Rice went 4-for-5 with a double, two home runs and six RBI in Game 1 of the AL Wild Card Series against the Red Sox on Tuesday.
The 27-year-old posted a 1.055 OPS over 22 games in September and carried his hot bat into the postseason with a fifth-inning solo homer and an eighth-inning grand slam in Tuesday's blowout victory. Rice clubbed 41 homers with 97 RBI, 105 runs and a .264/.363/.534 slash line in 154 regular-season games this year, with his breakout helping to cover the absence of Aaron Judge (calf).

Rice led off the game with a 379-foot blast off Mason Englert, his 40th homer this season, before adding his 41st in the fourth, tying Yordan Alvarez and Junior Caminero for the AL lead. Rice has three homers during his seven-game hitting streak, including Friday's solo shot. The slugger has also shown a little speed at times -- he's up to four triples on the year after his three-bagger. Rice went 1-for-2 with a solo home run and two walks in a 2-0 victory over the Mets on Sunday.
It looked like the Yankees could be in for a big game on offense when Rice went deep to right field leading off their half of the first inning, but only one additional run was scored by either team for the rest of the contest. The long ball continued a nice September for Rice, as he's slashing .368/.467/.605 with three home runs, 10 runs and four RBI through 10 games this month. He's been one of the best hitters in the league this year, ranking ninth among qualified hitters in OPS (.884) and 13th in RBI (90) while tying for fifth in homers (38).
