Yankees' Ryan Weathers: Surrenders four HRs, strikes out 10
Weathers (0-2) took the loss Tuesday against the Angels, allowing five runs on five hits and two walks with 10 strikeouts across five innings.
Weathers was hurt by the long ball Tuesday, as he surrendered back-to-back-to-back home runs to Mike Trout, Jo Adell and Jorge Soler in the top of the first inning, putting the Yankees in a quick 3-0 hole. Weathers later gave up another solo shot to Oswald Peraza in the third frame. The first three homers came on fastballs before Peraza deposited a changeup into the left-field seats. Aside from the home runs, Weathers clearly had the swing-and-miss stuff working once again, as he's racked up at least seven strikeouts in three of his first four starts to begin the season. Weathers had yet to allow a home run prior to Tuesday. He now owns a 4.29 ERA and 28:7 K:BB across 21 innings. He's pitched much better than that ERA would indicate and has shown he belongs in the Yankees' rotation. Weathers is scheduled to make his next start Sunday at home against the Royals.

Yankees' Ryan Weathers: Takes tough-luck loss Thursday
Weathers (0-1) took the loss Thursday against the Athletics, allowing one run on seven hits and no walks with seven strikeouts across eight innings.
Unfortunately for Weathers, the Yankees weren't able to score any runs against Athletics left-hander Jeffrey Springs, who allowed just one hit across seven shutout innings. Weathers had some of his best stuff on 101 pitches Thursday but took the tough-luck loss and remains winless through three starts with New York. Weathers has a 2.81 ERA and 18:5 K:BB across 16 innings and is slated to face the Angels at home Tuesday.

Yankees' Ryan Weathers: Struggles against former team
Weathers did not factor into the decision Saturday against Miami, allowing three runs on six hits and three walks with four strikeouts across 3.2 innings.
Weathers really struggled with his command, walking a batter in each of the first three innings as he dealt with significant traffic on the bases versus his former team. The left-hander was pulled in the fourth inning after needing 88 pitches to record just 11 outs. Weathers has yet to factor into a decision through two starts and will carry a 4.50 ERA and an 11:5 K:BB across eight innings into his next start at home against the Athletics.

Yankees' Ryan Weathers: Fans seven in Yankees debut
Weathers did not factor into the decision Monday against the Mariners, allowing one run on four hits and two walks while striking out seven over 4.1 innings.
Making his Yankees debut after being traded from Miami this offseason, Weathers was sharp for much of the outing, giving up his only run in the second inning on an RBI single from Cole Young before settling in and retiring seven straight batters, including four via strikeout during a dominant stretch. Weathers ran into trouble in the fifth with back-to-back singles that effectively ended his night as he threw 77 pitches (49 strikes) in the effort, flashing strong swing-and-miss ability throughout. Coming off a 2025 season in which the southpaw logged just 38.1 innings with a 3.99 ERA, this start was an encouraging step forward for the 26-year-old.

Yankees' Ryan Weathers: Ends spring on positive note
Weathers completed five innings in Tuesday's exhibition game against the Cubs, allowing one run on four hits and one walk while striking out four batters.
Weathers entered as a reliever in the third inning but got in a healthy workload of five frames spanning 80 pitches (57 strikes). He held Chicago to just one run on a Miguel Amaya solo homer. Weathers had a bumpy spring and finished the exhibition slate with an 8.83 ERA and 1.79 WHIP across 17.1 innings, but he did register an impressive 21:4 K:BB. The left-hander has been tabbed to be part of New York's season-opening rotation and is tentatively slated to make his first start Monday in Seattle.

Yankees' Ryan Weathers: Confirmed part of rotation
Manager Aaron Boone confirmed Thursday that Weathers will open the season in the Yankees' starting rotation, Gary Phillips of the New York Daily News reports.
With Gerrit Cole (elbow) and Carlos Rodon (elbow) both opening the season on the injured list, Weathers' inclusion in the rotation doesn't come as a surprise. However, he's been knocked around this spring, and it continued Thursday against the Blue Jays as he surrendered seven earned runs on eight hits and one walk across three innings. Weathers sports an ugly 11.68 ERA through four Grapefruit League starts, but Boone believes Weathers' stuff "is where it needs to be."

Yankees' Ryan Weathers: Knocked around in spring start
Weathers allowed six runs (five earned) on seven hits and two walks while striking out three batters over two innings in a Grapefruit League outing against the Mets on Sunday.
Weathers breezed through a scoreless first inning during which he retired the side in order. However, the southpaw got only one out in his second frame, allowing three runs before being pulled. Under spring training rules, Weathers re-entered the contest in the third inning and gave up three more runs (one was unearned) while retiring just two batters. Weathers was great in his previous Grapefruit League appearance, tossing 3.2 scoreless innings with five punchouts, and he's expected to open the regular season in the Yankees' starting rotation.
