Yankees manager Aaron Boone said Tuesday on the "Talkin' Yanks" podcast by Jomboy Media that Warren could be used in a piggyback role behind starter Max Fried on Saturday in San Diego.
Warren is coming off one of his best starts of the season, having tossed seven innings of one-run ball with seven strikeouts against the Red Sox. However, he is slated for a bullpen role in the postseason and the Yankees might be making that transition now. If Warren is shifted to the bullpen, Elmer Rodriguez would likely remain in the Yankees' rotation.
