a bloop single.

  • Guardians' Jose Ramirez: Reinstated from injured list

The Guardians activated Ramirez (hand) from the 10-day injured list Wednesday, Tim Stebbins of MLB.com reports. Ramirez will skip a rehab assignment and return from a five-plus week absence due to hamate bone surgery. Players coming back from hamate bone injuries can sometimes take awhile to get all of their power back, and Ramirez not knocking off rust with some rehab games won't help his chances of hitting the ground running. That said, the superstar remains a must-start in fantasy leagues whenever he is active.

  • Guardians' Jose Ramirez: May avoid rehab assignment

Ramirez (hand) may not require a rehab assignment before his activation from the 10-day injured list, MLB.com reports. Ramirez, who recently ramped up to facing live pitching, is still on target to meet his initial 5-7 week recovery timeline. If he avoids an assignment, Ramirez could rejoin the Guardians at some point in late July.

  • Guardians' Jose Ramirez: Progressing through tee work

Ramirez (hand) has been hitting off a tee and is expected to face overhand pitching soon, Tim Stebbins of MLB.com reports. The star third baseman had the stitches removed from his surgically repaired left hand Tuesday, and it sounds as though he was immediately cleared to pick up a bat. Ramirez is aiming to return shortly after the All-Star break.

  • Guardians' Jose Ramirez: Stitches removed

Ramirez had stitches removed from his left hand Tuesday and could soon begin swinging a bat as the next step in his rehab process, Tim Stebbins of MLB.com reports. Ramirez previously had begun gripping a bat, going through fielding drills and throwing out to 140 feet before Tuesday's milestone. Cleveland manager Stephen Vogt indicated the 33-year-old third baseman is still on the same 5-to-7 week timeline. Ramirez underwent surgery on his left hamate two weeks ago.

  • Guardians' Jose Ramirez: Lands on IL with hamate fracture

The Guardians placed Ramirez (hand) on the 10-day injured list Sunday, Zack Meisel of The Athletic reports. The move was a foregone conclusion after the seven-time All-Star was diagnosed with a left hamate bone fracture following Saturday's game. Cleveland reinstated Gabriel Arias (wrist) from the 60-day IL in a corresponding move, and he and Daniel Schneemann are likely to be the primary options at third base while Ramirez is sidelined. The Guardians haven't provided an official target date for Ramirez's return, but recovery timelines for hamate bone fractures typically range from four to eight weeks.

  • Guardians' Jose Ramirez: Fractures wrist Saturday

Cleveland announced Saturday that Ramirez has a left hamate bone fracture, Tim Stebbins of MLB.com reports. Ramirez was taken out of Saturday's ball game against Detroit in the sixth inning with what is now determined to be a left hamate bone fracture. The 33-year-old was slashing .238/.339/.415 in 310 plate appearances this campaign, well below his career averages of .278/.352/.500. The Guardians have yet to determine who will replace Ramirez on the active roster, but look for David Fry and Daniel Schneemann to get more playing time at third base in his absence.

  • Guardians' Jose Ramirez: Pulled from game Saturday

Ramirez was removed from Saturday's tilt against Detroit in the sixth inning for unspecified reasons, Zack Meisel of The Athletic reports. It's not immediately clear why Ramirez was removed, but he fouled out during a plate appearance in the bottom of the fifth inning and was pulled for a defensive substitute in the top of the sixth. His removal is the continuation of a brutal day for the Guardians, who earlier lost outfielders Chase DeLauter (ribs) and Angel Martinez (foot) due to injuries. Cleveland has consequently had to shuffle around players on defense Saturday -- Daniel Schneemann is playing third base, Kyle Manzardo has entered at first base, Steven Kwan has taken over in center field and Rhys Hoskins is in left field for his first appearance in the outfield since 2018.

  • Guardians' Jose Ramirez: Records homer, steal in victory

Ramirez went 1-for-3 with a solo home run, an additional run, two walks and a stolen base in a 6-0 win against the Rangers on Saturday. Ramirez opened the scoring with a solo homer in the fourth inning and added a walk, a stolen base and a run one frame later. It was the fourth time this season that the veteran third baseman has gone deep and swiped a bag in the same game, and two of those performances have come over his past four contests. Ramirez's power numbers are a bit down this season -- he has 10 homers through 66 contests -- but he's been as productive a base stealer as ever, as he's tied for first in the majors with 23 thefts. He's on pace to easily surpass his career-best mark of 44 stolen bases, which he established last year.
