Bennett (6-4) took the loss Tuesday against the Athletics, allowing three runs on six hits and two walks while striking out four over 6.1 innings.
Bennett surrendered a pair of singles in the second inning that produced the Athletics' first run before settling in and allowing just three hits over the next four frames. His night ended in the seventh as a leadoff walk was followed by a two-run homer from Brian Serven. The defeat was the left-hander's first since June 17, as he had gone 5-0 with a 1.40 ERA over his previous six starts. Bennett has completed at least five innings in all 11 of his starts this season and will carry a 2.47 ERA, 0.97 WHIP and 46:11 K:BB into his next scheduled outing Sunday against a dangerous Dodgers lineup.

Red Sox's Jake Bennett: Narrowly misses quality start
Bennett (6-3) earned the win in Game 1 of Wednesday's doubleheader against the Orioles, allowing three runs on nine hits and no walks in 5.2 innings. He struck out four.
While Bennett did fall one out shy of logging a quality start, he pitched deep enough into the game to claim the win. The 25-year-old southpaw was staked to an early 4-0 lead Wednesday, pounding the zone for 64 strikes (84 pitches), and the three runs allowed were his most since his June 10 start in Tampa Bay. Bennett, who has worked at least five innings in all 10 of his outings, is set to bring an impressive 2.58 ERA, 0.94 WHIP and 42:9 K:BB over 59.1 frames into a tough test in Sacramento against the Athletics.

Tampa Bay never got a runner into scoring position against the rookie southpaw, as Bennett tossed an extremely efficient 65 pitches (42 strikes) before being lifted with Boston comfortably ahead 9-0 to begin the seventh inning. Bennett has delivered five straight quality starts dating back to June 22, a stretch in which he sports an astounding 0.82 ERA, 0.64 WHIP and 25:4 K:BB over 33 innings. Bennett was phenomenal Wednesday, scattering four singles across seven scoreless frames. The 25-year-old southpaw appears to be cementing his place in Boston's rotation after beginning the campaign with Triple-A Worcester, spinning at least six innings while yielding two runs or fewer in four consecutive starts. Bennett has effectively put himself in must-roster fantasy territory heading into the All-Star break, holding an impressive 2.64 ERA, 0.94 WHIP and 35:8 K:BB over 47.2 innings.

Bennett (3-3) earned the win against the Angels on Friday, allowing two runs on five hits while striking out six over 7.2 innings. He also tossed a wild pitch but did not walk a batter.
This was Bennett's longest outing of the season, and he came just four outs shy of tossing a complete game, though by the time he left the mound, he was already at 92 pitches (61 strikes). Bennett has been pitching very well of late, and this was his fourth consecutive outing allowing two earned runs or fewer. He owns a 1.78 ERA and 0.67 WHIP across 25.1 innings over that stretch, and he's slated to make his next start on the road against the White Sox.

Bennett (2-3) picked up the win Saturday, allowing one run on three hits and two walks over 6.1 innings in a 4-1 victory over the Yankees. He struck out three.
The rookie southpaw tossed 87 pitches (59 strikes) en route to his second straight quality start. Bennett, who was acquired from the Nationals over the winter, has proven to be find for the Red Sox, and through his first six big-league outings he's delivered a 3.27 ERA, 1.06 WHIP and 25:7 K:BB through 33 innings. He'll try to stay sharp in his next start, which is set to come on the road next weekend against the Angels.

Bennett did not factor into the decision Monday, allowing four hits and no walks over six scoreless innings against the Rockies. He struck out nine.
Tasked with pitching at the notoriously hitter-friendly Coors Field, Bennett took the challenge in stride, allowing no runs while recording a season-high nine strikeouts in what can easily be considered the best outing of his young career. A blown save by Aroldis Chapman, however, denied Bennett the win. Through five big-league starts, the 25-year-old owns a 1-3 record with a 3.71 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 22:5 K:BB across 26.2 innings. His next start is projected for Saturday against the Yankees.

Bennett fared well Wednesday, keeping the ball in the yard while firing 55 of his 79 pitches for strikes. The 25-year-old left-hander also gave up a season-low three knocks, fanned a season-high five and even issued no free passes for the first time in four starts this year. Bennett will make a start against the Rays on Wednesday at Tropicana Field. The left-hander yielded five earned runs on 11 hits with a 4:4 K:BB in two starts with the Red Sox last month and boasts a 1.49 ERA, 1.02 WHIP and 41:9 K:BB in 42.1 innings over 10 starts for Worcester. The Red Sox will recall Bennett from Triple-A Worcester to start Wednesday's game against the Rays at Tropicana Field, Andrew Mahoney of The Boston Globe reports.
As anticipated, Bennett will be stepping into the rotation spot vacated by Brayan Bello, who was optioned to Triple-A last week. Though he reached five innings in both of his first two big-league starts back in early May against the Astros and Rays, Bennett yielded five earned runs on 11 hits and four walks while striking out four across 10.1 frames. However, the 25-year-old lefty has performed as one of the top pitchers in the International League this season, running up a 1.49 ERA, 1.02 WHIP and 41:9 K:BB in 42.1 innings over 10 starts for Worcester. With Bello now in the minors and Garrett Crochet (lat) weeks away from a return from the injured list, Bennett could have a pathway to an extended run in the big-league rotation if his performance warrants it.
