Suns' Duop Reath: Inks pact with Phoenix
Reath (foot) agreed to a one-year veteran minimum contract with the Suns on Wednesday, John Gambadoro of Arizona Sports 98.7 FM reports.
With Mark Williams (shoulder) expected to miss around five months, Reath figures to compete for playing time with Khaman Maluach and Oso Ighodaro. Reath's 2025-26 campaign was cut short after he underwent right foot surgery in late January, and it's unclear if he'll be at full strength for training camp. Across 32 regular-season appearances for the Trail Blazers in 2025-26, he averaged 2.9 points and 1.2 rebounds across 8.1 minutes per contest.

Suns' Khaman Maluach: Expanded role on horizon
The door is open for Maluach to start at center for the Suns in the wake of Mark Williams' offseason shoulder surgery, Bobby Marks of ESPN.com reports.
The 2025 first-rounder is coming off a promising Summer League run, averaging 19.5 points, 12.8 rebounds, 2.0 blocks and 1.2 steals per game while shooting 53.2 percent from the floor over four appearances. Williams is expected to miss around five months, so the runway with Phoenix's top spot at center could be a long one. Maluach does have Oso Ighodaro to overcome for the role, so fantasy managers should keep close tabs on what projects to be a fierce camp competition.

Suns' Oso Ighodaro: Primed for larger role
Ighodaro has a chance to begin the season as Phoenix's starting center after Mark Williams underwent shoulder surgery Thursday.
The expectation is that Williams will be on the shelf for about five months, likely ruling out the big man until sometime around the All-Star break. Ighodaro filled in serviceably when Williams was injured in 2025-26, as the former averaged a productive 8.4 points, 6.0 rebounds, 3.2 assists, 0.9 steals and 0.9 blocks in 27.4 minutes per game while shooting 67.4 percent from the field over 22 regular-season appearances with Williams unavailable. However, Ighodaro did shoot a paltry 40.8 percent from the free-throw line in those outings. Benjamin Garcia of the Locked On Podcast Network is hearing internal praise directed toward Khaman Maluach, who just averaged 19.5 points, 12.8 rebounds, 2.0 blocks and 1.2 steals per game across four appearances in a dominant Summer League run, so the Suns appear to have an intense camp battle brewing for the top center spot in Williams' stead.

Suns' Mark Williams: Undergoes shoulder surgery
Williams underwent surgery Thursday to repair a torn labrum in his left shoulder and will miss an extended period, Shams Charania of ESPN reports.
This is a tough blow for the center with training camp right around the corner. With Williams on the inactive list, Oso Ighodaro and Khaman Maluach figure to see increased playing time, with the latter already drawing buzz during Summer League play. More clarity on Williams' timeline should be known in the coming weeks, and while nothing official has come from the Suns, Phoenix radio host John Gambadoro reports that the center could potentially miss around five months.

Brooks did not participate in Canada's latest FIBA World Cup qualifying window as he gears up for the 2026-27 NBA season.
Brooks is coming off the best offensive season of his career, averaging 20.2 points, 3.6 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.0 steals across 56 regular-season starts for Phoenix. The 30-year-old also signed a three-year, $73 million extension with the Suns in August that keeps him under contract through 2029-30. Brooks should remain an important part of Phoenix's starting lineup alongside Devin Booker. Suns' Oso Ighodaro: Expanding his game
Ighodaro has spent the offseason working to expand his offensive game, with the third-year big man specifically focusing on his free-throw shooting and three-point range, Duane Rankin of The Arizona Republic reports.
Ighodaro attempted just three three-pointers over his first two NBA seasons and shot 45.3 percent from the charity stripe in 2025-26 over 82 regular-season games, so any progress as a shooter could add another dimension to his offensive profile. The 24-year-old also said he plans to be more aggressive while continuing to serve as a "connector" and on-court quarterback on both ends of the floor. Ighodaro averaged 6.5 points and 5.1 rebounds while shooting 65.3 percent from the field and appearing in all 82 regular-season games last campaign.

Despite appearing in only 56 regular-season games in 2025-26, Brooks had a fantastic campaign, averaging a career-high 20.2 points along with 3.6 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.0 steals across 30.4 minutes per contest. He's not the most efficient shooter. However, the 30-year-old is capable of producing on both ends of the floor while also providing leadership and toughness. Brooks should continue to be a vital piece of the Suns' long-term plans, so he could see more minutes than ever in 2026-27. He has an excellent opportunity to match or surpass his production from last season, especially if Devin Booker, Jalen Green and Mark Williams can't stay off the injury report.

Suns' Ryan Dunn: Lined up for bench role this year
Dunn could be restricted to a reserve role next year after Phoenix acquired Miles Bridges from Charlotte this summer.
The Suns may have lost Grayson Allen and Royce O'Neale this offseason, but they signed sharpshooter Luke Kennard in addition to receiving Bridges in a trade with the Hornets. Dunn opened 2025-26 as a starter before being phased out of Phoenix's rotation entirely during the playoffs, ultimately averaging a pedestrian 5.8 points, 4.2 rebounds and 1.5 assists in 19.4 minutes per game over 70 appearances (16 starts) during the regular season. The Suns have constructed a talented roster around their franchise centerpiece, now featuring Bridges as opposed to lower-usage options such as Grayson Allen and Royce O'Neale. Although Bridges could theoretically cut into Booker's ballhandling opportunities to an extent, the latter could experience a jump in efficiency after shooting 45.6 percent from the field last regular season, his lowest mark since 2017-18.
