With two outs, runners on second and third and on an 0-2 count, Rocchio took a 100 mph sinker from Grant Taylor deep to left field, which fell just out of the reach of Sam Antonacci to bring home both David Fry and Daniel Schneemann to secure the win for the Guardians. It was a clutch moment for Rocchio and a key win for the Guardians, who are now just 0.5 games back of the White Sox for the top spot in the AL Central division. Rocchio has four games of at least two RBI over his last 11 outings and has a .686 OPS with 19 steals, 13 home runs and 67 RBI over 561 plate appearances this season.

Rocchio went 3-for-7 with a walk, a double, two home runs, five RBI, three runs scored and two stolen bases across both games of Friday's doubleheader sweep of the Tigers.
The shortstop powered a 7-6 win in the matinee with both his long balls and all five of his RBI -- a fourth-inning grand slam off Keider Montero, and a walk-off solo shot off Drew Sommers in the ninth -- and Rocchio then played a key role in a 4-3 victory in the nightcap. After leading off the 10th inning with a fielder's choice that erased the phantom runner, he swiped second and third against Detroit closer Kenley Jansen, putting him in position to trot home on Travis Bazzana's single. Rocchio is up to 12 homers and 18 steals, both career highs, through 135 games on the season, but highlights at the plate have been rare of late. Over 27 contests since the beginning of August, he's managed just a .188/.248/.313 slash line.

After a promising first half of the season, Rocchio has hit the skids in the second half; he entered Friday with a .173/.221/.235 slash line over the previous 25 games. Per Tim Stebbins of MLB.com, Guardians manager Stephen Vogt took ownership of Rocchio's struggles, attributing them to a decision to move the shortstop around the batting order while the team dealt with injuries. Rocchio went 0-for-4 in Friday's 8-2 win over the White Sox.
Rocchio has been a near-league-average performer for the season with a .254/.320/.375 slash line and a 98 wRC+ over 444 plate appearances, but he's fallen into an extended skid at the plate lately. Over his last 12 games, he's gone just 4-for-43 (.093), which has resulted in a 20-point drop in his batting average. Though he's remained a mainstay in the lineup at shortstop amid his slump, Rocchio could be in danger of losing out on a couple of starts per week after the Guardians recently called up one of their top prospects in Angel Genao from Triple-A Columbus. Genao will likely be in line for steady playing time while he's up with Cleveland, though his ability to play second base and third base in addition to shortstop could allow Rocchio to be included in the starting nine more often than not.
