Yankees' Elmer Rodriguez: Sent back to Triple-A
The Yankees optioned Rodriguez to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Monday.
Called up ahead of the second game of Sunday's doubleheader with the Dodgers to serve as the Yankees' 27th man in the twin bill, Rodriguez wound up going unused in New York's 2-1 win in the nightcap. The 22-year-old righty will slot back into the rotation at Scranton/Wilkes-Barre during the upcoming week after compiling a 2.85 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and 67:34 K:BB across 66.1 innings over his 13 starts at Triple-A prior to the All-Star break.

Yankees' Elmer Rodriguez: Called up, available in relief
The Yankees recalled Rodriguez from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre ahead of the second game of Sunday's doubleheader versus the Dodgers.
Appointed as the Yankees' 27th man for the twin bill, Rodriguez appears set to make his first appearance as a reliever after he worked as a starter in his prior four big-league outings. Lefty Ryan Yarbrough is opening the game for the Yankees, but he hasn't worked more than three innings in any appearance this season and will likely be in line for an abbreviated start before the Yankees turn the game over to Rodriguez and their other relief arms. Over his first 17 big-league innings, Rodriguez has pitched to a 4.76 ERA, 1.76 WHIP and 10:11 K:BB.

Yankees' Elmer Rodriguez: Potentially starting Sunday
Manager Aaron Boone said Rodriguez will be called up from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre to serve as the Yankees' 27th man for Sunday's doubleheader against the Dodgers and could "potentially" start Game 2, Gary Phillips of the New York Daily News reports.
With the Yankees deciding to push Ryan Weathers back a day in the schedule to start Monday's series opener versus the Pirates, Rodriguez looks poised to temporarily step into the big-league rotation as a starter or bulk reliever. The 22-year-old has started in each of his prior four appearances with the Yankees, recording a 4.76 ERA, 1.76 WHIP and 10:11 K:BB in 17 innings.

Yankees' Elmer Rodriguez: Headed back to Triple-A
The Yankees optioned Rodriguez to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre following Sunday's 4-1 loss to the Reds.
Rodriguez was called up to make a spot start Sunday, and he was handed his second loss of the season after tossing four innings and allowing three runs on four hits and two walks while striking out four. The 22-year-old will head back to the minors while the Yankees scale back to a five-man rotation during the upcoming week.

Yankees' Elmer Rodriguez: Recalled ahead of start
The Yankees recalled Rodriguez from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre ahead of his scheduled start Sunday against the Reds in New York.
Rodriguez is expected to make just one start for the big club before heading back to Triple-A, as manager Aaron Boone said Saturday that he simply wanted to build in an extra day of rest for the other members of the rotation. The 22-year-old righty will be making his fourth appearance of the season for New York after turning in a 4.15 ERA, 1.85 WHIP and 6:9 K:BB in 13 innings over his first three big-league starts.

Yankees' Elmer Rodriguez: Starting Sunday
The Yankees will recall Rodriguez from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre to start Sunday's game against the Reds at Yankee Stadium, Gary Phillips of the New York Daily News reports.
In an effort to give their starters some extra rest, the Yankees will bring up Rodriguez for a spot start Sunday. The 22-year-old righty has already started three games for the Yankees this season and owns a 4.15 ERA and 1.85 WHIP through 13 innings. He'll be welcomed back to the majors by a Reds offense that has put up a .707 OPS across its last 10 games.

Yankees' Elmer Rodriguez: Optioned after spot start
The Yankees optioned Rodriguez to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Monday.
Rodriguez was solid in a spot start Sunday versus the Mets, yielding one run on five hits and one walk over 4.1 innings. He had seemed in line to make one more start for the Yankees before Gerrit Cole (elbow) returns, but instead Rodriguez will rejoin the rotation at Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

Yankees' Elmer Rodriguez: Serviceable in no-decision
Rodriguez didn't factor into the decision Sunday against the Mets, allowing one run on five hits and one walk in 4.1 innings. He struck out one.
Recalled from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre for a spot start, Rodriguez gave the Yankees 4.1 quality frames Sunday. The 22-year-old right-hander has not yet completed five innings in any of his first three major-league starts, but he's at least managed to keep the ball in the yard despite posting a troublesome 4.15 ERA, 1.85 WHIP and 6:9 K:BB over 13 innings. Rodriguez is next tentatively slated to take the hill against the division-rival Rays, but the expectation is that Gerrit Cole (elbow) will retake his place in New York's rotation after making one more rehab appearance.

Yankees' Elmer Rodriguez: Slated to start Sunday
Rodriguez said Saturday that he's going to start Sunday's series finale against the Mets, Pete Caldera of The Bergen Record reports.
Rodriguez was called up from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Saturday to take the place of Max Fried (elbow) in the Yankees' rotation. It appears the rookie right-hander won't have to wait long to make his third big-league start, as he's set to face the Mets on Sunday. Ryan Weathers had previously been in line to start that contest, so it appears he's being pushed back at least one day.

Yankees' Elmer Rodriguez: Recalled from Triple-A
The Yankees recalled Rodriguez from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Saturday.
The 22-year-old righty will return to the Yankees as the roster replacement for Max Fried, who landed on the injured list with a bone bruise in his left elbow. Rodriguez struggled during his first stretch in the big leagues, allowing five earned runs on 10 hits and eight walks while striking out five batters in 8.2 innings over two starts. He'll likely take Fried's place in the rotation until Gerrit Cole (elbow) is cleared to return, lining Rodriguez up to start against the Blue Jays on Tuesday.

Yankees' Elmer Rodriguez: Sent down to Triple-A
The Yankees optioned Rodriguez to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Tuesday.
The 22-year-old righty was allowed to make a second start with the Yankees on Tuesday against Texas, but with Carlos Rodon (elbow) expected to rejoin the Yankees' rotation soon, Rodriguez will head back to Triple-A after giving up three earned runs to the Rangers over 4.2 innings. The young prospect now owns a 5.19 ERA and 2.08 WHIP through 8.2 innings with New York and will likely be a candidate for additional spot starts over the course of the season.

Yankees' Elmer Rodriguez: Receiving another start
Rodriguez is slated to start Tuesday's game against the Rangers at Yankee Stadium.
The Yankees will have the 22-year-old right-hander make another turn through the rotation after he took a loss to the Rangers in his MLB debut last Wednesday, when he recorded three strikeouts while allowing two runs on four hits and four walks over four innings. While he remains one of the more promising young arms in the Yankees' system, Rodriguez may not be in line for any additional starts even if he delivers a gem in his rematch with Texas. Carlos Rodon (elbow) is making what could be his final minor-league rehab start Tuesday and may return from the 15-day injured list to take over Rodriguez's spot in the rotation when it comes up again Sunday in Milwaukee.

Yankees' Elmer Rodriguez: Takes loss in debut
Rodriguez (0-1) took the loss Wednesday against the Rangers, allowing two runs on four hits and four walks over four innings. He struck out three.
Rodriguez looked good early, holding Texas off the board in his first four major-league innings. However, it was a different story in the fifth, when Rodriguez allowed the first four batters to reach in the frame, ultimately conceding two runs without logging an out. Still, there were certainly some positives to take away from the 22-year-old's debut. Rodriguez was excellent in Triple-A to start the year, posting a 1.27 ERA with a 0.90 WHIP and 20 strikeouts across 21.1 innings. He figures to make at least one more start with the Yankees before Gerrit Cole (elbow) and Carlos Rodon (elbow) come off the IL, likely to come next week at home in a rematch with the Rangers.
