The Blue Jays optioned Arrighetti to their spring training complex Monday.
Unless the Blue Jays deactivate another player due to an injury or personal circumstance during the final week of the regular season, Arrighetti's 2026 campaign has likely come to an end. After being acquired from the Astros at the trade deadline, the right-hander was ineffective over his seven appearances (two starts) for the Blue Jays, pitching to a 6.35 ERA, 1.54 WHIP and 19:14 K:BB in 22.2 innings. Arrighetti will have to battle for a spot in the Toronto rotation next spring.

Blue Jays' Spencer Arrighetti: Could pitch in bulk relief Sunday
Arrighetti could be a candidate to pitch in bulk relief behind starter Spencer Miles in Sunday's game against the Rangers, Arden Zwelling of Sportsnet.ca reports.
Considering that Miles hasn't tossed more than two innings or 44 pitches in an appearance since the beginning of August, he's unlikely to work more than once through the batting order. Arrighetti will be available on four days' rest and could be called upon to cover multiple frames. Since being acquired from the Astros on Aug. 3, Arrighetti has made six appearances (two starts) for Toronto and has submitted a 6.20 ERA, 1.52 WHIP and 17:12 K:BB across 20.1 innings.

Arrighetti (9-9) notched the win Sunday against Texas, striking out two while allowing two runs on two hits and two walks in 2.1 innings of relief.
Arrighetti was not nearly as effective as opener Spencer Miles, who fired three shutout innings, but Toronto provided enough run support to get Arrighetti credited with the win. The right-hander has now operated as a long reliever in five of his seven outings for the Blue Jays, but he's yet to cover at least five frames since coming over from Houston. He has a 6.35 ERA, 1.54 WHIP and 19:14 K:BB over 22.2 innings for his new team, and it remains to be seen how he'll next be deployed once Trey Yesavage (knee) is reinstated from the injured list.

Arrighetti (8-9) picked up the win in Saturday's 7-3 victory over the Orioles, allowing one unearned run on two hits and two walks over 2.2 innings of relief. He struck out two.
The right-hander was the third of seven Toronto pitchers to take the mound on a bullpen day, and Arrighetti got credited with the win in a game his team never trailed. It was his first victory in a Blue Jays uniform, and over five appearances (two starts) since being acquired at the trade deadline from the Astros, he's produced a 6.87 ERA, 1.53 WHIP and 15:10 K:BB in 18.1 innings. Arrighetti (7-6) took the loss Friday, giving up three runs on three hits and two walks over 3.1 innings of relief as the Blue Jays fell 3-1 to the Yankees. He struck out four.
Mason Fluharty couldn't get through the first inning as the opener, walking two batters in two-thirds of an inning, so Arrighetti was put in a tough spot right away as the bulk reliever in his Blue Jays debut. While the former Astro was able to escape that jam by striking out George Lombard, he ran into trouble of his own in the second after a leadoff walk. Arrighetti got lifted after 61 pitches (37 strikes), a small step up in workload from his final rehab start Sunday, but even after he gets fully stretched out he'll be tough to rely upon in fantasy as he pitches through a nerve issue in his right foot. He's set to make his next outing, either as a bulk reliever or traditional starter, at home next week against the Royals.

The right-hander built up to 50 pitches (35 strikes) and blanked Worcester for three frames before serving up a two-run homer to Mikey Romero in the fourth. Arrighetti doesn't seem quite ready to make his Blue Jays debut, however. Per Keegan Matheson of MLB.com, Arrighetti's fastball averaged just 90.5 mph, well down from the 92.4 mph he averaged this season in the majors with Houston, and he'll likely need to build up his workload a little further before being entrusted with even a bulk relief role. If he hits the organization's goals on those fronts in his next rehab start, however, he could be activated from the IL before the end of the month.
