Martin enters 2026-27 as part of a crowded Dallas forward rotation, which could make consistent playing time difficult to secure.
The Mavericks currently have P.J. Washington, Santi Aldama, rookie Morez Johnson and Martin competing for opportunities at power forward. At the same time, several other wings can also slide between positions. Martin's experience and two-way versatility do give him some hope, but the competition for minutes limits his fantasy ceiling entering the season.

Mavericks' Naji Marshall: Signs extension with Dallas
Marshall (hip) signed a three-year, $52.2 million extension with the Mavericks on Sunday, Shams Charania of ESPN reports.
Marshall signed a three-year pact with Dallas in July 2024 and is now set to remain with the team for the foreseeable future. The 28-year-old wing is coming off a career-best year in 2025-26, during which he averaged 15.2 points, 4.7 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 1.1 steals while shooting 51.0 percent from the floor in 29.5 minutes per game across 74 regular-season appearances (47 starts).

Mavericks' Kyrie Irving: Almost fully recovered
Irving (knee) should be fully healthy by the end of the offseason, per Christian Clark of The New York Times.
Irving is close to a full recovery from ACL surgery, so he should be a full participant by the time training camp comes around in the fall. The star guard hasn't yet gotten the chance to take the floor since the Mavericks drafted Cooper Flagg last year, so it'll be interesting to see how the two mesh once they're sharing the backcourt duties.

Mavericks' Jett Howard: Signs two-way deal Monday
The Mavericks signed Howard to a two-way contract Monday.
Howard spent the first three years of his career with the Magic. Even though he averaged career-high marks in minutes (12.6) and points (5.5) per game in 55 regular-season contests in 2025-26, Howard was unable to do enough to stay in Orlando. Howard should compete for playing time at the NBA level, but if he doesn't stick around in Dallas, he should be a regular in the G League thanks to his two-way deal.

Mavericks' Zaccharie Risacher: Dealt to Dallas
Risacher was traded to the Mavericks on Sunday as part of a three-team deal that sent Luguentz Dort and Ryan Nembhard (illness) to the Hawks and three second-round picks to the Thunder, Shams Charania of ESPN reports.
After being selected No. 1 overall in the 2024 NBA Draft, Risacher's tenure in Atlanta comes to an end as he'll head to Dallas. In 67 regular-season games (46 starts) with the Hawks during the 2025-26 campaign, the wing averaged 9.6 points, 3.8 rebounds and 1.1 assists in 22.4 minutes per contest. Risacher still has much to prove heading into his third NBA season and will likely slot into a reserve role with the Mavericks, competing with the likes of Klay Thompson, Naji Marshall and Santi Aldama for playing time.

Mavericks' Moussa Cisse: Sticking around in Dallas
Cisse will return to the Mavericks after Dallas matched the two-year, $4.7 million offer sheet he received from the Knicks on Saturday, Shams Charania of ESPN reports.
Dallas wasted little time matching the Knicks' offer to keep Cisse in the fold, though the 6-foot-11 center will now occupy a standard roster spot after serving as a two-way player as a undrafted rookie in 2025-26. He appeared in 38 games at the NBA level last season, shooting 57.4 percent from the field while averaging 4.5 points, 5.7 rebounds and 1.2 blocks in 13.9 minutes per game. Cisse may have a tough time cracking the rotation with regularity in 2026-27 if Dereck Lively (foot) and Daniel Gafford are fully healthy. The Mavericks also acquired Santi Aldama and Morez Johnson earlier in the offseason and could also look to incorporate them at center.

Mavericks' Moussa Cisse: Reaches offer sheet with Knicks
Cisse agreed to a two-year, $4.7 million offer sheet with the Knicks on Saturday, Jake Fischer of BleacherReport.com reports.
After receiving a two-way qualifying offer from the Mavericks earlier in the offseason, Cisse entered restricted free agency and appears to have found a match with the Knicks. In 38 appearances at the NBA level in 2025-26, the big man averaged 4.5 points, 5.7 rebounds and 1.2 blocks in 13.9 minutes per contest. Dallas has until 11:59 p.m. ET on Monday to match the offer, or Cisse will officially head to New York, who could be viewing the second-year center as a candidate to push Andre Drummond for the top backup role behind Karl-Anthony Towns.

Mavericks' Darin Green: Nails six triples in SL win
Green recorded 21 points (6-13 FG, 6-12 3Pt, 1-1 FT), four assists and two rebounds over 24 minutes during Friday's 110-88 Summer League win over the Knicks.
Green did most of his damage from three-point range, with all six of his made field goals coming from beyond the arc, which was enough for him to co-lead the Mavericks in scoring with fellow reserve Tyler Smith. Green has gone 17-for-31 (54.8 percent) from deep across four Summer League games, which may be enough for him to earn an invite to Dallas' training camp in September.

Smith recorded 21 points (5-12 FG, 3-7 3Pt, 5-7 FT), four rebounds, one assist and one block over 22 minutes during Friday's 110-88 Las Vegas Summer League win over the Knicks.
Smith saw some increased minutes Friday and made the most of the opportunity, posting a plus-20 differential in the easy win. He's on a two-way deal with Dallas, so he'll likely spend most of the 2026-27 season with the Mavericks' G League affiliate.
