Sale allowed a run in the first inning and that was all Arizona needed, as Atlanta's potent offense was shut out Friday. The veteran ace has now logged five straight quality starts since the All-Star break, tallying 43 strikeouts over 31 innings during that stretch. He owns a 2.16 ERA, 1.02 WHIP and 160:28 K:BB across 129 frames this season and lines up for a road matchup with the Twins next week.

The veteran southpaw dialed up his fourth straight quality start and 14th of the season on 103 pitches (64 strikes), but Sale left the game with his team down 3-2 and Atlanta never found an equalizer. Sale hasn't allowed more than three runs in an outing since April 6, and since the beginning of June he's produced a 2.41 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 71:11 K:BB through 56 innings over his last 10 starts. He'll look to keep rolling in his next trip to the mound, which lines up to come at home next weekend against the Diamondbacks.

Sale is slated to make his next start during Atlanta's road series against the Yankees next weekend, Chad Bishop of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
Sale was lined up to toe the rubber in Tuesday's series opener against Miami, but he will now be pushed back a few days. The southpaw has posted a 1.23 ERA and 0.59 WHIP with 31 strikeouts over 22 innings in his last four appearances, so Atlanta's decision to push him back in the pitching schedule isn't performance-based and is likely just a measure to build in some extra rest for him during the grueling season.
Sale (12-6) picked up the win in the second game of Wednesday's doubleheader against the Mets, allowing just two hits over six scoreless innings in a 1-0 victory. He struck out nine without walking a batter.
After Atlanta lost 3-2 in the matinee, its ace took the mound for the nightcap and all but ensured the team would come away with a split. Sale fired 63 of 94 pitches for strikes in his 13th quality start of the season, and he hasn't given up more than three runs in an outing since April 6. The veteran southpaw will take a 2.08 ERA, 1.02 WHIP and 143:26 K:BB through 117 innings into his next start, which lines up to come at home early next week against the Marlins.
