Ohtani initially hurt his knee last week and missed one game. He's started at designated hitter for the past four contests and is starting on the mound Wednesday but will not be used on offense. The knee issue does not appear to be a long-term concern for Ohtani, but he could receive extra days off for a bit.

Imaging on Ohtani's left knee revealed Friday that he isn't dealing with any structural damage, Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports.
Ohtani will be held out of Friday's contest against the White Sox, but manager Dave Roberts said before the game that the two-way star isn't dealing with anything more than inflammation in his left knee. He's expected to resume duties as the Dodgers' designated hitter sometime this weekend and remains on track to make his next start on the mound Wednesday.

Ohtani was replaced by Santiago Espinal at the plate in the top of the seventh inning, and the team quickly announced that Ohtani was dealing with a knee issue. The 31-year-old underwent surgery on the left knee in 2019, and it's unclear if Thursday's issue has anything to do with the previous injury. He finished the night having gone 2-for-2 with a home run, two runs scored and two walks. More information on his status will likely be provided in the near future.

Ohtani has gone 17-for-38 (.447) with three homers and six RBI over his last nine contests. He's hitting .300 with a .941 OPS, 11 homers, 35 RBI, 43 runs scored, six stolen bases, 14 doubles and two triples through 63 games. He's currently battling a small blister on his right middle finger, but the issue isn't expected to cost him a start on the mound, and it's clearly not slowing him down at the plate.
