  • Timberwolves' Jaylen Clark: To re-sign with Minnesota

Clark will sign a three-year, $10 million contract with the Timberwolves, Chris Hine of The Minnesota Star Tribune reports Friday.

The defensive-minded wing will re-sign with Minnesota after spending the first two years of his career with the club. He saw relatively consistent minutes before the Timberwolves traded for Ayo Dosunmu last season, though Clark could have a clearer path to consistent playing time in 2026-27 due to Naz Reid and Julius Randle no longer being in the picture. In addition, Donte DiVincenzo is expected to miss most, if not all, of the season after rupturing his Achilles in the first round of the playoffs. Over 68 regular-season appearances (one start) last season, Clark averaged 4.0 points, 1.8 rebounds and 0.7 steals in 13.1 minutes per game.

  • Timberwolves' Rudy Gobert: Could see uptick in value

Gobert should benefit from sharing the floor with one of the league's best passers in LaMelo Ball, according to Cholo Magsino of Yahoo Sports.

Minnesota's lack of a traditional point guard had occasionally limited Gobert's offensive opportunities, and Ball's pick-and-roll ability could help maximize the veteran center's efficiency. However, the departures of Naz Reid and Julius Randle may place additional frontcourt responsibilities on Gobert entering his age-34 season, as Jaden McDaniels is now expected to start at power forward.

  • Timberwolves' Jaden McDaniels: Larger role incoming?

McDaniels appears positioned for an even larger role after Minnesota acquired LaMelo Ball while retaining its defensive core, according to Cholo Magsino of Yahoo Sports.

The versatile forward was reportedly considered off-limits in trade discussions and remains one of the organization's foundational pieces alongside Edwards. Ball's playmaking ability could create more scoring opportunities for McDaniels, particularly as a cutter and transition threat. His defensive responsibilities should remain substantial.

  • Timberwolves' Anthony Edwards: New backcourt partner coming

The Timberwolves' acquisition of LaMelo Ball gives Edwards the star playmaker Minnesota has long sought alongside him, according to Cholo Magsino of Yahoo Sports.

Edwards should benefit from reduced creation responsibilities after frequently serving as the team's primary offensive initiator in recent seasons. The addition of Ball could improve Edwards' efficiency while allowing him to focus more heavily on scoring and defense. Edwards still projects as Minnesota's franchise centerpiece entering 2026-27.

  • Timberwolves' Josh Green: Traded to Minnesota

The Hornets traded LaMelo Ball and Green to Minnesota on Thursday in exchange for Naz Reid, a 2033 unprotected first-round pick, three first-round pick swaps (2028, 2029, 2030) and three second-round picks, Shams Charania of ESPN reports.

Green was likely just used as some additional salary filler in this deal as the Hornets trim their books. Green could carve out a role in Minnesota, but his fantasy appeal is really low. Across 58 regular-season appearances in Charlotte in 2025-26, he averaged 4.3 points and 1.8 rebounds in 15.7 minutes per contest.

  • Timberwolves' LaMelo Ball: Traded to Minnesota

The Hornets traded Ball and Josh Green to Minnesota on Thursday in exchange for Naz Reid, a 2033 unprotected first-round pick, three first-round pick swaps (2028, 2029, 2030) and three second-round picks, Shams Charania of ESPN reports.

Ball's name has been in the rumor mill for quite some time, but this was certainly unexpected. Minnesota now teams Anthony Edwards up with an elite playmaker, putting the No. 1 and No. 3 picks from the 2020 NBA Draft together. Charania notes that the Hornets didn't actively shop Ball, but they received multiple offers, and this is the route they went. As far as landing spots go, Ball could have a field day setting up the likes of Edwards, Jaden McDaniels and Rudy Gobert.

  • Timberwolves' Trey Kaufman-Renn: Selected by Minnesota

Kaufman-Renn was selected by the Timberwolves with the No. 59 overall pick in the 2026 NBA Draft.

Kaufman-Renn logged 147 regular-season games for Purdue, averaging 11.3 points, 5.2 rebounds, 1.6 assists, 0.3 blocks and 0.4 steals across 21.8 minutes per contest. He's a capable scorer on the inside and is a sound passer, though his three-point shooting needs some work. All things considered, Kaufman-Renn will need time to develop, so it's unknown how long it could take before he earns consistent minutes for the Timberwolves moving ahead.

  • Timberwolves' Isaiah Evans: Nets trade rights to Timberwolves

The Nets selected Evans with the No. 33 overall pick in the 2026 NBA Draft and traded his rights to the Timberwolves, Michael Scotto of USA Today reports.

In the deal that sent Julius Randle to Brooklyn and Nic Claxton to Chicago, Minnesota picked up the No. 33 overall pick and used it on Evans, who somewhat surprisingly fell to the Round 2. The 20-year-old logged 74 regular-season appearances for Duke, averaging 11.0 points, 2.2 rebounds, 0.9 assists, 0.4 blocks and 0.5 steals over 21.2 minutes per contest. Although he's not the most athletic player in the draft, he's certainly one of the most accurate, as evidenced by his career 38.0 percent shooting from downtown. Evans will compete for backup minutes behind LaMelo Ball, following a blockbuster trade that sent Naz Reid and numerous picks to Charlotte.

  • Timberwolves' Ayo Dosunmu: Plans to re-sign with Minnesota

Dosunmu agreed to a five-year, $112 million contract with the Timberwolves on Monday, Shams Charania of ESPN reports.

After being traded from Chicago to Minnesota ahead of last season's deadline, Dosunmu averaged 14.4 points, 4.2 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 1.0 steals in 28.8 minutes per contest across 24 regular-season outings with the Timberwolves. During that span, he shot 52.1 percent from the field and 41.4 percent from three. The 26-year-old guard stepped up for the team in the postseason and should command a sizable role next season, as Donte DiVincenzo (Achilles) could miss the entire 2026-27 campaign. Dosunmu's new deal includes a player option for the final year.
