  • White Sox's Kyle Teel: Scheduled for batting practice

Teel (ankle) will participate in batting practice Monday, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports.

Teel continues to make progress in his recovery from a left high-ankle sprain that he sustained shortly after the All-Star break. The next step in his program is to embark on a rehab assignment, at which point the White Sox will have a better idea of when Teel could return to the majors, which could be as soon as early September.

  • White Sox's Kyle Teel: Could start rehab by end of August

White Sox manager Will Venable said Thursday that Teel's (ankle) current progress should have him ready to begin a rehab assignment before the end of August, Bruce Levine of 670TheScore.com reports.

Teel is a little more than three weeks into a projected 6-to-12 week timetable as he works his way back from a left high-ankle sprain. He's currently running at about 80 percent and is expected to be cleared to hit off the Trejekt machine soon. The six-week mark in Teel's recovery would be Sept. 1, and it seems he has a good shot to be back around that time. However, the young catcher still has several boxes to check before a possible return date comes into focus.

  • White Sox's Kyle Teel: Set to miss extended time

Teel is expected to miss 6-to-12 weeks due to left high-ankle sprain, MLB.com reports.

When Teel was placed on the injured list, his timeline to return was unclear. The White Sox have since announced that Teel will be sidelined at least six weeks, or until the beginning of September. He's had a frustrating 2026 season, as he was unable to make his debut until June 22 due to a hamstring injury he suffered during the World Baseball Classic.

  • White Sox's Kyle Teel: Out with ankle sprain

The White Sox placed Teel on the 10-day injured list Tuesday due to a left ankle sprain.

The 24-year-old departed Monday's game against the Rangers due to the injury and was sporting crutches after the contest, so it's hardly a surprise that he's ended up on the IL. It's unclear how long Teel is expected to be sidelined, but he'll be eligible to be reinstated July 31. Edgar Quero was called up from Triple-A Charlotte and should split catching duties with Drew Romo while Teel is out.

  • White Sox's Kyle Teel: Spotted on crutches

Teel (ankle) was on crutches after exiting Monday's game against Texas, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports.

This isn't a great sign for Teel, who needed assistance from the training staff to get off the field after suffering an ankle injury Monday. The White Sox have yet to provide any additional information on the severity of Teel's injury, but more news should surface closer to Tuesday's matchup.

  • White Sox's Kyle Teel: Battling ankle injury

Teel left Monday's game against Texas due to a left ankle injury.

It's unclear at this time whether Teel will require a stint on the injured list, though the team stated that he'll be sent for further evaluation. Drew Romo would be the favorite to start at catcher Tuesday if Teel can't go.

  • White Sox's Kyle Teel: Exits early Monday

Teel was removed from Monday's game against the Rangers after suffering an apparent left leg injury, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports.

Teel needed help getting off the field after attempting to make a tag at the plate in the bottom of the second inning, and he was spotted heading straight to the clubhouse, presumably for further evaluation. Drew Romo entered the game in Teel's place and could be in line for more opportunities behind the dish if Teel requires a trip to the injured list.

  • White Sox's Kyle Teel: Pops second homer

Teel went 1-for-5 with a two-run home run Sunday against the Guardians.

Teel took Tanner Bibee deep in the first inning to record his second home run of the season. He hasn't had a particularly impressive start to his 2026 season after sitting for most of the first half, though he has at least one hit, two of which have gone for extra bases, in six of his last seven starts. Teel has also managed to tally 10 RBI in 11 contests.

  • White Sox's Kyle Teel: Sitting against left-hander

Teel is not in the White Sox's starting lineup against the Guardians on Saturday.

With southpaw Parker Messick on the mound for the Guardians, the lefty-hitting Teel will be on the bench while Drew Romo starts behind home plate and bats ninth. Since being activated off the 60-day injured list June 22, Teel has gone 7-for-34 (.206) with one home run, eight RBI and a 38.5 percent strikeout rate.

  • White Sox's Kyle Teel: Sitting out day game

Teel is absent from the lineup for Wednesday's contest in Baltimore.

  • White Sox's Kyle Teel: Knocks in two

Teel went 1-for-4 with two RBI on Sunday against the Royals.

Teel delivered a two-RBI single in the second inning to account for his production on the day. He now has at least one hit in three of his four starts since making his season debut, and he also has two multi-RBI showings. Teel has been in the lineup for four of a possible six games, so he doesn't look to have extensive workload restrictions.

Teel hit his first homer of the season in the fifth inning before adding an RBI single in the seventh. In three games since returning from the injured list June 22, the 24-year-old has gone 3-for-12 with one home run, three RBI, three runs scored and a 2:4 BB:K while catching and hitting in the heart of the order in each of his three starts.

  • White Sox's Kyle Teel: Activated ahead of season debut

The White Sox activated Teel (knee/hamstring) from the 60-day injured list Monday.

Teel is finally ready to make his season debut after missing nearly three months, first due to a right hamstring strain and then a right knee LCL sprain. The young catcher was very productive on his rehab assignment with Triple-A Charlotte, slashing .387/.441/.613 with two home runs and a 3:7 BB:K in eight contests. Teel will serve as Chicago's primary catcher, and he is starting behind the plate and batting cleanup Monday against the Guardians in his season debut.
