  • Blue Jays' George Springer: In lineup Saturday after HBP

Springer (hand) is starting in right field and batting fifth for Saturday's game against the Yankees.

Springer left in the seventh inning of Friday's 16-5 loss to the Yankees after taking a fastball of his left hand in the bottom of the fifth. Springer is hitting .207 for the season, but over his last five games he's gone 8-for-19 with three home runs and 10 RBI. He'll face off against Yankees southpaw Nestor Cortes on Saturday.

  • Blue Jays' George Springer: Exits after HBP

Springer was removed from Friday's game against the Yankees due to a left hand contusion.

Springer took a 93-mph fastball off his hand/wrist during the fifth inning. He remained in the game to run the bases and play defense, but he was eventually pinch hit for by Davis Schneider in the seventh frame. Precautionary imaging on Springer's hand came back negative for a fracture, and his ability to remain in the game immediately following the incident is a good sign he'll be available for Saturday's contest.

  • Blue Jays' George Springer: Accumulates six RBI in victory

Springer went 3-for-3 with a pair of three-run home runs in Thursday's 9-2 win against the Yankees.

Springer punished Yankees starter Carlos Rodon for two three-run homers in the first two innings to set the Blue Jays up for a big victory. The six RBI were a single-game career high for the veteran outfielder, who came into the contest with two home runs and six RBI over his previous 25 games combined. Springer batted an awful .137 through his first 21 contests of June but has gone 6-for-8 with three long balls and eight runs batted in over his past two games.

  • Blue Jays' George Springer: Mashes sixth homer

Springer went 3-for-5 with a two-run home run in Tuesday's 9-4 win over the Red Sox.

The 34-year-old outfielder capped a seven-run eruption for the Blue Jays in the third inning when he drove a Brayan Bello slider into the right-center field bullpen at Fenway Park. Springer is having the worst season of his career by a wide margin -- Tuesday's long ball snapped a 17-game homer drought, and it highlighted his first multi-hit performance since June 3. Through 300 plate appearances in 2024, Springer has managed a .196/.283/.298 slash line with six homers, eight steals, 17 RBI and 32 runs.

  • Blue Jays' George Springer: Taking seat Tuesday

Springer is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Red Sox.

Springer has a .578 OPS through 273 plate appearances this season and will sit after going 4-for-26 while starting the previous eight contests. Addison Barger will take over in right field and bat sixth Tuesday.

  • Blue Jays' George Springer: Crosses plate twice in win

Springer went 1-for-3 with a walk, two runs scored and an RBI in Saturday's 5-0 win over the Guardians.

It's the first time since May 29 that Springer has scored multiple runs. Consistent success at the plate continues to elude the veteran outfielder -- he's batting just .156 (7-for-45) in June with one homer, one steal, three RBI and six runs over 13 games.

  • Blue Jays' George Springer: Swipes eighth bag

Springer went 1-for-4 with a run scored and a stolen base in Sunday's extra-inning win over the A's.

The veteran outfielder stole his eighth bag of the year but his first since May 15, snapping a 19-game drought on the basepaths. Springer is showing signs of life at the plate as well -- over his last 12 games, he's slashing .268/.400/.439 with two homers, four RBI and 11 runs. He's been consistently hitting lower in the order during that stretch, anywhere from fifth to seventh, and with rookie Spencer Horwitz currently getting a look as a table-setter, Springer likely won't return to a more prominent spot in the lineup any time soon.

  • Blue Jays' George Springer: Getting rest Saturday

Springer is not in the starting lineup for Saturday's game against the Athletics.

Springer went 0-for-4 in the series opener Friday, and he has failed to register a hit over his last three games. The 34-year-old is slashing .202/.292/.305 with five home runs and 13 RBI over 243 plate appearances this season. With Springer out of Saturday's lineup, Daulton Varsho and Davis Schneider will occupy right and left field, respectively, while Spencer Horwitz makes his 2024 debut at second base against Oakland right-hander Luis Medina.

  • Blue Jays' George Springer: Belts fifth homer

Springer went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Tuesday's loss to the Orioles.

He supplied the Blue Jays' only offense in a 10-1 rout by taking Corbin Burnes deep in the seventh inning. Springer appears to be turning things around after his rough start to the season -- he's hit safely in seven of the last eight games, batting .385 (10-for-26) with two of his five homers on the year and an impressive 7:1 BB:K.

Springer went 2-for-2 with two runs scored and three walks during Tuesday's 7-2 win over the White Sox.

Springer reached base safely in all five plate appearances and came around to score multiple times for a second straight game. After enduring a 1-for-17 stretch at the plate, Springer has generated a pair of hits in back-to-back games. Overall, Springer is slashing .204/.291/.304 with four homers, seven stolen bases and 21 runs scored over 206 plate appearances.

  • Blue Jays' George Springer: Ends power drought Monday

Springer went 2-for-3 with a walk, a two-run home run and a second run scored in Monday's win over the White Sox.

The veteran outfielder opened the scoring in the second inning when he lifted a first-pitch fastball from Nick Nastrini over the fence in left field. Springer snapped a 22-game homer drought with the blast, a stretch in which he slashed a woeful .136/.191/.173. He hasn't failed to hit 20 home runs in a full season since 2015, but the 34-year-old has his work cut out for him this summer to reach that mark again -- Springer has only four long balls through Toronto's first 53 games.

  • Blue Jays' George Springer: Down in seven spot Monday

Springer will start in right field and bat seventh in Monday's game versus the White Sox.

It's the lowest spot in the batting order Springer has ever occupied during his 11-year major-league career. Springer is slashing just .145/.203/.177 so far in May and is 1-for-17 at the dish over his last five contests.

  • Blue Jays' George Springer: Not in Sunday's lineup

Springer is out of the lineup for Sunday's game at Detroit.

Springer started the first three games of the series but will sit for Sunday's finale after going 1-for-11 with an RBI and two strikeouts. The 34-year-old's numbers for the campaign aren't much better as he has a .537 OPS through 46 games. Cavan Biggio will take over in right field and bat ninth.

  • Blue Jays' George Springer: Retreating to bench Wednesday

Springer is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the White Sox.

After sitting out three times in four-game stretch from May 10 through 13 while he recovered from an illness, Springer started in each of Toronto's last six games while going 3-for-20 with four walks and two doubles. Despite his lackluster production over the past week, Springer isn't believed to be dealing with any physical issues, so his absence from the lineup Wednesday is most likely a maintenance day.

  • Blue Jays' George Springer: On base three times Sunday

Springer went 1-for-2 with two walks, a double, two runs scored and an RBI in Sunday's win over the Rays.

Dropped to sixth in the batting order over the weekend, Springer responded to the move by getting on base three times, leading to his first multi-run performance since April 14. The veteran outfielder hasn't had a multi-hit game since April 24 though, slashing .156/.214/.203 in 17 contests since then without a homer. Until his bat wakes up, Springer will likely remain in the bottom half of the order.

  • Blue Jays' George Springer: Nabs seventh steal

Springer went 1-for-4 with a walk, a double, a run scored and a stolen base in Wednesday's loss to the Orioles.

Back in the leadoff spot, Springer reached base multiple times for the first time in 12 games, something he last accomplished April 26. It's been a tough season so far for the veteran outfielder, and through 166 plate appearances Springer is slashing a sluggish .201/.277/.295 with three homers, seven steals, six RBI and 14 runs.
