  • Diamondbacks' Tommy Troy: Doubles up in MLB debut

Troy started in left field and went 2-for-4 with two doubles and two runs scored in Sunday's 9-1 win over Colorado.

Troy, who made his MLB debut Sunday, doubled and scored in the second and sixth innings. He was called up from Triple-A Reno when the Diamondbacks placed left fielder Lourdes Gurriel (hamstring) on the 10-day injured list. Troy joins a group of potential fill-ins that includes Jorge Barrosa and Tim Tawa, but manager Torey Lovullo indicated that Troy will get plenty of opportunities while Gurriel is out, per Nick Piecoro of the Arizona Republic.

  • Diamondbacks' Tommy Troy: Expected to get 'runway' in left

Manager Torey Lovullo intimated Saturday that Troy will get some runway in left field while Lourdes Gurriel (hamstring) is out, Nick Piecoro of The Arizona Republic reports.

A top prospect in the organization, Troy received his first MLB call-up Saturday after slashing .307/.397/.449 with three homers and six steals in 205 plate appearances at Triple-A Reno to begin the campaign. He will not start Saturday night given how late in the day the team finalized the decision to place Gurriel on the injured list, but it sounds like Troy will see regular at-bats for Arizona in the weeks ahead. The 24-year-old Troy has played second base and center field in addition to left in his time with Reno this season.

  • Diamondbacks' Tommy Troy: Contract selected

The Diamondbacks selected Troy's contract from Triple-A Reno on Saturday.

With Lourdes Gurriel (hamstring) landing on the injured list Saturday, the Diamondbacks will call upon Troy to add depth to their position-player group. The 24-year-old has slashed .307/.397/.449 with three homers, 28 RBI, 39 runs and six steals through 205 plate appearances at Reno, and he's capable of playing in the outfield and middle infield. He'll be making his MLB debut whenever he gets into a game.

  • Diamondbacks' Tommy Troy: Strong spring continues

Troy started at second base and went 3-for-4 in Wednesday's spring game against the Athletics.

Troy rapped three singles, including a pair to the opposite field, and upped his spring line to 11-for-21 (.425) along with four doubles, two RBI, three runs and one stolen base over nine Cactus League appearances. He can play both infield and outfield, but Arizona manager Torey Lovullo told Alex Weiner of Arizona Sports that the plan is keep Troy locked at second base for now.

  • Diamondbacks' Tommy Troy: Strong start at Double-A

Troy is hitting .400 with more walks (12) than strikeouts (nine), a home run and a stolen base through 50 plate appearances for Double-A Amarillo.

Troy was destined to put up a strong stat line while playing half his games in the very hitter-friendly park in Amarillo, but his control of the zone stands out through his first 10 games at Double-A. He had an injury-riddled first half last year but finished strong with an .822 OPS, four homers and nine steals in his final 33 games at High-A before logging an .864 OPS in the Arizona Fall League.

  • Diamondbacks' Tommy Troy: Heating up for Hops

Troy is slashing .280/.333/.480 with two home runs, four doubles and two steals in 13 games in August for High-A Hillsboro.

Prior to August, Troy was hitting .199 with one home run in 39 games (including rehab games) while dealing with a serious hamstring injury. This latest stretch is at least a sign that the talent that got him drafted with the No. 12 overall pick in last year's draft is still there.

  • Diamondbacks' Tommy Troy: Returning to High-A lineup

High-A Hillsboro reinstated Troy (hamstring) from the 7-day injured list Monday.

Troy will rejoin the High-A club after he went 7-for-23 with a triple, three doubles, five RBI and three runs over his seven rehab games in the rookie-level Arizona Complex League. The 22-year-old shortstop had been on the shelf since April 26 with a left hamstring strain.
