Marlins' Thomas White: Lands on 7-day IL
White (undisclosed) was placed on the 7-day injured list at Triple-A Jacksonville on Wednesday, Kevin Barral of FishonFirst.com reports.
White was scratched from his scheduled start Wednesday with the Jumbo Shrimp, and although it initially seemed like an indication that he was on his way to the big leagues, he'll instead spend at least a week on the IL due to an unspecified injury. The 21-year-old top prospect has a 4.34 ERA and 1.48 WHIP through five starts at Jacksonville this season, and although he isn't ready for his MLB debut just yet, there's still a chance he gets called up later in the year.

Marlins' Thomas White: Not joining big club
White isn't expected to make his MLB debut anytime soon, Isaac Azout of FishOnFirst.com reports.
With Braxton Garrett being sent down to Triple-A and White getting scratched from his scheduled start Wednesday, it seemed like the Marlins were preparing to promote White to fill the open spot in their rotation. However, the team will instead keep the young lefty in the minors to continue developing after opening the Triple-A season with a 4.34 ERA and 1.48 WHIP through 18.2 innings.

Marlins' Thomas White: Scratched from Triple-A start
White was scratched from his scheduled start Wednesday at Triple-A Jacksonville for precautionary reasons, FishOnFirst.com reports.
The Marlins decided to send Braxton Garrett to the minors following his poor start Tuesday, and although nothing is official just yet, scratching White from his start suggests that he may be called up to join the big-league rotation within the next few days. The 21-year-old southpaw is considered to be one of the top pitching prospects in the sport but has gotten off to a shaky start in Triple-A this year, posting a 4.34 ERA and 1.48 WHIP alongside a 25:9 K:BB through 18.2 innings across five starts. If he ends up getting the call, he would figure to have plenty of time to establish himself in the rotation.

Marlins' Thomas White: Ready to join Triple-A club
White (oblique) will be activated from Triple-A Jacksonville's 7-day injured list to make his season debut with the affiliate Thursday, FishOnFirst.com reports.
White was shelved after suffering a Grade 1 right oblique strain in spring training, but he's received the green light to rejoin the Triple-A club after completing a pair of rehab starts at Single-A Jupiter. The 21-year-old lefty built up to 3.2 innings and 63 pitches in his most recent outing with Jupiter on Thursday, allowing an unearned run on one hit and five walks while striking out six. If White can stay healthy and show improved control at Jacksonville, he should get the chance to make his MLB debut at some point later this summer.

Marlins' Thomas White: Another rehab start on tap
White (oblique) will make his second rehab assignment for Single-A Jupiter on Wednesday, the Marlins' television broadcast reports.
White made it through 2.1 innings in his first outing, allowing two runs on two hits and a walk while striking out four. He'll ultimately end up at Triple-A Jacksonville once he's up to speed.

Marlins' Thomas White: Cut from big-league camp
The Marlins reassigned White (oblique) to minor-league camp Tuesday.
White was a long shot to make the Opening Day roster, anyway, but a recent oblique strain sealed his fate. He is not expected to be game-ready until late March, so White could get a late start to the minor-league season. The top prospect collected a 2.31 ERA and 145:51 K:BB over 89.2 innings across three minor-league stops in 2025.

Marlins' Thomas White: Tending to strained oblique
Marlins manager Clayton McCullough said Sunday that White has been diagnosed with a Grade 1 right oblique strain and won't return to game action for 3-to-4 weeks, Louis Addeo-Weiss of FishOnFirst.com reports.
Arguably the top pitching prospect in the Miami organization, White received an invitation to big-league camp but was always considered likely to open the season in the Triple-A Jacksonville rotation. The oblique injury, which White picked up Friday in his spring debut, will keep him out for the rest of the Grapefruit League slate. Assuming the estimated recovery timeline holds, White could still be ready to go when Jacksonville opens its season March 27, although he would likely need time to ramp up in extended spring training first.

Marlins' Thomas White: Joining Marlins in MLB camp
The Marlins have extended White an invitation to big-league camp during spring training.
White is only 21 years old and has made just two starts at the Triple-A level, so he's likely to begin the 2026 season back in the minors as he continues working on his control. That said, the lefty is one of the most exciting young pitching prospects in baseball and has a good chance to debut at some point during the upcoming season. White collected a 2.31 ERA with a whopping 145 strikeouts (and 51 walks) over 89.2 innings across three minor-league stops in 2025.
