A fielding error by Jax himself with two outs in the opening inning kept two earned runs off his ledger, much to the delight of fantasy managers. Sunday thus went down as the right-hander's third consecutive start with just one earned run allowed, and Jax has certainly found his way as part of the starting rotation after beginning his first year with the Rays as a reliever. Over 82.2 innings as a starter, he's posted a 3.16 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 90:23 K:BB as opposed to an 8.00 ERA and 1.89 WHIP across nine frames out of the bullpen. Jax is next slated to take the ball in Seattle at pitcher-friendly T-Mobile Park.

Jax (6-8) took the loss in Tuesday's matchup against the Rangers, allowing two runs (one earned) on five hits and three walks while striking out in 10 in 5.2 innings.
Jax tied his season high in strikeouts with 10 while taking the loss Tuesday despite allowing just one earned run. On the season, the 31-year-old now owns a 3.74 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and 92:30 K:BB through 86.2 innings. The right-hander is slated to make his next start against the White Sox on Sunday.

Jax (6-7) got the win Wednesday against the Blue Jays, allowing one run on three hits and a walk while striking out five across six innings.
Jax needed only 83 pitches (57 strikes) to make it through six frames for his second quality start of the campaign. The right-hander appeared headed for a no-decision, but the Rays took the lead with a three-run sixth inning to secure Jax's fifth win in his last seven starts. During that stretch, the 31-year-old has given up 17 runs and struck out 39 over 37 innings, bringing his ERA to 3.89 and WHIP to 1.22 through 27 outings (16 starts) this season. A matchup with the Rangers is tentatively on deck for next week.

Jax (5-7) took the loss in the first game of Friday's doubleheader against the Red Sox, coughing up seven runs on eight hits and one walk over five-plus innings. He struck out six.
The right-hander didn't get any help from his offense in a 10-0 rout, but Jax's efforts to keep the game close unraveled in the sixth inning when he led off the frame by hitting Caleb Durbin with a pitch, and then watched the next three Boston batters reach base before he got the hook. Jax tossed 55 of 85 pitches for strikes in his worst outing of the season, and it's the first time since June 1 he's been tagged for more than three runs. He'll take a 4.08 ERA, 1.27 WHIP and 77:26 K:BB through 75 innings into his next start, which lines up to come on the road next week in Toronto.
Jax (5-6) earned the win against the Mariners on Saturday, allowing one run on four hits and three walks while striking out three across five innings.
Jax's three punchouts were his lowest in a game since May 13 against the Blue Jays (one). However, the right-hander limited the Mariners to just one run and needed only 69 pitches (41 strikes) to get through five innings en route to his fourth win in his last five starts. Jax enters the All-Star break with a 3.47 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and 71:25 K:BB across 70 innings (14 starts in 25 total appearances).

Jax (4-6) took the loss against the Yankees on Monday, allowing three runs on one hit and two walks while striking out 10 across five innings.
Monday's series opener featured a pitching duel between Jax and Cam Schlittler, with the former retiring the first 13 batters he faced. However, Jax walked two-straight batters in the fifth, both of whom came home to score on a back-breaking, three-run home run by Jose Caballero. Jax struck out the next two batters in the frame to tie a career high in punchouts and finished his night with 16 whiffs on just 81 pitches (51 strikes), but he did not receive enough run support from his Rays teammates to avoid the loss. He'll take a 3.60 ERA and 1.22 WHIP over 65 innings into his next start, which is lined up for this weekend at home against the Mariners.
Jax (4-5) earned the win Tuesday against the Royals, allowing three runs on five hits while striking out five over six innings.
Jax surrendered all three of his runs via the long ball, as Carter Jensen led off the game with a homer and Bobby Witt added a two-run shot in the third inning. However, Tampa Bay's offense erupted for 10 runs while he was on the mound, giving him plenty of run support. Since allowing six runs over four innings June 1, Jax has bounced back, posting a 1.73 ERA over his last five outings while riding a three-start winning streak. He now owns a 3.45 ERA, 1.27 WHIP and 58:20 K:BB across 60 innings and is scheduled to face Houston on the road next.

It was a strong outing for Jax, as he set a season high with seven strikeouts. The right-hander has been excellent of late, allowing just two earned runs across 20 innings in his last four starts while posting a 21:4 K:BB. Since moving into Tampa's rotation, Jax has posted a 2.27 ERA with a 1.19 WHIP and 41:13 K:BB across 11 starts (43.2 innings). He's tentatively lined up for a rematch with the Royals on the road his next time out.
