  • Dodgers' Blake Snell: Inefficient in season debut

Snell (0-1) allowed five runs (four earned) on six hits and two walks while striking out five over three innings to take the loss versus Atlanta on Saturday.

Snell was shelved to start the season due to left shoulder soreness. He was working with at least a slight workload restriction after coming back earlier than expected, though the southpaw simply wasn't efficient enough, needing 77 pitches (50 strikes) to get through his three frames. Snell may still need another start or two before he's up to a full workload, though the Dodgers' six-man rotation should work to his advantage in building up safely. He's tentatively lined up to make his next start on the road versus the Angels.

  • Dodgers' Blake Snell: Activated ahead of start

The Dodgers reinstated Snell (shoulder) from the injured list Saturday.

Snell will be making his season debut Saturday after landing on the injured list at the start of the season with a sore left shoulder. He had been originally scheduled for an additional rehab start Saturday after building up to 55 pitches during his last outing Sunday, so the Dodgers will likely limit his pitch count while he faces a tough Atlanta lineup. Brock Stewart (foot) was placed on the 15-day IL in a corresponding move.

  • Dodgers' Blake Snell: Slated for season debut Saturday

Snell (shoulder) will be activated from the 15-day injured list Saturday to make his season debut for the Dodgers against Atlanta, Jack Harris of the California Post reports.

Snell had been scheduled for one more rehab outing, but the Dodgers have elected to bring him back early. The left-hander threw only 55 pitches over four innings in his third and final rehab start, so he will be working with a limited pitch count Saturday. Snell is coming back from left shoulder fatigue, which had bothered him since last season. He allowed four runs (three earned) with a 10:2 K:BB over eight innings in three rehab outings.

  • Dodgers' Blake Snell: Throws 55 pitches in rehab start

Snell (shoulder) completed four innings in a rehab outing with Triple-A Oklahoma City on Sunday, allowing two earned runs on two hits and one walk while striking out four batters.

Snell threw 55 pitches (37 strikes), and his fastball topped out at 97.4 miles per hour. He served up a two-run home run in the first inning but didn't give up any hits thereafter. Snell is through three rehab appearances spanning eight total innings, during which he has given up four runs (three earned) while posting a 10:2 K:BB. Per Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register, Snell is expected to make one more rehab start and will aim for five innings and 75 pitches in that outing.

  • Dodgers' Blake Snell: Next rehab start set

Snell (shoulder) will draw another start with Single-A Ontario on Tuesday.

Snell will be on the mound for the second outing of his minor-league rehab assignment. The southpaw gave up two runs (one earned) on three hits and a walk while throwing 21 or his 32 total pitches for strikes in his first start with Ontario on Wednesday. Snell is expected to slowly work his way up to 75 pitches or five innings on the mound during his rehab assignment before he'd potentially be activated from the 15-day injured list at some point in May, and Tuesday's outing will be another step in that direction.

  • Dodgers' Blake Snell: Tosses 32 pitches in rehab start

Snell (shoulder) threw one-plus inning in a rehab outing with Single-A Ontario on Wednesday, allowing two runs (one earned) on three hits and one walk. He didn't strike out any batters.

Snell didn't log any game action during spring training and showed plenty of rust in his first rehab appearance, needing 32 pitches to retire three batters. He got through the first inning without a run on his ledger but allowed all four batters he faced to reach base before he was pulled in the second, though there were two errors committed behind him. Snell said Thursday that he came out of the appearance well, per Katie Woo of The Athletic, and the hurler is expected to make another rehab start sometime next week. The goal is for him to work up to five innings or 75 pitches before he's activated from the injured list.

  • Dodgers' Blake Snell: Cleared for rehab assignment

Snell (shoulder) will begin a rehab assignment with Single-A Ontario on Wednesday, Katie Woo of The Athletic reports.

Snell has finally been cleared to pitch in a game after completing a live batting practice session last week. The left-hander will likely need most, if not all, of the allotted 30 days on his rehab assignment, which would set him up for a season debut in mid-to-late May. Snell is coming back from left shoulder fatigue.

  • Dodgers' Blake Snell: Live BP session Wednesday

Snell (shoulder) tossed a live bullpen session Wednesday, David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports reports.

Snell ended up tossing 31 pitches over two simulated innings and faced Alex Call, Santiago Espinal and Tommy Edman (ankle), per Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic. Snell continues to rehab from left shoulder fatigue that caused him to open the regular season on the 15-day injured list. Wednesday was his second bullpen session of his recovery program, and he'll likely need several more before being cleared to embark on a minor-league rehab assignment. Snell is not expected to make his season debut until at least late May.
