Braves' Robert Suarez: MRI comes back clean
An MRI on Suarez's right elbow came back negative Friday, Mark Bowman of MLB.com reports.
Suarez landed on the injured list Friday due to inflammation in his elbow, but he doesn't seem to be dealing with a serious injury and is expected to return sometime shortly after the All-Star break. In the meantime, Dylan Lee and Tyler Kinley will be candidates for more setup work ahead of closer Raisel Iglesias.

Braves' Robert Suarez: Placed on injured list
Atlanta placed Suarez on the 15-day injured list Friday, retroactive to Tuesday, with right elbow inflammation.
Suarez hasn't pitched since last Friday due to what was originally described as forearm tightness, though further evaluation has since determined that the 35-year-old is dealing with an elbow issue. It remains unknown whether his injury is due to a structural issue, but more information about his return timeline could come out in the near future. Hurston Waldrep was recalled from Triple-A Gwinnett in a corresponding move.

Braves' Robert Suarez: Nursing tight forearm
Atlanta manager Walt Weiss said after Tuesday's 7-6 loss to the Padres in 10 innings that Suarez wasn't available due to forearm tightness, Chad Bishop of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
The injury explains why Atlanta didn't turn to Suarez and instead tried to get two innings out of closer Raisel Iglesias with the score tied late, a move that backfired in the 10th. Suarez last pitched Friday, tossing 1.1 scoreless innings and 28 pitches in a win over the Brewers. Weiss downplayed any concern about Suarez's forearm issue, noting that the right-hander could be ready to return to his usual high-leverage relief role in Wednesday's series finale.

Braves' Robert Suarez: Pockets ninth hold
Suarez gave up a hit and struck out two in 1.1 scoreless innings Tuesday to record his ninth hold of the season in a win over the Blue Jays.
The veteran righty continues to excel as Atlanta's primary setup man for closer Raisel Iglesias. Suarez has been scored upon just once in his last 19 appearances, delivering a 0.46 ERA, 0.71 WHIP and 16:4 K:BB over 19.2 innings during that stretch while collecting two wins, four saves and seven holds.

Braves' Robert Suarez: Picks up fourth save
Suarez earned the save Friday against the Rockies, allowing one hit and striking out one in a scoreless ninth inning.
Suarez entered the game with a two-run lead after Atlanta scored two runs in the top of the ninth, and he needed 17 pitches (12 strikes) to get the job done. Even though Suarez gave up a one-out single to Brenton Doyle, he closed the door by retiring Edouard Julien and Mickey Moniak. Suarez has gone 4-for-4 in save chances this season and should continue to have elite fantasy upside as long as Raisel Iglesias (shoulder) remains on the injured list. Suarez has a spotless 0.00 ERA and 0.67 WHIP with a 6:1 K:BB in his last six innings and six appearances.

Braves' Robert Suarez: Converts third save
Suarez earned the save Friday against the Phillies, allowing one hit and one walk with one strikeout in a scoreless ninth inning.
Suarez put the tying run on base with a walk to Trea Turner and Adolis Garcia single but was able to get Brandon Marsh to ground out to end the game. With Raisel Iglesias (shoulder) on the injured list, Suarez has converted back-to-back saves this week and has big-time fantasy upside for however long Iglesias is sidelined. Suarez is a perfect 3-for-3 in save chances this season and owns a minuscule 0.77 ERA and 12:2 K:BB across 11.2 innings.

Braves' Robert Suarez: Secures second save
Suarez picked up the save Wednesday against the Nationals, allowing no runs on one hit and no walks in the ninth inning.
Though he did allow the potential tying run to get to the plate, Suarez quickly shut down any possible Washington rally while throwing seven of his eight pitches for strikes. The hard-throwing right-hander looks to be assuming closing duties in Raisel Iglesias' (shoulder) stead and now has major fantasy upside, though likely temporary, given that he was one of the top closers in baseball for the Padres in 2024 and 2025. Through 11 outings this season, Suarez has a 0.84 ERA, 0.84 WHIP and 11:1 K:BB through 10.2 innings while converting each of his two save chances.

Braves' Robert Suarez: Likely to close sans Iglesias
Suarez is the leading candidate to take over as Atlanta's closer after Raisel Iglesias (shoulder) was placed on the 15-day injured list Tuesday, Grant McAuley of the Marietta Daily Journal reports.
Iglesias has notched five of Atlanta's nine saves on the season, but Suarez has provided value in his setup role, notching a save of his own to go with two wins and four holds along with a 0.93 ERA, 0.83 WHIP and 11:1 K:BB over 9.2 innings. Though a timeline for Iglesias' return has yet to be established, Suarez is a must-roster player in fantasy leagues while he has a clear path to closing duties. The right-hander has plenty of experience in the role, having converted 76 saves for the Padres over the previous two seasons.

Braves' Robert Suarez: Picks up save Saturday
Suarez earned the save in Saturday's 3-1 win over the Phillies, striking out two in a perfect ninth inning
With Raisel Iglesias unavailable after sleeping on his shoulder wrong, Suarez was called upon with a two-run lead in the ninth and slammed the door on 14 pitches. The 35-year-old has been stellar so far this season, posting a 1.04 ERA, 0.92 WHIP and 10:1 K:BB across 8.2 innings. If Iglesias remains unavailable in the near term, Suarez would clearly be the top option for saves in the Atlanta bullpen.

Braves' Robert Suarez: Falls into win Tuesday
Suarez (2-0) picked up the win in Tuesday's victory over the Marlins, giving up a run on three hits in the eighth inning. He struck out one.
The veteran reliever got tagged for his first earned run of the season in his seventh appearance, but Suarez got credit for the win when Atlanta rallied for three runs in the bottom of the eighth to erase a 5-3 deficit. Suarez sports a 1.29 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 8:1 K:BB through seven innings with two holds in addition to his two wins, and he'll be first in line for save chances should Raisel Iglesias be unavailable.
